It's kinda sad and funny. Cleveland was made to be the opposite of the "angry black man" stereo type and now he's just used as the "angry black man" stereo type.
Same goes for joe with crippled folk.
I’ve always thought he was just a pseudo “token” Black character. Showing many of the stereotypical stuff you see on sitcom television. But, skirting by just enough by giving him a few highlight traits as to make it not seem like such, all for the sake of having him on. I wish they wrote him better.

TCS definitely deserved more seasons. While not the BEST show, it was funny and had interesting stories--plus having black writers helped it feel more authentic.

I think Cleveland and his family are super underrated. I feel that out of all the Seth MacFarlane families, they are the most stable and normal. I have watched more episodes of the Cleveland Show in a week than i did for Family Guy in three months (trust me, I have been counting). Honestly, I am glad the Browns are rarely used in Family Guy. This show would most likely ruin them.

I need to add some corrections on how Peter was able to get the weapons. First the big one, all firearm purchaces require a federal background chek before every sale. That rule applies across every state in America. I also did a quick lookup on Rhode Island's laws and there's some extra restrictins that they place on purchaces as well. Handguns like the 2 that he handed out to Joe and himself require a 7 day waiting period before they can be released to the buyer. While you don't need a special licence to transport a firearm, they must be dissasembled, or in the case of a handgun, stored in a seperate contained until they arrive at the owner's home, place of business, or a firing range. Rhode Island doesn't have open carry laws, so every one of the guys would need to obtain a concealed carry permit in order to carry the weapons in their ready-to-fire state. Finally, Peter would be inelligable to purchase any of the firearms in the first place as one of Rhode Island's diqualifying factors to purchacing a firearm is mental incompetance which Peter cannonicaly has been documented to be.
I don't want to take away any of the other points of this video, but I do wish that there was more education on gun rights and how they are applied in this country.

4:48 Although it aired about two months before the final episode, I think "California Dreamin' (All The Cleves Are Brown)" was the next best thing to a proper finale. You had Cleveland getting another shot at that scouting job with The Dodgers (the job he was going for before stopping over in Stoolbend back in the pilot), but he stunk at it so he wanted to go back to Stoolbend, but the family didn't want to go back because they're all thriving with their separate things.
In fact, screw it. I'll go on a limb and say that episode was the true canon ending of The Cleveland Show. The Browns' return to Quahog makes more sense that way. Maybe Donna and Cleveland couldn't get their jobs back when they returned from L.A., so they had no choice.
Cleveland JR as a spy was a crazy spinoff they should have dropped.
I think it was strange that Cleveland waS out of Character during that Episode he should know Peter enough that he only shot Junior because he is Stupid amd not being Racist and I wish we got to see more of Cleveland’s family especially JR also Peter could not see Him because it was Dark so it was an accident.
How come we never saw Cleveland kids in school ? Maybe the High school is just big enough that we wouldnt see Jr and Roberta but what about Rallo we never see him in Stewie's pre school and its much smaller

Yeah, this episode is a letdown in comparison to how South Park did it. This may have been why the writers didn't center more episodes around Cleveland's family. They saw how it turned out.

Cleveland Jr was always my favorite character in the Cleveland Show. He's an awesome nerd but dorky in a charming way. Anyways yes it is too bad that ever since they canceled the Cleveland Show They haven't really used the characters in Family Guy like at all. One thing I do appreciate though is that the Cleveland Show definitely did make Cleveland Brown a more interesting character. He was honestly quite boring before getting his own show but then his personality developed on his own show and you can kind of see it reflected in Family Guy after the Cleveland Show was canceled. Not entirely but you kind of can. I do appreciate that Donna is a part of the show although she doesn't do much in very many episodes though.

