A Runeteera Player Tries to Guess How Good Hearthstone Cards Are
• A Runeterra Player Tri...
Rarran, RegisKillbin, Zeddy, trump, thijs and other hearthstone youtubers all play different hs gamemodes. Duels, Battlegrounds, Standard, Arena and Wild are in the game that can new cards from new expansions to climb and win HS games.
Hearthstone is a card game based on WOW, it is also a digital card game.
Legends of Runeterra is a 2020 digital collectible card game developed and published by Riot Games. Inspired by the physical collectible card game Magic: The Gathering, the developers sought to create a game within the same genre that significantly lowered the barrier to entry. - Hry
Thanks to Rarran (aka the best HS content creator out there) for having me
I still have all my old cards in a box in my wardrobe. Though i never really got much farther than buying a couple Starter decks of the first 2 sets and a few packs and then playing a friend if they came over.
"super cheap" - only the bulk cards. The chase cards are still insane amounts of money.
@@vezokpiraka who says you need the chase cards? There are no tournaments where these cards would be needed anymore so you can just build whatever you want for fun :)
Are you selling your cards to me in bulk, sir?
@@natejames3299 I still have binders and thousands of cards from the first few sets along with the raids but no one seems to want to buy them
ekop really does get invited to everything
I still don't know who monk is
holy fucking shit i forgot about this meme, jesus it feels so long ago
That was a really great show! I saw Ekop talking about this game in the old days and he brought the cards to tournaments to play it with other players. Sidenote: Kibler was a card designerfor this game.
Holy shiet Ekop? Rarran never fails to amaze me when bringing great ones.
Rarran you made me return to hearthstone...idk if I should thank you or hate you
same, rn I play only wild and every aggro encounter is painful
It can't be that much worse than league anyway so I think you're fine...
@@HyperKryst I'm jealous of you, at least you can play around aggro decks
I miss hearthstone but my wallet says i don't
Welcome back :)
The WoW card game sounds like an awesome tool for DnD or something. 'Here is the Horseman's Horrifying Helm! If you laugh a scary laugh, you can prevent damage!' 'Do I have to do the laugh-' 'This is roleplaying! Yes you have to do that laugh!'
You should do a video where a newer hearthstone player tries to guess the power level of old hearthstone cards
Can't wait for "Hearthstone player tries to guess how powerful Hearthstone cards are"
The card I remember the most from this game was Confessor Mildred. It’s ability was “Pay 2 mana, destroy Confessor Mildred-> destroy target ability.” You’d activate the effect by paying the cost of 2 mana and destroying the card. Then your opponent would activate an effect to destroy Mildred, trying to negate the effect. You’d spend the next 5 minutes trying to explain to them that they can’t destroy Mildred because it was already destroyed and that their isn’t (at the time) anyway to prevent Mildred’s effect. You needed a judge every time because nobody believed you
Also, Leeroy was in every agro deck at the beginning of the game. You’d hear people yelling Leeroy Jenkins all day at events
Just Alliance decks thou...
Like the early days of Yu-Gi-Oh and people trying to Mystical Space Typhoon spell cards thinking that they could negate them by destroying them.
@@Noobie2k7 exactly
I believe the confusion there comes from the fact that it would work in MtG, as effects played in response resolve before the effect that triggered them
@@renatamaclean1163 Not really. Sacrificing the ally is the COST for activating that ability. You cant respond to that destroying the ally. You can only respond to the effect. Thats the same in Magic.
Imagine calling a Judge cause your opponet's laugh isnt scary enough
People getting called out for cheating because they're using voice modulation software to make their laugh scarier and then the player arguing that it doesn't say in the rules that he can't amplify the laugh.
Title should probably be ..."how good cards are from the OG WoW TCG" (or Card Game instead of TCG).
Because right now I had no clue what this video was about before I clicked it. Great video though.
Edit: Way better Title. Good on you Rarran.
This game was absolutely wild. Best TCG I've ever played.
There was a "meta", but the fun part about this game was that you could play whatever the heck you wanted. Any strategy was viable enough to win games.
I remember one game I played with a friend that last for more than 3 hours (1 game out of 3, we didn't even have time to finish it). My deck was DK bullshit control that had both late game threats and the damn ring that destroyed heroes. His deck was some insane druid build that simply stalled the game completely and reshuffled his GY in his deck so he was just waiting for me to mill out. (I also had that quest, but I could only use each once, while he replayed them) It got extremely tense when I played the ring and he only had one single equipment destruction card and he spent all his 20 mana in search for the damn card just to cast it with the last two and continue to extend the game.
