- It's fair to say Superman star Henry Cavill and Radio 1 Breakfast show host Nick Grimshaw didn't have the best interview.

Interviewer wants a immature interview.
Gets an insightful one. Proceeds to ridicule the interviewee.
This man shouldn’t be an interviewer at all.
title should be "Henry Cavill manages to give interesting insightful answers to brain dead questions"
CyberSpaceCoyote Amen to that brother 😎
Interesting pretentious answers** It's Superman, not the Godfather
It's radio 1 dude the target audience is 13-18 year old
There’s an awful tudors interview where they fast forward Henry’s entire interview until the woman interviewing him got to ask him cheeky questions. It’s awkward and rude.
This interviewer is brain dead 💀 ☠️
Henry is much more educated and well-informed on the topic because he IS Superman. I absolutely hate when interviewers go into it thinking they are more knowledgeable about the character than the person playing them.
Bless Henry's heart, he did this horrible interview with such class and poise. The man is KNOWN for his modesty and humility but leave it to the media to belittle that.
I found this interview quite offensive. How can Nick Grimshaw be so childish? Henry Cavill is so professional and quite frankly, a gentleman. He is SO professional and mature in answering questions. Why would Nick ask such questions to such a respectable actor?
+Keshika Sri Karthikeyan and on top of that he even complains about his answers and makes fun of Henry. I used to kind of like this dude for his Hunger Games interviews, but now he totally lost my respect...
I totally agree thank you for that!
His sense of humour is a bit juvenile. A lot of people are into that. Demand, supply.
Keshika Sri Karthikeyan I agree! Nick needs to grow up and actually I was getting annoyed just listening talk shit
The lisping camp twat derides Cavill for speaking like an actor. Who knew?
Henry Cavill comes across well. Grimshaw is a child.
True, that.
I don't know who this Grimshaw dude is, but I hate him.
He didnt have the balls to say anything to Henrys face, unsurprisingly. Nick is too basic for cinema. Stick to fawning over harry styles and the kardashians
Screw these jealous, pompous, petty little weasels. Henry is a class act, these guys can just go and cry in their little corner because they have to make fun of a celebrity to make themselves feel good about themselves.
Nick Grimshaw is just a shitty person dude, I would never do an interview with him if I was a celeb
lol a year later and I am still getting thumbs up on this comment! Freakin awesome. I am glad I am not the only one who thinks Nick Grimshaw is full of shit
What was the interviewer's problem...? I don't get his negative attitude.. Henry wasn't rude or anything... honestly, it's confusing.
Seriously, it seems Henry Cavill was being gracious and professional.
Hello, contact me on my public mail
Seems jealous to me.
@@paxy217 I was going to say that! Besides being awesomely handsome, Henry is so smart! It must bother this guy!
It's fair to say Henry Cavill is more intelligent than anyone in that studio by some magnitude
Grimshaw is not worthy to interview the mighty Henry Cavill.
Not to judge in X Factor either.
A bit rude to take the piss out of someone who has passion for a role, sorry who are you Nick Grimshaw?
...brainsexual
the fuck? Henry was being totally normal, mature, and respectful. Shame that the interviewer didn't treat Henry the same way.
Oh shut up they were feeling light hearted not every thing has to be so serious,
@@serenehorizons3305 He wasn’t feeling lighthearted. He is very very narrow minded and his questions were ridiculous and because Henry still took it seriously he decided to hate on him. That should never be allowed.
@@serenehorizons3305old comment but shut up lol. the interviewer was joking around, being immature asf and henry didn’t want to. 😐 you can tell they weren’t feeling each other.
is he saying the bad interview was Henry's answers?
henry is an old school, very professional, nice guy. he gave you thoughtful answers and you're saying he was being pretentious and stuck up?
Interviewer was a prickly idiot.
Hello, contact me on my private mail
Cavill - as a posh public schoolboy, called HENRY no less, who is now a millionaire movie star playing Superman, with the world at his feet and no doubt having to brush women off him, should be very hard to like.
