- I am on day 12 of my adventure up to the Arctic Circle and if all goes well the Arctic Ocean and the Town of Tuktoyaktuk. I have been filming the entire journey and will share those videos with you all in a few weeks, but just wanted to do a quick update on how things are progressing.

You inspired me to make the trip to MOAB from GA with just my service dog. Planned this trip years ago watching and waiting bed ridden told it was ok to let go. Not me fight like the veteran I am and beat death. You’re such an inspiration to many.
As a trucker who passes by Moab here and there and have been all over the US. I can tell you, you won’t be disappointed one bit. It’s like nothing else in this country.
Dempster is amazing. I did it 5 years ago on my motorcycle and it was a trip of a lifetime.
Seriously looking forward to the next SITREP! Thank you for reporting.
When stationed at Shemya Alaska, we did a Air Force versus Army dip in the Artic Ocean, trust me, you will never again feel the need to go back in. burrr!
One of the most interesting observations from my trip was tire wear. We had a Land Cruiser with Toyo's and a 4 Runner with Falken's. One was cracked and chunked, the other blemish free so different that the cracked and chunked owner changed tires when home. We lost a windshield too on the mad rock slinging dash away from the ferry. 3 1/2" double circle dinger!
Almost there! What a beautiful place to camp. Sounds like the adventure of a lifetime. Enjoy it. After serving over 22 years, I appreciate the SITREP format.
My buddy in Inuvik tells me the washout on the Tuk Highway has been repaired, and the highway reopened - although crews will be continuing work on the affected area on Wednesday.
This is a trip that has been on my bucket list to do now for many years. A couple of good friends who did this trip on their motorcycles 15 years ago have also now ridden all the way down to Ushuaia, the farthest south you can go in Patagonia, South America. Farthest north and farthest south that you can get to by road.
Back in the day they had the Molson Ice Polar beach party in Tuktoyaktuk. I wanted to go and I've been fascinated with it since then. Hope you make it!!!
We went to Tuk last summer and it was, surprisingly, one of the warmest days of our summer travels. I think it was June 30th and it was 29C / 84F. Did not expect that! Regarding the dredge, if I remember correctly, the tour guide told us that that massive machine was run by just 4 people! Crazy!!
I have an old picture book of the YT. The pics were amazing so I can imagine how awesome it is in person. It is on my bucket list.
Awesome video as always Brad. Can’t wait to see the full Arctic series from both your and Shaun’s point of view. Also I hope Shaun picked up the bottle laying next to he’s passenger front tire. Thanks for letting us ride along with y’all on y’all’s adventures.
We drove the Dalton Highway last year up to Coldfoot above the arctic circle. We stayed in the work camp overnight. Its been hard to describe to people how beautiful the drive was.
Love to watch your videos Brad ! CONGRATS making it to the artic circle! Be careful on your journey, good luck and God bless. And Hello from
Sacramento, Ca. 😃 Robert Lopez
I lived in Fairbanks AK as a kid after my father was transferred to Ft Wainwright. It was the mid late 80s. Flights were crazy expensive and we were an Army family, so we drove. My father had the keys to the state - it was locked off from the public back then - and one summer we drove north to prudoe bay and all the way back south to Valdez. We did 3 round trips from Fairbanks to Alabama in the time I was there. 6 trips over the AlCan Hwy when a lot was still gravel. We cracked a windshield every trip, but never broke down. I never made it to Barrow and the Arctic Ocean, will have to make it back someday. We just called it camping, no over landing back then.
That's called an adventure...I love it...Gonna do it again.
What a great adventure, thanks for the update.
I took the plunge in Tuk a couple years ago and it was cold but nothing to be scared of. It was an awesome experience!
Brad I drove to Tuk last August from Minneapolis. There was sun in Dawson City and it then rained for the next 5-6 days. The Dempster was a muddy mess all the way to Tuk but well worth the trip. The rivers were so low that they were trucking supplies North to Inuvik and Tuk and given the mud, the trucks were struggling getting down and up to/from the ferries. Hope the ferries run and you make it all the way. Cheers
I’ve enjoyed the Sitrep videos Brad, it’s a little different than normal and they’re a nice behind the scenes. Keep doing what you’re doing!
It's absolutely stunning isn't it!!
My wife and I did it in the winter. We didn't need to wait for the ferries lol
We want to do it in the summer/fall next.
Following along with your adventure.