Those are the best kinds of matches! Doesn't matter who wins or loses, just have fun :)
I used to play a Murloc Poison Tipped meme deck that somehow had a pretty reliable wincon even tho 45 of the cards were just the 1 cost murloc coastrunner unlimited ally! Even won a tournament with it once!
Yup, Ekop's in everything!
I really hope there's enough roleplay cards to make a viable deck of nothing but roleplay cards, so that you can trigger effects by making the sounds they require, absolutely bamboozling your opponents with multiple triggered effects per turn. I could absolutely see someone like Disguised Toast doing this.
And you combine that with specific effect like the its december so you can unveil your master plan as you laugh maniacally
There isnt. Just a few comemorative special cards at seasonal event, and a few other here and there.
the game died before HS came out xD
@@OrdemDoGraveto dammit, that sucks. But wild they exist in the first place.
@@TooTsaka right now, the only reason people buy the packs are to get the rare mounts/pets, which the placed as promo cards in various packs.
Case in point the Spectral Tiger comes from these packs and is valued at roughly 900 USD.
I played this game all the time growing up. I still have a bunch of starter decks and all the raids. Sometimes I get friends together to do a raid on a game night. I miss this game so much. So fun 💕
Ooh. Ooooh. I have to watch this when I have time. Been working on a collection of the old WoW TCG cards for a couple years now. They did some really cool experimental stuff with it! Like Single Player/PvE modes. Even "boss battle" decks.
On Sava'gin the Reckless, Rarran appeared to read its stash effect as possibly targeting his own allies. "Random opposing hero or ally" is different than "random opposing hero or friendly ally". A land with either a small upside or a big upside, with no chance at a downside, is way better than a land with an equal chance of upside or downside. I feel like he probably guesses closer without that misunderstanding.
Yeah, i feel like that was an issue calling all followers/units allies. Likely why they changed it when Hearthstone was made.
You should absolutely go through the old TCG cards.
They’re pretty awesome. The raid decks are also amazing.
I own several and I still play them with my friends sometimes.
The raids decks really offer a unique experience that Hearthstone does not capture at all.
I would love to see more Wow tcg content. I loved this game! Please more! It's a lot of fun and I love the cards Ekop presented
I love your content man! Have a fantastic day
That Blizzard ability is honestly super cool (pun intended) but just for knowing how blizzard works in WoW. You can channel it pretty much permanently, keeping the effect going. But if you cast something else, it ofc stops the blizzard channel.
Ekop... I haven't seen him for a while :D
Ekop!!!!! I miss the hearthstone fight night days, almost a decade ago now. Rarran brings the people together
Turns out ekop truly is in everything! Jokes aside, great video man was a good watch
that 2nd card was a trap, not having it explained that ally = minion. I could tell that card was decent because it's free 2 damage to random enemy target, if you are going first and in your hand 2 damage to face
I still have my collection of WoW TCG and this was alot of fun being reminded of hpw enjoyable the game was
In HS blizzard would also have a line about not gaining mana crystal too, but it would still be toxic being so low mana and lasting more than a turn.
I feel like the game would be radically different though if it contained ongoing spell cards. As there would have to be cards printed that interacted with them. Though knowing Blizzard they'd print a single understatted Epic neutral minion at like 4 mana that destroying Ongoing effects and think that's enough.
@@Noobie2k7 Technically, there was counterplay in that pure hero base deck could shrug it off but it was still described as one of the best mage spells ever printed. However different the game is it's a very powerful tech card for a very cheap price, 2 mana resources to activate the effect alone would be pretty decent that cheaper, and better than the cone of cold in a game where it cost 1 card to get a mana resource. Even if you do counter the effect its at least 1 for 1 and doesn't deal with the fact your minion and possibly your hero.
The ongoing effect cost is optional, the spell is small enough that you can do other things within the same turn,it pings things, and it has strong resiliance to counter play. It's also in a class that you can expect to have a ton of burn spell. At the end of the day if the company tried to balance it with other card it most likely make the game unplayable.
I love this video. May you add the Chaotic TCG and the Force of Will TCG to your list of card games?