The unwanted furniture on the curb stuff is actually quite common in bloomington IL where my friend lives, back in 2016 i took a bus up there and when we got in town, nearly every house had some furnishing on the curb they didnt want you could just take, was wierd culture shock as in the south your seen as a hick if you do that
The idea of the media exagerating a sensationalized story would have also been better covered in Homer Badman. Though the issue with that episode is they skip over the other channels that would have tried to call the babysitter a slut that deserved to get harrased.
I like the ending twist. It recontextualizes the episode and sorta stomps some of your critiques. Cleveland is mad Peter shot his son so in a petty way of getting revenge, he pretends to think Peter is racist. He knows Peter isn't racist, just extremely dumb.
I don't think doing the ending you suggested would have been for the best, it seems more on the ok ending side where it would be liked, but it would also be too generic for me to like. This isn't a feel good family show 24/7, and some episodes should end with a funnier twist rather than a sappy make up scene.
I do feel he killed the real Junior, but I got a crazier theory. This new Junior is in fact one of Peter's many kids he didn't have with Louis. Who is the mom? We may never know.

It's almost always just some set up or excuse to jump into the main plot.
Not saying I didn't wish stuff they do at the start actually factored into the rest of the episode though, just saying it's basically a formulaic structure nearly every episode I see follows.
As someone who has epiliepsy and hasn't seen the original Cleveland Jr. eprisode in over ten years (before I had epilepsy) that Cleveland joke made me laugh so damn hard
I have 2 theories as to why they barely use Cleveland's Family 1) They are worried about annoying the Family Guy fans with these other characters taking over the show. I get it not everyone is a hardcore fan. 2) Disney/ Fox won't let them use the Brown family very much.
Considering Cleveland's mother Cookie mentioned that she ran for mayor on the Libertarian party banner I think the Family Guy episode Old West would have been even if she had been Wild West's opponent with Cleveland Jnr. being her campaign manager.
I have a feeling this is about the fat CJ and not the original CJ. Getting Kitty's thought on both would be nice, especually given the "lore reason" why the original was replaced, but curious what she has to say nevertheless.
A season finale of the original CJ coming back, changed, to confront his replacement, and his own father for not even noticing, would have been very interesting to see. Would have been a nice goodbye to The Cleveland Show. For me, anyway.

I don't mind this episode but it's far from, a good one. I would call it a middle of the road episode. I'm going to write my idea for how to make this episode better, with Handicaps. I have to include the Neighborhood Watch stuff, Cleveland thinking Peter is Racist unprompted, and the situation has to play out exactly Cleveland JR enters his house through window, doesn't hear Peter, Peter shoots him. Let's do this! First I would shorten the length of Peter and the guys getting a drinking couch, having fun, and then have someone actually steal it, making it an actual crime, then have have a montage of a thief stealing from everyone's house. This inspires Peter and company to form a neighborhood watch, and because this thief could be armed and dangerous they buy guns. (They have hunting rifles so it's clear they're already registered) First patrol comes and they catch the thief, I would use this as an opportunity to write one of the minor characters out of the show, my preference being Herbert but that's only because I personally don't like Herbert the Pervert. This proves to them that the watch committee is a great idea so they keep doing it, cut to a few weeks later and they're still doing it, we can have a cutaway gag of other people they caught, and this is when the incident happens. Peter goes out on patrol and spots someone trying to break into Cleveland's house it is completely dark, the guy has a hoodie on, his face is covered in shadows, and his arm moves in a way like he was reaching in his pocket for a weapon, Peter shoots and it's Cleveland JR. Cleveland comes over pissed as all get out as Peter asks for why Cleveland JR was breaking into his own house and he explains that he forgot his house key and couldn't find the spare Cleveland has and he was trying the window so he could get in. The reason why the house is locked is because of the Neighborhood Watch, Cleveland is trying to keep his family safe. We cut to the hospital, Peter goes and explains himself and apologizes profusely, but Cleveland is PISSED, and accuses Peter of being racist because he's not thinking straight and because Donna and the rest of his family aside from JR doesn't know Peter all that well, they agree and try to get Peter arrested, but Joe says it was an accident so he's free to go. Peter tries everything he can to make things up to Cleveland, which all end in failure, until he tries the shot glass thing and accidentally sets Cleveland's house of fire, people gather hearing only the tail end of things and this gets him in trouble, Joe arrests Peter and is now on Cleveland's side who is obviously MORE pissed is declaring the house fire as a hate crime and not an accident like it clearly was. Peter gets confronted by Carter who gets him a good lawyer who makes Cleveland and his family out to be so angry at Peter they would burn their own house down to sue Peter and drain him dry, which obviously isn't true. What sinches it, is Cleveland still being furious at Peter yelling at him, saying he'll never forgive Peter for all that he's done, calls him a racist, and all the anger gets the crowd to turn and Peter to get off. There's the angry mob showing up on the Browns' home and it gets really heated until Peter comes in and accepts responsibility, he does explain that both were accidents, he was only trying to protect his friend and make things up to his friend but they all just went horribly wrong and that he shouldn't have been let off and basically the angry mob not caring about the context and calls Peter racist and are prepared to just beat him up when Cleveland sees this he sees that's what he was doing and steps in for Peter, saying he shot his son by accident and the house fire was caused by some black guy throwing a cocktail in mad about being arrested because of the Watch. This gets the crowd to leave and Cleveland apologizes to Peter for his rage and forgives Peter as Peter and him go to fix Cleveland's house. Along the way, Peter runs into Cleveland JR, and apologizes again getting that funny "I'm coming for you" from JR, but he was just joking and Peter goes inside...episode ends. (I hope this worked out)

