    Just put up a monster game at my local barcade tonight: 3.3+ billion, and 174 loops. Once you get dialed in to the side ramp and the W-H-O combo, you can absolutely light this game up. Video Mode and multiball end up just being the icing on that big fat cake.

    I find that repeatedly tapping the right font corner of the cabinet often coaxes the ball to favor the TARDIS to start video mode. I generally use these with Doctor 1 active to spot escapes. Great tutorial. I learned I've been ignoring point opportunities.

    We have one of these at work and ive started playing it lately, I gotta say I had no idea of the loop strategy like that; that is intense man. Ive hit loops a few times but my style has been feed the bumpers for X then start multiball and trap 1 ball on the left flipper and plug the middle and left jacks then hit the right jack with the cradled ball before the right feed. After multi I go back to pops, its super conservative and takes a long time. Ive been working on that lately and it doing alright, but this loop game you have going here...scary points; ill be trying this LOL.
    Thanks Bowen,
    -Mitch

    I hate when I think I’m good at something and then find someone else is a hundred times better! You really are a pinball wizard! Great video but since I just recently started playing this game it was information overload. I always thought I needed to start multi-ball for big points. Wrong again.

    I'm not nearly as good a player as you are, but I do seem to remember one last mode on the raised playfield after the Daleks where you shoot spin targets to take down the Master (big jackpot for pulling it off). How do you get to that?

  • @Iliek
    @Iliek Před 6 lety +1

    My best games on Dr Who involved maxing out playfield multiplier and focusing on video modes and sonic booms. On the 4th and 5th rounds of video modes you get crazy massive points and depending on the machine's setup you get extra balls this way too. When playing for a high score I don't ever even try to start multiball and just let it happen if it happens. My high score is 2.6 billion at Pinballz in Austin, TX.

    The X timer is ticking even before you launch the ball. So tilting your game gives the next player a disadvantage.

  • @blacknwhite5451
    @blacknwhite5451 Před 3 lety

    I find I can hit the left loop continually and get the video mode, just doing this is very boring but you can still get a 1 billion plus score after a long time playing.
    Crazy how he can hit the center loop 115 times like that.

  • @cheesehead6710

    13:57 "O should be automatic." Huh. O-tomatic. That was terrible.

    • @cosmic-fortytwo
      @cosmic-fortytwo Před 6 lety

  • @AlphaLanguste
    @AlphaLanguste Před 2 lety

    Ive been playing this machine for a while now but mine has a bunch of differences to this one in the video.
    1. I dont get an extra doctor gifted on every ball. if i dont unlock any extra ill end the game on 1 doctor.
    2. when i start the multiball and i let the locked balls drain, the ball in play will return to me much faster then yours so that i can start the multiplier loops while the extra balls are being shot into the game. so i rarely have multiplier when starting multiball, but have full multiplier when getting first jackpot.
    3. Sonic Booms in W-H-O order still count as a W-H-O. AND after an O Loop in the W-H-O sequence the ball is let through and fed to the bottom left flipper rather than the top left flipper. (i think that second aspect is why you timed out the H while going for endless loops so that is probably the same)
    3 aspects i think you forgot about because they aren't optimal to play for but exist nontheless.
    when the 2nd doctor is active the hangon has a neverending escalating point bonus. ive gotten 100s of millions from a single hangon in extended games before where i played for that.
    when you complete the multiball jackpot three times (or was it 4?) you gain access to all 7 doctors for the remainder of that ball. so there is a tactic to just rush that and play for videomode and multiplier from that position.
    the multiball jackpot goes into a special mode after the first 3 or 4 (i dont remember exact number) jackpots and you get access to the dalek jackpot which is worth ridiculous amounts of points. thats how i got my personal highscore at 3.5 Billion points.
    overall little sad about this machine because the only way to play it for highscore without throwing your fate to the gods of rng is to go for multiplier loops which to me gets boring quickly. but still definitely one of the best ive ever played.

  • @McSquidification
    @McSquidification Před 6 lety +2

    Transmute gives you another doctor active at the same time. Draining with a doctor active does not "lock it in" so much as "lock it out" so you cannot choose it again or gain the benefit again until you have gone through all 7.