Cheers
Yeah, I hope to travel up to the Yukon and Arctic one day! Great sitrep 👍
Have fun in your trip
Thanks for sharing and inspiring so many of us to get out and go!
Sounds fun. Can’t wait to see the full videos.
Amazing looking trip. Excited to see the videos!
Thanks for the sit rep! This trip really sounds amazing. Stay safe, and I hope those ferry’s are open when you arrive tomorrow.
Thanks! It’s been an amazing experience!
The scenery up north is incredible! This trip is so awesome
Awesome Brad, looking forward to your next video
Looks like a great time! This trip is definitely on my bucket list..
Being a veteran of several trips up and down the Alcan Hwy, you guys have had super good luck with weather!! When it is sunny it is a super scenic drive. BTW- winter time drive can be an adventure!
What a great adventure! Be safe and enjoy.
Thank you so much! Hope you enjoyed watching.
Hey Brad can’t wait till the videos start popping in for this trip. Looks really cool!
I haven't been on the Dempster hwy, but I have gone up the Dalton hwy.. Dalton is really beautiful and saw a lot of musk ox.. camped by a river one "night" and woke up with them surrounding the bronco. Also saw a lot of duck and some fox. Woke up with a moose basically looking into the roof top tent while having it's breakfast (that was at Denali)
Was already wanting to get back up north, your videos are really helping to push me to do that sooner lol
Detailing your Jeep after such an epic adventure would make for a great video! Let's do a colab.
As always, thanks for your Sitrep. We did that trip in August 2010. Of course, Inuvik was the farthest you could drive then unless you drove on the river. At the Artic Circle marker we were in a zero visibility snow storm. We saw several bears in the Cranberry bogs eating the berries. We saw Caribou herds also. FYI, just across the Yukon River in Dawson City is a very nice campground. The ferry trip there and back is fun! We spent one night at the commercial campground in town to shower and do laundry but moved across the river the next day. Stop at the little museum on the left side of the road close to the Ferry Crossing of the Peel River its very interesting. I had an article published of our trip in Toyota Trails magazine.
still on my 'bucket list'...hope to complete it next yr🤠
Epic! Brother
This put a smile on my face as i was raised in Norman wells! you can leave the north but the north never leaves you
What an awesome adventure bro! Can’t wait to see how it goes! Jim from Temecula
2022 we did the trip to Tuktoyaktuk just after they opened the area after Covid. Then into Alaska, down to Haines Alaska (A must drive) then back home in Oregon. It was a great trip.
My wife and I have in our fleet a 2018 Ram 2500 4wd 6.7L with a 4Wheel popup camper. We just started pulling a '23 JLU for little side trips. We will probably make the same trip once I retire. My wife is already retired, and I cannot let her see this video. Or the retirement pressure will increase.
Cool video....Dont discount the Dalton! The folks up in Prudhoe are always glad to see tourists rather than roughnecks. Its worth the trip up.
Watching this on my TV now and you're talking about the Dalton hwy and Prudow Bay, Kevin and Sarah went and Alaska is incredible!!!
I don’t know who are Kevin and Sarah but you are right about the dalton highway. I live here. Hehe
full size is the way to go!
Things sure are different up there. The Gladiator looks like it's in its habitat but I really like the Ram too.
Dempster highway is more scenic more of the time than the Dalton highway, but you definitely need to put both on your bucket list.
Nice to cross paths with you and Shawn in BC, (sorry for making you wait while I was blocking the Alaska sign with my rv) from my trip it definitely looks like you had an amazing trip …. kinda makes me jealous I am not going that far north, just hit Dawson City myself
I love seeing one of my favorite CZcamsrs get so enthused about the highway that was, for us, the high point (thus far) of 10 years of road-tripping and trail-crawling in a Jeep.
I spent the first 46 years of my life living in British Columbia, never drove the Dempster. Now that I'm close to retirement and living in Texas my wife and I are considering driving to Tuk. We'd like to tow a medium sized off-grid travel trailer and would like to hear from those who have gone before if they think it's feasible to drag a trailer along.
Your adventure has brought back a lot of memories of our trip up there. Unfortunately we didn't drive up, so we booked a train/bus tour. Flew to Anchorage, went to Denali, then to Fairbanks, then to Tok. Supposed to continue by bus to Dawson City but they had a road wash out. They flew us into Dawson City Airport. Stayed a night in Dawson City. Took a tour up the Dempster Hwy. Took the Klondike Hwy to Whitehorse. Took the White Pass & Yukon Route Railway narrow gauge train to Skagway (the route the miners in the Klondike Gold Rush took between 1896 and 1899). Boarded the ship and toured Glacier Bay, then down to Vancouver to fly back to California. The trip of a lifetime! And as you said, the beauty of the Yukon and areas are incredible!
