Thanks for taking the effort to show us the full spectrum of sword offerings. Both high and low!
You bet!
You don’t even realize how much I appreciate these videos! Thank you my friend!
Glad you like them!
Looking forward to the reviews on both of these.
a design that gives you the freedom to upgrade that sword in to a later period complex hilt design if you have hilt parts for other swords
Interesting, I don't remember seeing a sword you have to put together yourself before... but hey 2 swords for 200$? Gotta cut costs somehow.
Yeah buddy! Fun. Wow, an inexpensive strider, very cool! Looks almost identical to the Ryansword version. Hmm..... Have you ever handled that one?! Now i am really curious how they compare. That one is $320 and perhaps even slightly closer looking to the movie version. So definitely not the same sword rebranded, but darn similar.
Very interesting!
Does it appear to be peened or threaded? My guess is it is like the other one, with a thread welded on the end.... Better than rattail it seems, but not ideal.
I have been wanting to get the Ryansword version forever.... That one is at least peened. So i am really curious how they compare!
Thanks a lot friend!
Steve
I don't have any experience with the Ryansword one, no.
This one does not appear to be peened - I think the pommel is likely screwed onto a threaded rod welded to the tang.
I do appreciate the effort but I'm afraid my OCD me needs to know what you were saying instead of "Strider" all the time... otherwise I'll be stuck in funny guess mode for days :-p
I originally said Anduril. Got my LotR swords mixed up!
The first sword looks nice, except for the grip, which should become thinner closer to the pommel, that in turn should taper more to accommodate it. Doing so would fix the main aesthetic problem this sword has. I'm mentioning it since I don't think the changes would affect the price, and it's a missed opportunity for something better (assuming tang and steel and all that are not an issue).
For all the people that try to classify swords neatly: did this video show the unboxing of two swords? Or was it just one sword and one langmesser? 😀 >>> I guess the grip is just one block, not two slabs. But the tactical constructions (I don't like it) makes it closer in constructions to a traditional messer than a traditional sword.
The grip does taper in towards the pommel.
@@alientude It should do that more. More exactly, the pommel wants to be a mushroom type pommel. It would look better if it would be thinner at the point of contact with the grip. A waisted grip would achieve that, but that would be more expensive to do. Since I was thinking how to improve it while keeping cost the same, I would just make the radius of the grip's round cross-section a few mm smaller closer to the pommel, and thin the pommel contact point. It's a pet peeve of mine when it comes to cheap swords: I want to find ways to improve them while keeping the costs the same.
I’m not too hopeful about the swords, seeing as how you’re getting it from Amazon. They’re a good general store to get your products from, but not very good when you’re looking for something in particular that some other website would specialize in better than Amazon.
To be fair, these are fulfilled by Amazon, not actual Amazon products. But yes, I get what you're saying!
Look at you, bragging to your UK viewers with your ability to receive sword shipments by post. Must be nice... 😏