I feel like this episode could have been a 2-parter. Given how long it took to get to the main conflict of the story in the first place, and then how crappy and rushed the ending was.
This is by far one of the worst five episodes of Family Guy because of the formulaic and ham-fisted way every attempt Peter makes at fixing the situation goes horridly awry, which in itself wouldn't be so bad if you couldn't see all these faceplants coming a mile away. Everything wrong with Modern Family Guy was on display in this episode.

The bottom line and all this mess is the family Guy writers have zero ability to write minorities properly. And they especially don't have the incentive too do so.
And the result was not so great episode. Which is why, there should have been more black people in the writers room as well as black people ask consultants so, there could have been some nuance.
But it didn't happen. In this episode just demonstrates that so much.

Till the end when he does something and gives a sincere apology. Idk if people will agree with me on that or not

This Episode is an Example why Episodes with Preachy Clunky Ill-Thought-Out Messages and Execution [like TV Shows from The Wire for Example] by Throwing the Characters under the Bus with Nonsensical Plots doesn't work out, and the Pisses me off ever Since Seth MacFarlane stepped down from the Creative Process and only Provided the Voice Roles, I Think there is a Correlation Between him stepping down from the Creative Process and the Derailment of the Show and the Characters by the new Showrunners who become Increasingly Incompetent because of Corporate Mandates and Corporate Meddling While the Show Struggles to stay Relevant in the coming Years.
And Honestly *Kitty Monk;* you do have Great Ideas, I Wish that you become a Writer in your Lifetime because you've got the Ideas in Mind to Help Create Good Episodes of TV Shows unlike those Incompetent Greedy Short-Sighted Corporate Capitalist Executives making Shit Shows they only put that there for Ratings, The Profit Motive and Capital Accumulation without giving a Shit or Considering Creativity and Thought-Provoking Stories Created by Producers and other People who Actually put in the Work unlike those Corporate Capitalist Leeches who have Complete Control of the Creative Production While Exploiting their Labour Value Via Extraction of Surplus Value.

I think the episode would have been better if it talked about both sides being wrong and not just one side being wrong, like it was wrong for Peter to shot cleveland junior but How it was also cleveland’s fault for the situation happening by making junior go through the window when it was dark outside.
Cleveland would be wrong, yes. But, compared to the other side? Peter was wrong for organizing a watch that needed actual approval and competent people, which only consisted of two idiots, an offender, and the only competent member being a literal Police officer. That police officer, Joe, was also wrong for allowing Peter to literally walk in his face with multiple firearms after telling him the info on how to get said guns the legal way. The only thing they could do is just call Cleveland out on his little household…rule?
