- Princess Diana was an incredible woman. She inspired people all over the world to go and make a difference in other peoples lives. I knew her for fifteen years, cooking for her for eleven years when she came to stay with The Queen at Balmoral, Sandringham and Windsor Castle and was her personal chef for the last four years of her life.
In this video I share many happy memories of Princess Diana as well as some of her foodie favorites. Hope you enjoy it!

If the first baby I ever held was an actual Prince I would be wayyy too stressed
Don't stress out!!! We all start out as babies- who knows some of the Royals actually understand what it means to live a "normal/ordinary" life. For example, Prince William & Prince Harry have had that experience!! Diana was a wonderful mother, I believe- look how they turned out!! 😀
So true! 😊
It’s lovely to hear Darren’s recollections of Princess Diana. It’s very clear that Darren really knew her, and it’s refreshing that Darren’s memories come from a place of love and respect, unlike some of her former staff that have attempted to commercialise their relationship with Princess Diana.
Thank you so much for posting that comment, it’s what is in all of our hearts
Lovely & personal insight of our beautiful inside & out Princess Diana by her friend, Chef Darren, who created all her favorite culinary delights. You brightened her life.
When he mentioned the passing joke of “another one off the list..he’s too short” speaking of Tom Cruise. He really humanizes a family that people imagine are happy happy but are real people.
It’s clear that her chef loved the Princess. His grief is apparent.
wth? He's capitalizing on his association as well.
It's so clear to see how much appreciation he has for the late Princess. After doing some reading on Darren, I saw that after her tragic death he chose to devote much of his free time to the causes and charities she supported. What an amazing thing to not only support those wonderful charities, but also honor her memory. Cheers Darren, I hope for nothing but the best for you and your family.
Nice comments
Sounds delicious! I will definitely make that recipe!
Thanks for sharing.

Touche Jacob!!
That looks delicious!!!
She was lucky to have you in her life as well, Darren!
💯🥰
Absolutely!
This was a better tribute than that statue they revealed
That’s true he really is a lovely man ❤️🤗🥰
My thoughts exactly.
🤣🤣🤣
Well said...
It's really unfortunate that William and Harry don't get an opportunity to spend a day with Darren. I bet it would be good for both of them to be around someone who truly loved their mom and has such fond and positive memories...which I'm sure they rarely experience. Happy Birthday HRH, you are missed.
I was just thinking of something like this. But you said it first and so well! 😘
@DS SO what's your point? Darren knew her and Harry was asking that question when he was a very young boy and didn't quite grasp how people perceived his mother, to him, she was just mom.
@@danielhostetler9493 Harry said this very recently too Daniel .... Though this is not about Harry ........
@@Paula-dl9ky actually, he was speaking of the time during his mother's funeral and referring to the fact that the public got to mourn but he couldn't. He was not referring to his current view. He said it during his Oprah interview.
@@danielhostetler9493 My misunderstanding perhaps, if so my apologies.... I posted it as DS SO may not have been around back then and it's new to him / her ... Yes, Diana was simply 'mummy' back then ... We all miss her I think ... I saw her close up at Live Aid 1985, in Wembley Stadium .... Beautiful lady ....
"He's too short"...LMAO. I love how even if she was scared and called the fire brigade, she never thought to call Darren and ask for something because she probably thought to not disturb him in his free time. Those are small things, but shows what a caring person she was.
Thank you for sharing. I've loved since I was a small boy. It took 11 years, after the wedding, before I eventually met her. I bought flowers and arrived at the venue at 10am for her lunch time appointment. When she arrived, she rushed in. It was the week of the serialization of Diana: Her True Story. By the time she emerged it was 2pm, and my flowers had wilted. Her detective Insp Peter Brown opened the car door for her to step in. My heart sank. But instead of getting into the car, she pointed at me and walked straight towards me. I got so nervous and I gave her the wilted flowers and curtseyed as she shook my hand. She giggled. I met her a few days later, and she smiled and said, "I remember you. You're so sweet. You gave me flowers last Tuesday." I was gobsmacked.
A good way to judge someone is by how they treat their staff. And from the way that Darren speaks of her, she obviously treated hers with kindness and respect.
Diana is as close to a real Disney princess as any person will ever come. She was a member of royalty who genuinely cared about people and was humble and grounded while also being elegant.
I hope the boys see this. It's always so heartening to hear good stories about our loved ones.
