I appreciate the info! I'm a DOD civilian at the tail end of the PCS process, and I'll be there in a few weeks. I was stationed in Jinhae back in 2013 (US Navy), but I know a lot's changed since then.
Great video, I was a MP in 1981-84 did first part of it in NY then received order for overseas was suppose to go to Korea but then ended up having my orders amended for Germany. Couldn't imagine what S. Korea would have been like in late 1982. Kee4p up the great work like seeing the MP"S interact with Civilian Police and foot patrol of town.
I just want to thank you for making this video! It was so informative and really helped me and my husband know what we might be getting into 😅 You covered the main things I was worried/curious about, so again, thank you!
I left korea almost a year ago, and I miss it. I hope you're excited about this tour of duty, korea is awesome and kid friendly. if you really want good korean food check out the KSB on post and if you go to humphreys there is a really good korean ice cream store right out the base. I did videos about these places.
Any personal tips I leave this weekend. Will be my first duty station as well I’m really nervous for this flight though. Idk how I feel about flying over the ocean 😂
Hello how has life been in Korea,I'm finishing Ait soon ,will be coming over there for my first duty station..what advice can you give ..will appreciate
Thank you so much for sharing! I am on orders to PCS with my family next month, and we sent alllllll of our toys with household goods, thank goodness! I’m excited but also nervous to go because I just picked up 5, and I am just praying I get good soldiers who don’t get in a lot of trouble. :)
Very helpful video. My family will be there in two weeks. Which hotel do you recommend for a family of 6? I have reservation for only 9 days for on post lodging. That is the only available at this time. Do you know the TLA rate as far as family of 6?
Toys ARE expensive here. When I was young, some stuffed animals and a handful of LEGOs were all I had. Consequently, I quickly turned to PC gaming at a young age.
Not like the old days apparently. Back then, at least outside of Osan in the various shops, bars and other businesses; they were only too happy to take U.S. Dollars. In this day and age, who uses money? Trust me, Korea is much, much more First World than when I was there in the late 1980's. I take it no houseboys to do the chores, even then the lowest ranking enlisted personnel in their dorms had houseboys and it was mandatory. In many ways, South Korea now has better living standards than what many young people in the military experience growing up here.
Yes you can go outside without passport they remove the quarantine we just get here this lastweek, you can get your cell on main exchange if your phone is unlocked from us you can use that here make sure you get the unlimited one year contract it’s cheaper.

I’m going to camp Humphreys in 2 weeks. I can’t start the command sponsorship process until I get there I hope it gets approved so I can bring my wife and kid. Do you know what the availability is like for on post housing at the family towers?
@@HalfRightFaceProductions I’m going to Korea straight from ait. My drill sergeants here told me I have to report to Korea first then apply for command sponsorship program. I leave in 2 days

Trying to figure things out on the family side of things. I’m an AF guy going to osan, but I’m sure Korea stuff is the same across all the services on pen.
I guess shit changed since 06. I would go to dunkin donuts and they would take USD, as well as street food places and the local boot leg store.
We’re pcsing to camp humphreys this year! This was so helpful! Thank you for posting

Maybe you can give me some pointers since I am DoD looking for a IT job in South Korea that would help me out somewhat.
4 Tour's to Korea and love it. Have fun!

Back when I was an E-6 family was not allowed. I did 4 tours in Korea alone
This is great information and the t shirts is from 94th MP Battalion and 0142D MP CO
I was there in 71-73 we had MPC no U.S. green backs at all. I can't get over how much things have changed
Agree a lot😂

Fruits and beef are expensive in Korea. With the recent free trade agreement between Korea and the Philippines may lower fruit prices, hopefully.

What is command sponsorship and how does it work?
Can you drive outside base with US driver license? And do you get extra pay for station in Korea?
Service members need to get a USFK drivers license. Extra pay? Yes. Married soldiers do get COLA 300$. And hazard duty pay. I think it was 150

So what about the designer knock off? Bags? How expensive are the "fake" purses lol.
There still expensive and NOT worth it. I'm wife bought a Micheal Kors bag and it fell apart.
