Keep in mind that the NHL did everything in their power to prevent John Scott from even being at the All Star game at all. Yet we still support the teams and players that make the boys club money
And the best part was he won the MVP

The league's reaction to the John Scott selection was an embarrassment. Let the fans have their fun at the event that supposed to be for the fans.
I believe several years prior to that, the fans tried to get a defensemen in the all star game….

I feel bad for John Scott tbh... cause they prevented him from going in the all star team even tho he was already picked before he was send down...
The Sean Avery rule doesn't prevent players from standing in front of the goaltender or blocking their view. You just have to be facing the play.
I really hope the NHL makes a new rule that makes all new players have to wear neck protection.
I still say if the league really wanted to cut down on goalies playing the puck they'd make them fair game outside the crease. I don't so much buy into the greatness of a player playing the puck when you're not allowed to touch them.
im not entirely against the concept, but as a goalie i also have to point out that our gear is intended to protect in a very different way than a players equipment, the mask for example does a great job absorbing the impact of a puck but has almost no padding to absorb the amount of energy involved in a hit from another player, i've had my bell rung more than a few times just from being knocked to the ice when a player looses control and collides with me, and was lucky to avoid serious injury when a player came straight down on my head, in that particular case a players helmet would have saved me a LOT of pain in the following days

You missed the Wayne Gretzky rule! In 1985, the NHL Board of Governors changed the rules for coincidental minor penalties and allowed teams to play 5-on-5 instead of 4-on-4, feeling the Oilers had an unfair advantage in those situations. Thankfully, the rule was rescinded in 1992.

One rule that someone caused a change was goaltender Clint Benedict. The rule was goaltenders could not fall or sprawl to the ice to keep the puck out of the net. But the NHL was formed and the rules were changed to allow goaltenders to do so.

As a former goaltender who took great pride in my puck handling skills I have to say the trapezoid is absolutely idiotic. It has taken most of the athleticism out of goaltending.

I don't think anyone felt sorry for Claude Lemieux when Razor was feeding him shirtless knuckle sandwiches in Buffalo! That being said I did see a few interviews with Claude after he retired and he seems like a decent dude off the ice.... Razor was fun to watch but he didn't do so well with Twisterelli in that scrap in St. Louis....

I dont like the Sabres but the '99 Stanley cup gm 6 finals they got screwed by the refs not enforcing the stake in the crease rules but its not a surprise by the nhl the always blurred the rules of the nhl !!!
