I was raised in south part of Mississippi in a small town that has old buildings still on main street. I live in Edgemoor in chester county which is next door to York county. We rarely go to city of York. Watching your videos walking the streets makes me want to do same thing. Its good to make videos like this of old towns to preserve the memories for others in case they tear it down one day. There is a old building next to a grave yard in Edgemoor I was told use to be a school. I took pictures of it when it was in bad condition and now they tore it down.

Love history. That's exactly why I do it. Definitely persevering the past is important. Charlotte, where we live, has removed so much of its past. Very sad.

If you go through the streets off of Main Street the homes are amazing

I'm glad York pulled itself out of the mud. Back in the 80's the town was sad indeed. I use to live between Chester and York and wouldn't dream of shopping in York opting for Rock Hill instead. I need to take a ride over that way to visit my grandparents in the Rock Hill Veterans Cemetery. I have a lot of family history around Newport. The bricked in square on the building is where the coal chute was located.

Fantastic little place love it . I've only ever been to York here in the UK which started like 71ad . Alot of the old houses here have those braces here to . We rarely have earthquakes here . Did they have the window tax back in the old days there . They did here and alot was bricked up .

They did have the tax here too. The more windows that faced the road the more tax you'd have to pay. So if you go to Charleston the houses are built sideways. 🙂

Thank you for sharing such a beautiful location. You explained everything so nicely. I enjoy learning about historic areas. Love the victorian style buildings. I love that I saw the real Main Street! We certainly remembered Main Street in Disney World. Excellent share. Like#5 Have a wonderful weekend.💖💖

That Yorkville Marketplace was originally a Winn-Dixie, and that brick wall in front of it was damaged by a tornado back in 1974.