Yet he answers questions in what seems a truthful and interested manner and comes across as a guy living his dream and seems like someone who is very genuine. It didn't seem a staged interview - his answers prepared by studio execs because they crunched some test group stats.
He comes across as someone easy to like. Someone to root for even. I mean, to come across as "nice" in the kind of world he lives in, is impressive. Truly.
He is then spoke about negatively by Grimshaw - not to his face but behind his back on a radio show. I think it shows just how odious and malicious and cowardly Grimshaw is and his little harem of sycophants. It's pathetic behaviour.
That was incredibly well said.
+Zidean007 exactly that's what surprised me the most, the fact that he acted so unprofessionaly and he couldn't even say all of that to Henry's face, he did it behind his back (at least he's not that dumb).. I'm truly shocked
Very nicely put. I totally agree
AGREE
OMG. How is this guy employed?
because he latches onto celebrities like Harry Styles...
DellyBellyTea333 so true
He’s honestly such an ignorant prick
The word awkward in the title should be replaced with rude
Grimshaw is a disgrace. Does he even know the pressure of what it's like to be Superman? The way he was talking about Henry Cavill. Disrespectful and immature.
I don't have a problem with the actual interview. Sometimes you just don't click. Henry wanted to give serious, insightful answers and Nick wanted a funny conversation, and neither adjusted to the other. That's okay, it's awkward, but whatever. But to go on national radio, and openly make fun of the actor you interviewed is not only unprofessional but it’s also bullying. That’s just disgusting, and the fact that BBC Radio 1 approved it just exacerbates that.
And that they uploaded it with this title?? ICB
True
I totally agree with you. That can be considered bullying and it’s just so immature. He shouldn’t be a journalist.
I am stunned into silence. The nerve of this "interviewer" is appalling. To talk so harshly about an actor on the radio and try to say that he was the one that needed to be saved...I just can't. This dude was a major douche to Henry and I think Henry gave excellent answers to rather thoughtless questions. I also have to agree with Henry on ALL his answers. Superman isn't one of the most famous people of the world (he's fictional for goodness sakes). Superman doesn't want to be seen. He doesn't stay for photos after saving people and he definitely doesn't want to be famous for saving them. He saves them because he has a desire to help people who need it. He has the power and ability to, so why not. And saying the cape shows he wants to be seen just shows how much this guy DOES NOT know about comics. And Henry is right to say that he respected he costume. He knows what it could do not only to his career but also the damage it could have done to the movie if photos leaked. IJFC!!!
Grimshaw's being a complete prat. Describing comic heroes as modern mythology is common these days and is a good way of thinking about them. The Greeks had Hercules back in the day for example, and he was pretty much a super hero. As for the rest Cavill was being professional and giving honest, thoughtful answers, taking into account that Superman/ Clark Kent is a character, not just a characature.
I was hoping to see an interview with a pompous, arrogant movie star. What a disappointment.
when he answered the questions seriously the interviewer didn't like it, and then when he used a light-hearted response he didn't like that either. Perhaps if the interviewee had matched the presenter's camp, inane squawking it might have gone down better.
lol this is so true
Good lord. My respect for Cavill just increased significantly.
What is wrong with this Nick guy? Could you be any more rude? Henry is such a gentleman who is giving in depth answers and all this fool keeps doing is interrupting him. What a joke.
Mr. Cavill is such a gentleman. What a great guy. Seriously, he seems like a stud.
The guy is a pervert.
@@insaneone4369 Whyyy?
@@insaneone4369 lmao how?
@@venla5375 the fact that it’s been 2 years and that bozo still hasn’t answered means that he’s just jealous of Henry and he has no right/ real answer of it
Nick Grimshaw knows nothing about Superman and is laughing at perfectly accerate, perceptive explainations. Good way to make fun of yourself.
