Singapore left in 1965 and became completely independent. From 1965 to the 1990s Singapore enjoyed rapid economic growth. By the 1990s it was an NIC (newly industrialized country) and the people had a high standard of living. However the government was authoritarian and society was strictly controlled. In 1990 Lee Kuan Yew resigned as prime minister. He was replaced by Goh Chok Tong. He introduced a more liberal regime. Today Singapore is a prosperous nation and its economy is growing steadily. Singapore is also a very busy port. Today the population of Singapore is 5.6 million.

Are you Singaporean, I'm a Malaysian Malay Muslim man age 34, from Johor Bahru, Malaysia. I love Singapore as my late grandpa is a Singaporean senior citizens born in the year 1915, all the stories about Singapore has been told by my uncle 71, which studies at the Dunman primary school, Tanjong Katong Rd, Singapore from 1957 to 1962. Now he stay with his eldest son at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

I was in Singapore for 6 years, between 2009-15. I was also involved in the construction of Gardens-by-the-Bay. While this video brings nostalgia, it misses out important new additions in the timestamps that you mentioned, except for Marina Bay Sands. GBTB was there in 2012, not 15. Every four months, something new came up in the city. For example, Jurong East looked so different in the 6 years I stayed. Include some of those changes as well.

After adding 10 more years to the withdrawal age of 55, PAP lost Potong Pasir and hence 65 years for the younger generation which remained 'a hot topic' till today..of 1965!