Ekop has not changed one bit since 10 years ago xD I appreciate the beard consistency
no way new rarran video? my day became better
I forgot Ekop existed! Now it's all flooding back
Cards like Leroy Jenkins and The Reason For The Season make me think the developers of the WoW TCG weren't taking things entirely seriously- like if Wizards of the Coast had made Unglued and all its ridiculous sequels playable in standard Magic.
I would love a video about crazy effects from the WoW TCG
The legend himself, Ekop
OK so can we just have a video where we scroll through some cards in this game, I would love to just have a chill video where we all just laugh at weird cards
I honestly wish that Blizzard would find a way to make an online version of the original TCG. I still have my paper cards in a box somewhere. Though i never got super into it, just bought a couple of the starter decks and a few packs from the base set Azeroth and then The 2nd set The Dark Portal. It was a lot of fun as a game.
I wasn’t aware there was another wow card game 😂
imagine if the supported a christmas archetype with cards that said "Ongoing: It is December"
I haven't seen Ek DansGame p in eons. What a blast from the past! And i even from pre-HS past! Wowee
I bought wow tcg box set with cheap price 2 years ago. At that time I'm so happy unboxing it because it's like collectible and rare item in here
Oh man, I have some cards of this game. I don't have a deck or even know how to play I just remember seeing a pack of WoW TCG and bought it because I thought it was cool.
Crazy to think I'd ever see a video about it.
Holy shit, reminds me of the good old days. Still have a few boxes of commons and uncommons and a binder of tournament promos.
Considering the massive restrictions when it comes to deck-building, that abilities, weapons and allies must be compatible with your chosen hero, I get the strong feeling that this TGC was mainly designed to sell booster. A big amount of boosters. Imagine starting out with two heroes available to you and you only pull cards you can't even put into your deck. While the gameplay system is certainly okay, the deck-building is just ridiculous.
NGL wasn't expected to see WOW TCG here!
TOTALY POGGERS!
I like that the real card game mechanics, like your neighbours need to know you are Leeroy Jenkins.
That art reminds of the rogue card that was in new expansion
I'd love to see what he thinks about other old discontinued card games. Like the Naruto CCG was super cool and unique. No other card game I've played before or since has ever given me quite the same experience.
I side boarded in hearthstone in my equipment Warrior build if I won game 1 and would set up a full board of equipment conceded game 2 and then start game three like 10 mana ahead. Was fun, memey but fun.
Am I the only one who is amazed by his two different eye colours?
I used to have SO MANY of these cards when i was a kid, then lost them due to flood damage. never got to play either.
I remember beating Ekop in a top 8 match at a tournament back then, it got me an iPod. Goes to show how long ago it was...
With the Gwent name drop I would LOVE for u to review some Gwent cards 👀
Did not realise Leeroy Jenkins was part of the TCG too
Idk if this would work too well, but I could see this type of video being done for PVZ Heroes, as it is a game that is slightly similar.
Isnt pvz heroes a mobile game tho ?
I would also love a PvZ Heroes episode.
I think Fry could a funny guest.
Just for the title, have my like. You guys should definitely try Cometh Battle. Definitely a better game.
How do you resolve the random effects in a physicial tcg?🤔Dice?
Hey Rarran, idk if you ever heard about the DragonBall Super card game(the best game ever). It’s super fun and pretty much plays like if magic, yu-gi-oh and pokemon had a baby. My point is you should test yourself on cards in that game and see if you can find the difference between the good and the bad. A really cool feature about the game is we have leader cards that you synergies your deck around so you could also see if you can tell a good leader apart from a bad one. Love the content keep it up! 😊
I didn't know the WoW TCG had so many versions of Mesa Chicken.
I used to play that game casually before Hearthstone was a thing back in 2011, or 2012. I am curious how many people still play. I thought they stopped making the cards as well.
man, warcraft TCG, what a blast from the past
Man wish hearthstone card designs have like half of the humor of this game. Such hilarious card and fun ideas!
We comment on these because the content is fire
When I saw the original title about the game Hearthstone was based on, I thought, "Magic?"
It's like a MTG "Un" set, except that's the tournament legal game.
Surprised he didn't show WoW TCG Maiev.
What effects do you have?
Yes.
Man Wow tcg was fire i loved the raid fighta
WOW TCG damn that brings back memories
Hearthstone (the card) would be useful in a cheesy equipment deck, which wins game 1, concedes game 2 with it sideboarded in, and in case you are losing then play it and thens
starts with a huge game 3 adventage .