Aw I’m sure they would approve ❤️🤗😇💕
William has turned the page!
Thank you so much Darren for sharing HRH favourite recipes with us all..... Yes, surely she was and still is the people's princess. I pray that one good day, Princes William and Harry will come knocking on your door to cook some of their beloved mom's favourite recipes. Darren, may God bless you and your family always. ❤💛💜❤
💯
Loved the Clint Eastwood story! If you were at a restauant he would have given you a fistful of dollars.
Lmao 👍👍🤣🤣
💯🤣
I think the best and worst thing about this video is this fact: we, “commoner’s,” had to hear of Princess Diana from the junky cheap tabloids while great stories like these that share of her true character were shielded from us, the masses. Thanks for sharing Darren!
You are so right. How unhappy She must have been until she separated from the royal family.
You're so right!
"60 years young"- you are truly a princess Diana fan. She seemed like such a lovely person and this is a great tribute ❤️❤️ Good job 👍
Elegantly put, 60 years young. No wonder she loved hanging out with you in the kitchen 😀🌹
It looked delicious.
I'm glad to know she
Had good taste in
Food like I do !!!!!
My Gosh, Princess Diana asked this Chef to Hold Prince Harry while she ate, she was a loving and gracious individual! God Love Her
I love watching Darren cook and listening to him telling his story.
It’s like listening to your uncle telling his story like a little kid at the dinner table .
Same 💯❤️
I can see why Diana loved hanging out with him
Always lovely to hear Darren speak of Her Royal Highness. You can hear the affection in his voice.
NOTHING ROYAL ABOUT A CHEATING WIFE ..OR HUSBAND CHARLIE ..BUT TELL ABOUT HER GREATEST FRIENDS JIMMSERS HEWITT & SAVILE
Princesa Diana and
Clint Eastwood in a
Big party they seem
Not to like each other
So thus way , I was
Surprised to know
He was there in his
Cowboy boots
Looking hot!!!!
You can tell how much Diana meant to Darren 🥺 she was such a kind soul and so is he, I’d like to think they were good friends, even if Darren worked for her!
Happy 60th. Birthday
Queen Diana. Enjoy your special Day with the Good People "YOU CAN TRUST ". You know what I mean !!!
God bless you and keep you safe and your GOOD FRIENDS TOO 💝🙏💝🙏💝🙏💝
Princess Diana seems to have been as beautiful inside as she was on the outside. I wish I could have met her.
Well, her husband had other plans
You really loved and love Diana, such a touching tribute. Too soon, she was so young, such a crime.
Diana and I was born the same year 1961 I'll be 60 in December 29th.This is a wonderful tribute to her.We will always miss Princess Diana.
It is a huge loss to the world losing Princess Diana. She was more Royal than any of them! Thank you for sharing this Darren.
Happy Birthday , your Royal Highness - though you may be gone , you are never forgotten ; you live on in the hearts and minds of all of us who love and respect you ; you will forever be The Peoples Princess ❤
I followed Princess Diana from the beginning. I turned 60 in May. Im a huge fan . She was truely an influential person in so many ways.
I have to say. Your kind words and obvious affection for the Princess is clear. To have such loyalty after 20 years is very telling. She was so loved by the world, but to those who knew her she was more. A real friend.
God bless .

I think the most wonderful thing about the late princess is how she was blind to class structure and treated everyone the same, it didn't matter if she was talking to the leader of a nation or a homeless person in Africa she treated everyone with equal love and respect and that is truly a virture that our society strongly lacks this day and age. She was a a beautiful shining light that was just too beautiful and bright for this world, and now she is a beautiful angel for real, there will never be another one like Princess Diana.
A homeless person in Africa ......why does it have to be Africa. Think before you spew out ignorance white boy.
R.I.P. Princess Diana, may you find eternal happiness in Heaven, and long live the Queen.
"Hunky firemen all to my self"! So fun, Darren. Thanks for this beautiful memory.
Even at 60 years old she would have the grace, dignity, and beauty with all of her charitable work I almost guarantee she would still be very very very active in every one of her charities!!!
Even at 60? You have no idea.
@@johndoe-wv3nu how do you mean wasn’t supposed to be insulting and yes I said even at 60 years old because most (not all) people in their 60s start to slow down on their charitable workings my grandma was the president of her charity league and stepped down on her 61st birthday and stopped being as hands on she just wrote checks and gave all she could…
@@garytaylor903 I'm 54 and just starting out....again. 60 isn't old for many people.