How an interviewer can single handedly insult and undermine someones profession whilst simultaneously attempting to be 'nice' truly baffles me. His cheap showbiz questions prove unfruitful, not due to Henry's apparent 'delusion' that his character is real, quite the opposite; it is in fact due to the sole reason that his questions are quite frankly, childish, insulting and disparaging. It is clear that Henry feels compelled - as would anyone accepting such a privilege - to defend his acting prowess, and the genius of the producers/ screen writers that helped put the film together. I just can't believe that given the time with such an actor, that would would fail to ask such questions as: "do you think the world is in need of Superman?" "Are the current outbreaks of war a prroblem to which Superman would prove useful?" Nick fails to address the notion of superman as a role model, instead, looking to him as a hunk of meat, basking in stardom. The entire journey of superman - child to man - addresses the issue of what makes us human, and what is it to be a man? His cathartic journey represents the fact that there is both good and evil, not just externally, but within ourselves. Instead of truly realising the full potential and greater implications of such a super hero, Nick offers (a generous term) a rather trashy and clumsy approach, failing to truly grasp the greater implications of the idea of a world role model, a saviour, and in some ways a christ-like figure.
Since I love the movie Man Of Steel, I've seen other interviews, and I'm 100 % sure that Cavill is one of the most kind actors we've seen so far, he takes time to answer, even in this interview since the questions weren't so good, he still tried to take them seriously.. They should be thanking him, and the interview wasn't awkward at all, but this video made it so... And glad I've read your comment, gives me hope to the world, peace :D
Henry Cavill really is the most humble, beautiful soul & Grimshaw can just take a long walk off a short pier for all I care...
I think the problem is that Cavill's doing a job and takes it seriously and that Grimshaw is an idiot who thinks a haircut makes a good radio career. I mean when you refer to a fictional character as an historical character people will assume you're an idiot. Rightly so in this case, I think.
Anyone who says Henry is boring clearly doesn't understand showbusiness. He clearly didn't like the form of the interview, because it wasn' professional and it was almost taking the mick out of him. He may have had to cancel an interview that day with another company to accomodate R1, and a 5 minute interview with shit questions may have pissed him off. I'm a big fan of both these two, but I'm on Henry's side here more than Grimmy's. I can understand why he got wound up
Superman = one of the most famous people in history. Except the fact that the character is fictional and 75 years old. Yeah sure compare him to Aristotle, Caesar or Shakespeare. What could go wrong?
Henry did a great job of answering these questions. There is an art in phrasing pertinent questions when interviewing someone that was not accomplished here.
When was radio 1 run by 12 year olds?
You heard what they play? Useless.
Henry did a great job here. He is no fool. He knew what type of interview this was going to be after the first q. By the end, look at his face. He was thinking, "What other time-wasting question do you have next?" He was never going to lose his cool. He has answered all interviewers in a serious manner before and after this one. Good on him. This is a big deal for him. He wasn't all serious either, because he was playing this prick's game as well. Well done Henry.
It’s embarrassing that BBCR1 thought it was appropriate to upload this when one of its presenters is so disgustingly rude. Henry gave good answers and I enjoyed listening to him talk and nick grimshaw ruined it by being childish and bratty
Why exactly is this radio person picking on such a gentleman as Henry Cavill? No class.
Henry is a man and this nobody is a little baby who is probably was so intimadated by Henry's looks and his way of handling his immature actions gracefully that he thought making fun of Henry would make him look cool. He should have gone and look in the mirror before he did that because neither his inside nor his outside is near good. Henry is at a major place, a place where this loser can never dream of being. He reminds me of those kids who tries to beat up Clark in Man of Steel. He can stay being irrelevant.
henry cavill is being professional and he's just talking about his character so i actually hate grimshaw in this interview
First of all, Henry is quite mature and respectful and he speaks so eloquently I think it flew over that idiot Nick's head. He had the opportunity to interview someone who actually cared and wanted to answer the questions as best he could and the interviewer was sitting there asking ridiculous questions
So painful to watch . Interviewer comes across as a complete boor. Cavil takes his job seriously unlike Grimshaw (can't believe public money is spent paying his salary)
Nick Grimshaw is too immature to understand where Cavill was coming from. Cavill meant that Superman’s ‘intention’ isn’t to get noticed, even though he does end up getting noticed. Two different things. Clark Kent/ Superman, is meant to be a humble, giving and heroic person, who doesn’t seek attention. He wears the suit he wears, because it’s the only suit given by his real father Jor-El and the S symbol on the suit stands for Hope in cryptonian language. Jor-El outlined the noble purpose/ responsibility that came with wearing this suit. Not to “Show-Off”.
