When Figueroa puts the glove to the side of the cheek, its a legit defensive technique called catching punches. The only problem with the way Omar used it is that youre supposed to use it in a split second and either counter after the punch has landed in the palm of the glove or catch and roll the shot in the palm.Similar to when Jarron Ennis knocked down Abreu the first time in the fight. It would serve omar alot better if he stood in a "philly shell" type stance and use that technique but it wouldn't fit the offensive side of Omars style, but who knows maybe if he stood in a philly shell it would be alot better. Omar has long arms that could cover his entire body comfortably and has a piston right hand(4:35 till 4:42) Omar displayed it. He could use his long reach to pop opponents with his jab, get into his philly shell stance when he wants to be defensive and when he gets closer then he can start switching stances to get better punching angles on his opponent on the ropes or in corners.

Omar is finished! Too many punches taken throughout his career. He needs to retire, before he gets hurt. Unfortunately the same thing will eventually happen to Brandon. It will take its toil!
