    1. Under Starmer, Labour has repeatedly made socialist aligned pledges and then u-turned. Call me a cynic but I think they’ve made this pledge for votes and will walk back on it as soon as they win. As if the party that is openly talking about privatising the NHS is going to prioritise nationalising railways.
    2. They won’t get my vote unless they do a complete 180 on Israel’s war on Palestine. Declare them an apartheid and terrorist state, stop arms sales and fully back Palestinian liberation.

I misunderstood rolling stock, so thanks for clearing that up.
So, the actual rails are nationalised. The rail companies are private companies that hire staff to work on the trains, these companies rent trains and carriages from another private company, and use an entirely different private company to perform maintenance on the rolling stock. And all three types of those companies will be financially required to earn a profit.
Gee, i wonder why our fares are so high.

When you're pushing for a significant governmental change and you have been the govt for a long time, it's catch 22.
When everything is going well, people will ask why they need independence, when everything is going badly they'll ask why they should trust the SNP to deliver successful independence.
I understand it's hard for a political group, and I'm nobody with no special expertise in this, but their stance should be: elect us and we do an independence referendum, if it fails, we'll resign from leading the govt and push for reelection next time, while pushing for independence in the meantime.

Humza fucked up wi the greens, if he waited it was likely they would have left of their own volition since he had to keep back peddeling on green energy policy (the oil industry is massive here and sadly you cant close it overnight). Then he could have painted them as 'irresponsible' and the usual bs and been in a much stronger place with his own msps (im not saying thats good in general just good for him). As it is tho now the left of his party hate him for ending the deal, the right already wanted his head and the only other pro-independance party has gone and joined the unionists to stab him. Hes up shit creek without a paddel and he doesnt have the clout to get out of it.
Will be interested to see how this goes for the Westminster election. Labour are still unpopular in Scotland since they openly side with the tories and are seen as a branch office to the UK party. The tories wont win anymore than the 6 seats they have (and theyll likely loose some of them) and now the snp seem determined to loose as much ground as possible. The lib dems also exist i guess. Interesting shit all around.

If the Greens left the Tories would have used that to have a vote of no confidence. Humza just can't win no matter what he does. He is my MSP and I will be voting for him. I know all the SNP representatives in my area and they are definately in the left wing of the SNP.

46:14 I wouldnt be surprised if people in England don't know what devolution is but in all the other UK nations people are very familiar with the term; big part of our national politics for 25 years.

@@nikmak Yes, I agree. I was surprised when the Greens threw their hats in with the SNP. Just like the Liberal Democrats jumping in bed with the Tories. They have never regained credibility in my mind. It appears to take the most meagre sniff of a hint of power for people to sell their souls even at the expense of credibility.

Little thing: Alba is pronounced "Al-Ba". I know you're English but come on. Takes you one google search to fix that.
