There is currently a poll on my community page where you can choose what game you'd like to see next, both for a Let's Play and something closer to this style of video
Rather watch anything in a higher res then watching in 720p my guy
@@bigbobrossa8524 The resolution isnt everything man, he has some great commentary and his video's are very well edited.
Heads up you could’ve played as a troll I played this game years ago they are balled up in the corner on the maps usually look almost like rocks balled up
You're a legend! Thanks for making this video. I can't help but love this game. Pure jank? Yes, but filled to the brim with good times!
Being a kid who's whole childhood was LOTR and Star wars, I absolutely loved this game.
Your so lucky bc when I finally owned my own Xbox, I got the game just 2 weeks before it’s servers shut down 😭
This game was so much fun and the horribly balanced heroes somehow made it more fun for me.
Glad I'm not the only one who had got to expirence the same thing sad that in some ways we didn't get another one it was such an fun expirence.
This one and battlefront 2 on the PS2 were my jam.
I had such a blast when this came out. I loved the battlefront games and this was so great. The Sauron campaign was so awesome, especially the final level when you get to just go to town on all the hobbits… until an Eagle slayed me and ruined my fun 😂
Ah yes, the defining moment where mook rogue number 5462 shanked Sauron to death, such a classic scene...
I remember reading that in the Return of the King. Brought tears to my eye
Hahahahahahaha
I desperatly want a remake of this game. Technology now would allow for this game to be amazing.
look up conquest remastered
That might defeat the purpose
@@DISTurbedwaffle918It will kind off. The story will be more accurate to the story from the movie/books. More quests, maps and type of enemies or allies. It will be fun but I am afraid of optimalization. We will see. But it will as good as this is but more.
@@burgr9876 yeah. LOTR conquest wasn't flawless BUT it had potential. Just need more classes (or subclasses). Fix some fighting flaws and add more maps. Easy best LOTR Battlefront.
I would be interested in:
1. A sequel/remake which actually fleshes out the mechanics better and balances the classes.
2. A proper faction system like the battlefront games, so Elves, Dwarves, Rohan, Gondor, Isenguard, Mordor, and Goblins with whatever else they can think of. The Battlefront factions had variety in units and combat abilites, whereas Conquest was just mirrored between good and evil.
3. Bringing in Hobbit locations and perhaps story. Erebor, Mirkwood, Dale, Laketown, Raven Hill, Dol Guldur, Goblin Town, and the Elven Halls all sound like pretty banger maps to fight in.
Honestly, they should've had a special failure condition for the first Rise of Sauron mission where you can lose by knocking Frodo into the fires of Mount Doom. That would've been hilarious, and ironically kind of fitting given how it was destroyed in canon
Ya that would be approriate but that level was already ridiculously hard on the highest difficulty even with two players. I'm not sure i ever even cleared it.
Nothing more hilerious then booting Frodo INTO the fire and WINNING despite the logic to the fact.
@@deatlilies7927 Dude that timed segment in the armory to charge the mask was so strangely hard despite playing a Hero character.
Not gonna lie i got the same delight Slaughtering Hobbits with the Balrog and Sauron. Seeing them get steamrolled by the inevitable was priceless.
The separate animation for scouts backstabbing hobbits was my favorite lmao
@@detroitdave9512 In truth they really didn't have to do that, but i'm glad they did. I'm convince the developers really were like lets make the finale of the evil campaign instead of taking place in Rivendell, it will be at the Shire. An lets make it so over the top that its down right overkill just for Sauron too flex on a bunch of pint-size Hobbits.
The evil campaign is weirdly cathartic lol I remember unlocking Sauron and an eagle flew down, grabbed me and took me off the map or when one flew into me as the Balrog and killed me. Eagles were OP
I've been a fan of LOTR since I was a little kid and without fail playing as the bad guys is always the best part of these things.
First mission as a Nazgûl I threw an ax and hit Frodo into mount doom winning the mission.
I feel like it's an unspoken rule the first time on that mission to complete it that way entirely unintentionally.
