The name Jah is referred to as God by Rastafari which is a religion that was developed in Jamaica during the 1930s. It is classified as both a new religious movement and a social movement. The first gentleman's picture shown was Haile Selassie, Emperor of Ethiopia from 1930 to 1974. Many believed he was the second coming of Jesus when others saw him as a prophet. In a spiritual retoric Bob Marley used his music to spread the religion in the Jamaican culture and eventually global. It's all interesting stuff and at the same time complicated. I always appreciate your reactions because it spikes my interest in educating myself and learning more about the artist. Thank you Erinna.