Cavill was unfortunately limited with what he could or could not say back to Grimshaw, due to the film’s release at the time of this interview. He still managed to give him educated, clues-on answers however.
I can’t fathom why Nick Grimshaw even got into this career of interviewing stars. He has no class and professionalism to him whatsoever. He should consider himself lucky that Cavill didn’t walk out on him.
Henry cavill is very professional and polite
Interview description; Grimshaw 0-Cavill 1. Grimshaw 0-Cavill 2. Grimshaw 0-Cavill 3. Grimshaw 0-Cavill 4...and like that until the end. Conclusion; Grimshaw is half stupid and gets cross because Cavill let everyone see it. END.
HALF-stupid? No, wholly thick and utterly unfunny.
So, I don't get it. Who the f*ck does Nick think he is? You ask inane questions, what types of answers do you expect? Henry responded with professionalism because he not only was representing himself, but essentially, he was representing this new Superman franchise. You give another, more professional interviewer the same questions with the same responses from Henry, and there would be no issues at all.
Honestly to this day I still don’t know how or why Nick Grimshaw still has a job.
Very good question! He is the worst interviewer in the world.
Here's my take on this I guess. The interview was a bit awkward just because Henry Cavill and Nick Grimshaw have totally different senses of humor etc, like Henry Cavill was not down for having a laugh about the movie or anything. The thing that I think is actually disconcerting is that Grimmy gets to tell his end of it but Cavill doesn't necessarily. They are probably both nice people, but it is a bit unfair that Grimmy gets to kind of bitch about him on air... Because really who knows maybe Cavill just had a horrible day that day I dunno.
I agree.
You make the understandable of imputing to Grimshaw a personality, he's just a silly twit.
But Cavill was being gracious and intelligent. He's not "having a bad day"
Nick Grimsaw was just being low brow and insulting in his comments post interview. He's also trying to insult Cavill by attempting to ridicule his intelligent answers.
Nick Grimsaw here reminds me of the common garden idiots you meet who ask things like "Why are you reading?" Whilst proudly telling you that they haven't read a book since they left school.....
The questions weren't that bad, but Grimshaw was no match to Henry's intelligence and professionalism. The problem being neither were willing to mirror the other. A few smiles more wouldn't have gone amiss from Henry.
Yeah, Nick is rude here. Obviously, Henry knows really well about the character and Nick doesn't. So, I don't think Nick has the right to make fun of Henry's thoughts on Superman/Clark Kent.
Today's world where movie stars are polite & professional while the interviewers are not.
Let me explain what's going on here. A bunch of people are messaging their ego, by feeling that they got a one up on someone who everyone else views as superior to them in every way (well, he's flavour of the moment at least). Someone at a level that's unattainable by them, so they'll try to ridicule, pick him apart, to show that "he's not all that", so they feel above him. "Haha, look he's stupid and didn't understand our (rather witless) "funny" questions because he didn't answer in exactly the way we wanted, there's no substance to what you see".
Cavill just doesn't seem like the most extroverted, chatty type that's comfortable with the limelight and being put on the spot. Does that mean he should be humiliated for it? No. "Well, there're just having a laugh". Sure (& I admit a bit of it was funny), but in these types of situations, there's always that extra bit glee that indicates the satisfaction they're getting goes a bit deeper, which, if you're not one to be easily fooled by what things are sold as, is clear.
