  • In this video we make another set of tongs from Railroad spikes. The last time we did this that video became our most popular one to date, let's make that happen again!

    wow ,! was so short!!!! tongs in less than 10 minutes, never got to see the rivets going in though, kinda disappointed that the video was so short , however, nice pair of tongs !!

      We appreciate the feedback! This video was a bit on the shorter side, we usually try to stick to around 10 minutes. That’s what seems to preform the best with the CZcams algorithm.

    Is there some benefit to using RR spikes? Is the steel particularly good for tongs? Because I've seen a lot of videos about making tongs from spikes that all start with removing the characteristics that make them RR spikes. Why not just start with stock and avoid that work?

      We make things from railroad spikes because they’re easy to get for free or very cheap. In a lot of cases it would be easier to start from regular bar stock if you want to pay for it! Also “Making Tongs From Rail Road Spikes” has become kind of a trend, and the CZcams algorithm ranks videos with a title like that pretty well. We hope you enjoyed the video!