Eagles and flying fellbeasts are indeed op dowsnt matter if your a hero
Yessss. Those damn eagles. But the evil campaign was so fun lol. Absolutely wrecking everyone with every bad guy. They should’ve done that in Star Wars battlefront games.
The rise of Sauron part it's just "Lord of the Rings Warcrimes Edition"😂😂😂
It's not a warcrime the first time and if you win!
As a veteran of this game I thank you for your review
I absolutely loved the impact of all the hits, and how weighty and satisfying all the animations are.
It's a shame the game ended up being so limited, it could've easily been one of the best LOTR games of all time.
1:59:54 Sauron's live reaction to Frodo dropping the ring into Mount Doom
I loved this game way back when it released. I never knew it had gotten bad press because it was such a joy to play.
I would also add, it was meant to be played online. The campaign and all that is extra. Online was tough.
That assassin kill on Sauron, I can't 😂
I loved this game. I played it for the first time on my neighbors PS3 and after years I saw it for sale at a gamestop used for Xbox. Bought it on the spot and still play it to this day. I even have it hardcopy for pc now too
The biggest cheat code in this game- so over powered- Archer-> zoom in-> head shots. The fire ones one shot almost anything, two regular shots kill the warriors, etc
I love the shouting John Cleese narrator straight out of Monty Python and the Holy Grail 😂
The premise for this game so strong that it pulls through the often broken gameplay into a worthwhile experience. I can think of no other game that accomplishes this.
As a Tolkien nerd myself I really appreciated your commentary, in fact it was the only reason I didn't click off of the video the moment the mage role was unlocked.
It's really refreshing to hear someone that not only knows the lore but also understands what the story represents and is really all about.
Overall, it was quite a painful when it came to the lore, but you positive attitude and puns made it actually enjoyable to watch. I'll definitely be checking out more on your channel
I'm sorry but complaining about the lore-accuracy of an arcade-style multiplayer video game is ridiculous. It's a video game, it doesn't need to be lore accurate, it just needs to be fun.
Uhmm..... Gandalf and Saruman both wizards/mage xD
I know, and I don't have much of a problem with that. It that there are elves, men and frick'n orc mages shooting fireballs and chain lighting.
I said "much" because tell me of a time in Tolkien’s works when a Maia shoots a performs any of the spells available.
I think it just bugs me when franchises use well known titles (like Lord of the Rings) purely to draw attention and for sales, but couldn't care less about actually fitting it with the source. I think this would be a great game just as generic fantasy, but they made it LoTR themed so that "you can play as Aragon."@@koreancowboy42
I have this game to thank for getting me into healing, replayed it in 2016, and I've been a healer/support class in every game I've played since.
Honestly the two issues I have with this game, is the hitstun and the insta-kills. You literally can’t do anything if the AI decides to gank you with a hero and several warriors, ping-ponging you between themselves until you die. And the idea that you can just get randomly killed instantly by some troll who picked scout doesn’t sit right with me. The fact you can get insta-killed in a “vehical” is dumb too, I get that they had to balance trolls and ents somehow, but insta-kills should never be considered when it comes to balancing units. Other than those complaints, I enjoyed playing this game and I seriously wish that I could get the means to play it again.
The stun lock the AI can inflict on you is depressing. The warrior is a powerful class, but you almost have to be immaculate with your timing and combos to prevent getting stun locked. If they get just two successive hits on you and now you're screwed. That's why archer and mage are the only consistently fun classes to play, cuz you aren't required to be in the midst of all that
Yeah scout instakill is crazy. Even Sauron can be backstabbed. I used to play this game with my buddies all the time and whenever I got the hero my roomie would go scout until he backstabbed me. But yeah, once you get stunlocked by a combo, all you can do is pray. Even if you dive into a crowd with all your meter, there’s no guarantee you’ll live. In my opinion, the scout has an even nastier combo game than the warrior, which most people miss out on cuz they use the meter for the invis/backstab combo.
@@MostlyReformed nevermind the fact that Scouts and Warriors seem to be what the AI spawns as 90% of the time, making melee combat extremely annoying to engage with. If they wanted to make this game perfect they really should’ve refined the melee a bit. Looking back, melee combat always seemed to be bad in these kinds of games, here the problems are just more pronounced since melee combat is the focus.