Playing and activating it costs 12 mana though, realistically how many equipment cards can you get in play and still pull that off before the opponent just kills you?
I just imagine an E-Sport Tournament with these cards and people just start to yell "LEEEEEEEEEEROY JEEEEEENKINS!" or just start to laugh randomly... damn this would be fun :D
Ekops in everything
i totally forget that this card game existed
Prestor seems kinda like Kazakusan. I wonder if that inspired the Hearthstone team to make the latter.
6:06 no, but we have 4 mana 20 attack :)
When I saw the Hearthstone card I was like "This is either unplayable or mandatory in every deck". In theory you can just see how the first game goes and if you're losing play Hearthstone to accept the L and autowin next game. The problem I saw is that you're giving up a slot in the deck to a card that only help you if you already lost and is a dead card if you didn't but I imagine if the effect was cheaper it could potentially have been an autoinclude in all decks.
Interesting thing about WOW TCG resources is that in general it was a lot more loyal (atleast in theory) to this "tech" space cards, because there are a lot less time when card is real dead weight to you because... Well, atleast you need to play your resources :)
So yeah, this still couldn't save many interesting cards from being unused (again, you don't want to bring card that you want to play just as a face-down resources), but it something.
regards to these guessing games i would like to see disguised toast and noxious as former HS streamers having a go at a video like "Tries to Guess How Good current HS Cards Are"
You should do a video in which you try to review silver-bordered Magic card, you would have fun.
thought the same, these are just worse versions of the un-set cards xD
@@ich3730 I wouldn't say that they are worse. I liked these card very much, but I think that Rarran would enjoy that Magic has several non tournament legal sets based on the concept of bizarre and unconventional cards.
Oh man there's so much more to the WoW TCG :D In a way, it's more similar to MtG than to Hearthstone, but obviously they have many things in common. Such a great TCG
Surprised that Rarran thought Uldum was good considering it's a location that gives you a worse version of the death knight druid hero power, either gain 3 attack or gain 3 armor, but with the caveat that you already have to have a weapon or armor, and the armor only lasts for one turn. Not to mention it's a location so it can actually be interacted with and removed unlike a hero power.
Wow players always have the wow mic quality youd expect
Not sure if you know of the Dragon Ball Super Card Game but I would love to see you try guess some of our cards haha
Having to say leeroy Jenkins is the funniest thing I've ever seen.
This title made me think I was having a stroke
I want him to react to more magic cards. Exceot more of the whacky ones. Like karn
This game is wild
God, I pray he does Duel Masters
Anyone else see the fly at 1:24 xD
I recently played against Deathwing in an online tournament, and he got him out in all games reasonably fast, but I burned him down. So I think he is decent maximum
Funny thing I played my first tournament game ever in wow against Jan in 2010 :)
I’m not sure about the update to the description saga…
I wish the Christmas card was viable on December.
I'd love to see "magic player tries to guess how good Hearthstone cards are"
10:16 bolf ramshield
I wonder how some of these effects play out on a real world real cards game. Like Sava'gins random damage, how do you determine the target? do you have to roll dice? Or becoming a raid boss onyxia with the last card, do you need special cards for all your special boss abilities? Do you have to buy all these cards extra? ^^
For the random target, you just number all the possible targets and roll a die with at least that many sides; reroll if you roll higher than the highest target. For Prestor, you would need the entire raid deck (but that's a single box purchase, you don't have to open packs to try and build a raid deck.)
@@SethalaTheGamer Cool, thank you :) So it IS all analogue :D
Wow i actually used to play wow tcg before it died it actually replaced mtg for me. Throwback should be fun
Next one of these:

Imagine playing the reason for the season on january 31 online against someone ina different time zone where its december 1

Wait, what? :)
You timetraveled into the future?
(You probably mean december 31 and january 1)
@@Dreadnote-pf7of shh dont let them know
So you tell me with raid card I can just play tavern brawl in middle of a card game?
NOW WE TALKING
Honestly card like these could bw made just make them ultra hard to get but fun like ill lose 30 game in a row to win that one game where i transform into raid mommy onixya and then my opponent insta surrender
please do Netrunner some day
Looks like a good video but probably needs a better title
I’ll explain my reasoning.
Most people who have played hearthstone don’t know what the wow tcg is, and it is not a big card game like runeterra, magic or yugioh.
This title is much more engaging to click on and you immediately learn what the game is. I think the title is more than fine and the ctr/watch time look great