@@glamdolly30 If you cannot say anything nice please keep your mouth shut!
@@glamdolly30 Jesus ! Where did you come from? What utterly ridiculous comments to make.
I love how you still call her “your royal highness” as we all should..she was a pure soul. ❤
When he said "Happy Birthday your royal highness", my heart stopped..eyes filled..such a great tribute ❤️
❤😢
Certainly warned my heart ❤️ I can’t imagine how much he missed that beautiful soul
I love anything with a poached egg and hollandaise sauce
So smart of him to save the cards and hand written notes from Diana! She truly touched people all over the world. I am in the US and I stayed up til 4 am to watch her funeral and cried all day afterwards. What wonderful memories he has of her!!
That’s an awesome story about Clint Eastwood and your meal “making his day”
This made me smile. I adored hearing Darren speak so fondly and warmly of Princess Diana. What a lovely man Darren is and it is very clear that he and Diana had a wonderful friendship.
Thank you Darren for calling her _Princess_ Diana - for indeed she was a princess - even if it was only in our hearts. She was truly one of a kind, wasn't she? She was my age, and I still miss her terribly. I like to think that in some other life, we'd be friends, I know she had a great sense of humor! The day she passed was like my JFK moment, I was absolutely gutted.
You can tell how much he loved and missed her. Happy birthday Princess Diana 👸 RIP 🙏❤
She was incredible, and stolen too soon…
How heartwarming is that hearing about Princess Diana she was so sweet and beautiful such a lady.
I can see how fond he still is of her, and even after all these years after her sad passing, people still fond over her. The true queen in our hearts
I have to admit that this is the very first cooking show that made me tear up. Thanks Darren, you confirmed everything I believed about Diana.
Thank you Darren for paying tribute for Diana's Birthday ❤.
You have no idea how much I enjoyed hearing your memories of Princess Diana. And thank you for sharing her favorite food. ❤️ She will always be the peoples PRINCESS ❤️❤️❤️
Yes she was such a TREASURE to our country. Love her still today. God bless you HRH Princess Diana.
She was a true Princess, but so down to earth, and caring.I still can’t get over the tragic loss🇬🇧🇨🇦🌟
Hearing you talk about Princess Diana made me realise that she truly fits the title given to her "People's Princess". This only made me realise she was royal yet normal. Thank you sharing her with us through your stories and food.
Dear he did not share her but shared a bit of her life time
What a man Darren. U were fortunate to work so closely with Princess and the Duke .
Ah, that's so sad, but so sweet, too. Her wedding and her death are 2 of the public events that I will never forget where I was in life when they occurred.
People Butchered her to death and she is still spinning in her grave up till this day.
My mum says the same!
This was so nice. Thank you! America loved Diana. She was our princess, too. ♥️
She definitely was the Queen of Hearts. So many broke when she died!
I just love Darren. He is so real and his memories are very touching. So easy to see why Diana trusted him and held him dear. So glad they were there for each other... he became like family.
Princess Diana was a treasure to our world, and taken from us way too soon. We hear so many stories of vipers in her world - it is heartwarming to know she had a loyal, genuine and kind supporter in you, Darren. ✝️💗😀👑
Its not just his cooking that makes this so intresting, its his stories and how well he tells them that makes it special. 😊
A great and touching tribute to Princess Diana. Well done Darren! You're one of a kind.
Was there anyone ever in life more beautiful inside and out than Princess Diana? I don't think so. It is so lovely to hear Darren's lovely stories that capture her personality. Such a loss of such a dynamic beauty. I will miss her forever and this video makes me smile.
I never knew Princess Diana struggled with bulimia. It breaks my heart. She was/is a stunning woman who cared so much about the world. I hate that she had to struggle with that.
@@anti-ethniccleansing465 I am old enough to remember her, but not old enough to remember everything that happened during her life in the public eye, unfortunately.
Darren you are lovely, Love from America. Food needs love in the cooking. That is why she is The People's Princess. All over the world. We miss her even in America..I cried when she passed an ocean away.
Sweet and respectable. I detected a little crack in Darren's voice at the end - genuine affection for a much missed lady.
Yes, you could see he had to cut the clip because it probably made him tear up. Poor guy, such a tragedy for all of us and we didn’t even know her personally.