Just wasting my time "calling them out", & letting it be known that I'm fully aware of what was really going on in their pathetic gleeful circlejerk.
Those answers weren’t just for the plonker asking questions but his listeners. Henry handled it so well providing eloquent answers and really illustrating his character.
As a fan of Superman (much like the majority of those who'd bother to watch that interview), I appreciate how seriously he answers the questions... and it's his professional obligation not to alienate us.
Jealous.... much? Henry is such a gentleman.
This is what sincerity vs insincerity looks like.
Seriously, Been listening to Radio 1 for over 20 years. Superman is one of the most Iconic and loved characters of all. He is a great comic book legend and the new films and great. So what do you do? Make a fool of yourself live on air to behave like a 12 year old. No fact a 12 year old would have more respect. Bring Chris back! Please!
I always used to like Nick but after seeing this I can't stand the man anymore why on earth does he think he has the right to be so stupid and then make fun of Henry for being smarter then him
Childishly mocking Cavill post-interview was a weak way to assert power over him. I think that a good interviewer has the foresight to consider the person he's interviewing - not impress his own style and personality on proceedings; the interview was more about "look at me, I'm Nick Grimshaw" than "let's get to know Henry Cavill a little better."
Ladies and gentleman, I give you Britain's TMZ.
The presenters were being petty and spiteful about Henry, i think he did a great job at explaining all the ins and outs of his experience on set, and he clearly takes his job more seriously than Grimshaw..
Nick is such a closeted two-faced child. He should thank his lucky stars that he's even in that position.
Am I the only one who thinks people like these have self issues hence trying to make fun of someone better than them to make themselves feel superior
I heard Henry in a interview that all he's heard was "no" for thirteen years! And so of course he's going to be serious in interviews he's been working hard to get known. He deserved a better interview and by someone who is mature.
The interview itself is fine cause Henry actually comes through with insightful answers to these thoughtless questions. Nick making fun of him afterwards like this and the unnecessary commentary is so unprofessional. How is this video still up? Ridiculous!
I remember hearing this years ago and being completely stunned at Nick Grimshaw. Really irritating to think some of the TV license I pay goes to this awful bloke. Oh well
The majority of society are dumbed down to think that's a great interviewer. The celeb industry is designed to dumb down society, where the media have types like Grimshaw, who act over excited by talentless celebs, so most people admire useless idiots who pay lots of money to promoters. It's an experiment to see how brainwashed society can get. Over hyped idiots like Kard' and Beck' are constantly forced in our faces, who are thick enough to not have any plans for their kids than selling into the talentless celeb industry to use for their own attention.
People even think cheap looking orange idiots are style icons. Until the international bankers who run the USA and Britain plan WWIII. Like how councils all over the country are spending time and money waving the Ukraine flag, while 1000s are waiting on social housing waiting lists, while hardly any people question why any other news than what our government want people to think has been banned.
Chapeau bas for Henry! He's brilliant , he kept his cool throughout the interview! Amazing!
Game set and match to Henry Cavill! that Grimeshaw just comes across as one of those spiteful little queens! oh and how pathetic are his little studio sycophants!?
I don't get it he was just answering questions x
6:06 he´s like "i feel sorry for you bro". Henry is such a great person.
OMG! I love Henry, he's such a kindhearted gentleman, . And super smart. I just love his personality.
More like Henry cavill completely makes a fool out of a guy.
Henry Cavill seemed to respond genuinely and honestly but that isn't why Grimshaw was frustrated. The point is that Grimshaw's questions were of a light-hearted/whimsical nature whereas Cavill responded to them as though Grimshaw was James Lipton from 'Inside the Actor's Studio' thus making the interview rather tense and awkward as each jokey question was responded to with a seriousness that clearly wasn't necessary.
The point is the questions were childish and just in poor taste I wouldn't give answers to them either. Was hard to watch because he acts like a 12 year old school boy
Nick grimshaw= talentless
Henry cavill= superman
Nick Grimshaw is the definition of a simpleton.
