That is the 5.4 3v. Terrible engine with an inadequate oil pump. Oil pressure drops slightly causing the cam phasers to slap and its only downhill from there. If you fix it install the melling high flow oil pump and make sure the cam journals and bottom end bearings are good.
Thanks for the advice. Ever since I got screwed buying a Lightning, I no longer touch anything with a Ford modular, or Ford in general. Lost like $10k on that truck, and drove it less than 1,000 miles, so I still have the bad taste in my mouth. 😖
@@NaritasanStudios yeah it really is. So I’ve got an 01 Ford F-150 xlt 4x4 with a 5.4 engine. Is my engine a 2 valve or 3 valve? I need a new truck tho. The head gasket is leaking causing a miss in the morning at first start up.
@wyattsdad8561 I have a video with an old Jeep Liberty that had a crackt head gasket and I used the Blue devil head gasket sealer and it worked. The bottle even says 100% guaranteed. Follow the directions on the bottle.

That’s a 7 thousand dollar truck in my mind: hella miles and things are starting to go out on it.
You would have to put a new timing chain in almost right away. Might as well rebuild the engine while you're at it. 🎉
Most of us already have a leaky piece of sh!t with high miles so why buy another one
If it’s got plastic intake with that many miles then there’s gonna be problems

According to Google an 01 would be a 2 valve