What wonderful memories of Princess Diana. I'm envious.
Its very unfortunate that her sons are at odds.

Hello how’re you doing?
Thank u DArren for this my eyes rain tears for the late priccess of people's heart.she was awesome lovely down to earth
She would of been so beautiful right now
Aw, man... There are very few things that can make me tear up. This was one of them. Sending a virtual hug, Darren.
D*mn, you really are a teddy bear.
I truly wish I could find a friend like Darren. He’s consistently advocated to keep her memory alive. He’s always so respectful of her. And I can just tell he wasn’t JUST a staff member to her. He was a true friend.
It is nice to hear stories from someone who cared about her
Enjoy the cooking tips as well 😂
Darren thank you for sharing your sweet memories of Diana with us. She was one of a kind and so are you. 😁
I think Darren was picked because he is such a kind, warm hearted, good person. As well as the delicious food I bet he was a ray of sunshine, and I am glad he mentions he has family, and had weekends in a real world so his life was balanced and he could do good elsewhere after his palace years.
Hello 👋how are you doing?
I can only imagine cooking this and feeling happy with the memories and then cry over my food. She definitely was defined as the Peoples Princess and People all around the world still show that love for her even when she's gone. A true real life fairytale princess indeed.
Such a kind man !
Hello how’re you doing?
"That's another one off the list. He's too short" . ROFL
Literally the comment I scrolled down for - she seems like she was hilarious!
Thank you for this wonderful tribute to Diana. She and I were born on the same day and she's always been special to me. I'm so glad you were the one cooking for Diana and the boys after the separation.
Happy Birthday😀
You can really tell that you cared for her. This is a wonderful tribute. ❤️
I love how you still called her "Your royal highness" ❤️
Princess Diana most beautiful women on earth priceless beauty
The truly touching thing about this video is that you’re speaking about someone who was more than a princess. The way you speak of Princess Diana, is the way someone would speak of a friend. Chef, that says more about who she was than any story I’ve ever read or documentary I’ve ever watched.
He genuinely adored Diana. You can tell by the way his face lights up when he talks about her.
I always cry thinking/hearing of princess diana.
Fascinating to hear how she changed this chefs life.
Born to be the Queen Consort, destined to be the people's princess, lives forever as the "Queen of Hearts".
I can't help crying towards the end of this video. It's such a shame that we will never see Princess Diana enjoying this dish in person. Heaven is so lucky to have her. Thank you so much Darren for this beautiful tribute!
You can tell how much Darren cared for princess Diana and the princes she left this world far too soon we all cherish her memory even if we were not lucky enough to have met her in person she made us feel like we were part of her life even if it was at a distance
Diana was really just a wholesome human being.
I like the best part where she says " There was 12 hunky fire brigade and the best part was I had all of them to myself."
Aww bless her RIP Princess Diana x that looks lovely what a lovely tribute x
For my Mom and dad's generation the thing they remember exactly where they were was when JFK was killed in Dallas.
For my daughters generation it was when the twin towers came down in New York.
For my generation though it was when Diana died.
I remember exactly where I was.
I was bartending at Austin Country Club while I was at UT Austin & I had a good crowd. These folks were a loud and lively group so when the whole room went quiet I knew something was wrong.
Such a tragedy!!
Yeah am in the middle I remember Diana's death as it was the first world changing event in my life time but 9/11 came so soon after
Thank you for sharing such interesting memories. Lady Di was/is a legend indeed.
She is a lovely Princess Diana.. gorgeous Lady Di💝🥰💝
Her Chef was such a kind man and took good care of Diana and her children !!! ❤️
I love listening to you talk about Princess Diana. She was beautiful inside and out. No one will ever be able to hold a candle to this truly human princess.
Princess Catherine is also beautiful inside and outside and she has a happier marriage than Diana had. Princess Catherine is a working royal for the Crown while Diana's freedom from the RF gave her opportunities to expand her interest beyond what she could do as a working royal!
Thank you, Chef. I needed that for my heart. I have been to the The Ritz in Paris and walked through the Pont De Alma tunnel and hugged the 13th pillar for closure. Some of the staff at the Ritz were on duty that night and are now around my age or older (55) I was there in 2015 and brought my son (21 at the time) in 2019 and had lunch at Ritz ( it was closed in 2015) they now have the back entrance blocked.
Thank you for your tribute❤️🇺🇸🇬🇧 I miss her so much.