It’s a shame we can’t see the amount of dislikes on a video any more. Maybe Superman/Henry can reverse time so we can see just how many people think Nick is being an utter pillock on this occasion.
Henry comes from a rich family right? All private school stuff? Damn... it's done him a lot of good. Very intelligent man. I would love to see him and Chris Hemsworth interacting and taking the piss out of each other on one of these talkshows. Would be funny to see Superman-Thor banter.
This journalist Nick someone is ridiculous. Find another job my friend.
I've watched Henry Cavill in a number of interviews and I have to say I love his thoughtful intellect in how he thinks about things and how he answers to them. Too bad that he had to waste his time and energy talking to this guy who only presented him with sarcastic questions and answers. He's had very great interviews though to make up for this one:)
The only thing awkward in this video is the interviewer himself.
Henry cavill can be funny and relax in interviews-- I have seen it countless of times! So the problem is not Cavill but the interviewer's approach on the interview!!
This is Radio 1 for you. Twelve year olds attempting to stand on the shoulders of giants.
Nick Grimshaw is not a nice person and Henry Cavill picked up on this vibe I'm sure.
Cavill is a humble, endearing guy and this interview was the worst becaue if the interviewer....
I've never seen Henry like this . I think he Sussed out early on that this interviewer is bad at his job and he seems ready to correct him when he can .
This interview pissses me off
Wow...the interviewer really doesn't know the superman story. Superman doesn't want to be a superhero but is just born one.
Surely the worst thing for an interviewer is when the interviewee does not answer the questions fully!
Yet Henry gives full and articulate answers and he’s mocking him?
So unfair
It felt less like an interview, more like a bully trying to insult Henry. You don't ask an actor whether he took tips how to change his character. By asking this sort of question, you are actually questioning his acting skills, which is definitely offensive.
Those rats are highly uneducated and have a superiority complex at the same time lol. A killer combo
Give a troll a mic...
good gracious... just stumbled over this and hope that this guy did never ever again interviews!
Why is he so mean? He asked stupid questions and Henry somehow managed to give great answers
The questions have nothing to do with it. Nick never met Henry before and wasn’t aware that Henry has a “polite contrarian” thing about him. The problem is Nick took offense to it even though Henry didnt mean anything by it.
Well I actually appriciate Henry giving thoughtful answers and not sounding like a broken record like every other actor "it was so much fun" "I had so much fun" "My costars are incredible" bla bla. And I love that he understands superman.
Henry gives such dignified answers...so proud of him!
Grimshaw is a national embarrassment.
This is how I picture Alexa Chung, Daisy Lowe, Pixie Geldof and Nick Grimshaw. Sitting around making fun of people. When their not sitting around they are interacting with the world so they have things to make fun of.
I can't believe Grimshaw was so unprofessional and childish! Henry Cavill is educated and intelligent and a gentleman! The only one looking like a fool in this video is you Nick Grimshaw!
I think this is the first video I've ever seen with more dislikes than likes and it's truly deserved.
how do this guy actually has a job on BBC? let alone people listen to him...jesus
A round of applause to Henry for not playing along with this, he was doing his best to answer the questions. I would be so embarrassed if someone interviewed me and then made fun of me! I didn't find this funny at all
I think the problem is Grimshaw is used to interviewing musicians more than actors ,so if the interviewer is wanting laughs and jokes with a musician then they will too, same goes if they want to be professional because it's their music on the line to have a good impression, though actors are representing the movie they are in so they need to be responsible and respectful towards the film and not joke about the comics and suits cos it's not theirs, anyone can make a joke or two but actors are promoting someone else's ideas that they happen to contribute too, not that hard to make questions suitable towards the profession
Nick Grimshaw = Jealousy personified.
Henry was extremely professional and even answered all the questions.
Theres an obvious difference in maturity levels here. Henry was trying to be respectful and answer his ridiculous questions and they took it as him being rude. Why would you go into an interview and then be upset when the subject is talking "too much." Henry was remaining a mature adult instead of some immature boy