Hi. I did that adventure a couple of years ago. Just amazing. I strongly suggest that you return via Chicken , Alaska.
is that the route’s last leg ? or does one just wing it from there ?
Watching guys live the life I'm gonna live in a few years after retiring.
And somehow I was unsubscribed from the channel.
Thank you for sharing this amazing trip with all of us! Drive on!
I remember Tuk from watching the TV 📺 show, Iceroad Truckers.
Making the trip in August, would love to know more about your route and those campsites you found.
After coming back on the Dempster from Tuk, and lots of rain, my vehicle was covered completely by a layer of fine mud. It took almost an hour in Dawson City to kinda clean it off with a not so powerful, power wash. Make sure to get some Muktuk in Tuktoyaktuk. Btw, saw caribou and musk ox off in the distance but unfortunately not up close. The museum in Inuvik is worth a visit.
Great vid and update. Keep the beard.
Thanks Guys
If you are thinking about a detour to Alaska on the way back south, take the Taylor highway from Dawson to Tok, as the views are spectacular. And if you swing by Fairbanks feel free to give me a shout for day trails you could explore.
Gonna meet up with my wife in the way back so no detours.
O my goodness the water is going to be cold and amazing 😊
Great trip and videos!! But have patience. You aren't in the lower 48 anymore. Life is different there. Your patience will be rewarded with amazing experiences.
We just got back from Fairbanks. Some of the same roads we saw all kinds of wildlife the bear count was 28 great trip.
17:00 "it's like a little apartment" - You can tell he's from the Vancouver area.
After your last video of jeep break downs you are very brave to travel so far in a jeep .
The Epic Adventure Family did it two Jeeps with no issues.
Hope you made your obligatory donation to Diamond Tooth Gertie!
Talk talk talk.
Sounds like you need to do the Pan American if you want that remote adventure!
We just did the Dalton highway last week. We are planning on driving the Dempster next. We hear the Dempster is more scenic. Prudoe Bay is cool to experience but it’s kind of an anticlimactic end to a very expensive journey. Especially since you can’t legally drive to the Arctic Ocean. I really think the PanAmerican highway northern terminus should be moved to Tuktoyaktuk
I have always wanted to drive the Dempster Highway!
Yukon Ho! Keep an eye out for Calvin and Hobbes.
15:43 your idea of dirty is very cute
Not use to all the quiet. Stay safe you guys.
Great video, hopefully the ferries are moving again at the time of the video. I have an off topic question- how do you get the patches to stick to the headliner in the Jeep or any of your other vehicles? Thanks for the videos and stay safe. Ken
You're welcome.
driving to alaska from the central valley for my honey moon next summer
I hope you guys did the sour toe cocktail in Dawson! ;)
Dawson City "kinda famous for gold mining" 🤣 One of the greatest migrations of humans in history - to the Klondike gold fields.
Yo Brad...soooo happy you are so happy and joyful on your biggest adventure. Press on young fellow. Ha. Kirk Out.
Great trip. The way you go to the Arctic is it mostly four-wheel-drive travels?
Let that beard you got going to the end of the trip Brad
👍
👍👍😀
Awesome trip so far! Has to be a great time! In regards to your big horn sheep sightings! When I lived in San Diego I took a drive out to Anza Borrego in the spring to see the flowers and over to the palm trees, I saw quite a few big horn sheep there! From what I heard that is a common sight! You guys stay safe out there!
You haven't seen any big wildlife, but make no mistake. They have seen you!
Hope you have a tow strap for the jeep.
Thanks for sharing! Excited to see both of your videos on the trip!
Good video and thank you much
😅
Small pump with a hose to wash your truck with river water.
Curious, have you aired down at all for the dempster, if so, how much?
while your up there i would look into the story of the mad trapper of rat river its a amazing true story
I love Indonesia
Brad, did you air down for the Dempster? If so how much, Thanks
I told you you left too early!
👍 Great update. Stay safe.
While in Dawson city did you try the dirty toe cocktail
Great video Brad. Thanks for sharing.
OK, you said you decided to go early, to avoid the bugs, but also say it’s probably too early to cross the rivers. Does not compute. 🤔
Just wondering, have you done any off-roading, 4-bying? Or is this/was just a MEGA road trip?
