    I love this. Combining 2 of your hobbies how good. I was stoked when I needed a new light holder for my aquarium and couldn't find what I needed so I welded myself one.

    if u have no tools.
    get some string, enough to wrap around bottle twice.
    soak it in acetone or nail polish remover. wrap tight and tie around bottle,
    light it on fire. let burn for a bit.
    immerse in cold water and put little pressure to break apart. sand edges.

    I made a plastic version based on this , baited with cucumber popped in tank , when I came back it's full of baby endlers and no snails 😂

      Put a lid on the bottle and add a few holes big enough for the snails to get in

    Ha, over on this side we say "seated." Which admittedly is so close to seeded I used to get confused about tennis as a child.

    Hi Mark, I love your videos and great ideas. I wish I could buy a glass bottle trap from you as I am not that handy and recently had a pond snail outbreak in my 15G tank.

      You could make one from a small plastic coke bottle very easy and just as good.

    Wouldn't this snail trap also catch small fry and other creatures apart from snails?

    • @MARKSAQUATICS
      @MARKSAQUATICS  Před 5 lety +1

      Yes it will but you can just pour them back in the tank.

    I like snails... I do NOT like "bladder snails" as they are commonly called. I find of all the pest snails they are the WORST, and in fact the others can be quite ornamental, but these guys are just the roaches of snails lol. They're very fast, if I put in any treat for my shrimp 20 of the snails have found the food before the shrimp do. I have some mystery snails and some of their babies, so they're very small maybe 5mm, they're slow and just kind of graze, but not the bladder snails. They're in direct competition with my shrimp and so I've decided to make some traps, I bought a device to remove them from the glass as well, been picking the large ones out with tweezers... hopefully between all these methods I can make a huge dent in their population and let the shrimp claim their rightful place as the substrate maintenance crew. Like I said I don't want no snails, just no bladder snails!