My brother backstabbed me many a time in split screen 😢
Don't get me started on the insta kills.
Character: Sauron
Location: the shire
Insta kill: I walked across the bridge and an Eagle grabbed me
Played dozens of hours of this on the 360. The evil campaign is utterly depraved. You start out feeling awful, and by the end you're a bloodthirsty maniac. Also, you can zoom in as the archer to get headshots. Great video.
This game live rent free in my head. My parents got this game for my 13th birthday. It is probably to me one of the most bizarre games I've ever played. But I love it. I thought of it recently, just getting all the boys together for a Conquest LAN party.
Also hilarious use of Everlong
My brother and I absolutely loved this game as kids, I still play it every so often. Really under-appreciated game
The most adult meal is definitely root-beer and chocolate milk
My favorite memory of this game was destroying the shire as a balrog. 😅
I think I still have my copy of this, and I might need to play it again.
I fucking love this game, especially the Evil campaign! The first time this game told me to burn down the Shire as the Balrog, was such a magical moment.
Shadow Wizard Money Gang, I too love casting spells
that sauron assassination was incredible!
I think that actually on the books Rohan does send troops to hunt down Saruman on his own turf after Helm's Deep, but they get there after the battle is over. There is a sweet reunion between Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli and Gandalf with Merry and Pippin, since the latter two literally go "yo, we raided the storage. Want a bite?"
this game was literally the reason i managed to get my parents to buy the PlayStation 3...as in me, my sister and my dad only played star wars battlefront together due to how different our favorite activities were, so when we found out about this one from a friend of mine, i convinced my friend to convince his dad to invite us both over, just we could play this game in front of them and use that to convince my dad... it was successful and i felt very proud of myself for managing it because my dad managed to help break mom's one videogame per 6months per child rule just so we could all play this together. damn being 12 was great.
That's awesome
I've played the OG Battlefronts and Conquest extensively. This was a nice trip down fun memory lane.
I preordered this game before it came out, and I played it for like 300 hours. I knew it wasn't good, but it was LOTR/Battlefront and that was enough
between your uncanny obama drone strike impression and the berserk reference this is probably my favorite video of yours I have seen yet; although I just found your channel last night c;
Subbed btwm I am down to see more of ya!
I used to play Lord of the Rings conquest ALL THE TIME. I LOVED that game.
I always thought this game was awesome. I never considered that it might not be that popular. Pulling all nighters while playing this game with my friends are some of my best memories.
man I'm so happy to see somebody covering this, sank years of my life into it as a kid
The scout sneaking on Sauron back makes my jaws drop haha
I remember several years before this game came out sitting in the car at my local Walmart parking lot dreaming this game up. Then it happened. Oh man it was great!
used to replay this game and Battle for Middle Earth so much when I was a kid
holy crap i rented this game as a kid and i loved the hell out of it, i almost forgot it existed.
I loved this game, such an underrated gem. So sad the server were offline so fast. Never got the chance to platinum it on PS3. :(
Locking achievements behind online multiplayer is a really dumb idea.
@@seva809 Yeah it truly is... And im sure developers can give trophies. I remeber everyone got a really hard MP trophie in Call of Duty Black Ops 4 for free.
If servers go offline players should get the online trophies imo
That was incredibly entertaining. What a bananas game. I almost love the flagrant and utter disdain for lore accuracy bc that allows us to have a MF’IN BALROG completely wrecking hobbits in Hobbiton. Delightful. I subscribed to your channel based off this video.
I bought this game with my own money at Gamestop as like a 5th grader, blew my mind that none of my other gamer friends had even heard of it later in life
I loved playing LOTR Conquest for the Xbox 360 growing up
I still play this game all the time. Mage class is so OP that I haven't even configured my pc controller key bindings for any of the other classes.
Having played it back in the day when there was still online matches: agreed, servers were filled with mages
01:15:41 Seeing the Mouth of Sauron push a fucking battering ram with a random ass orc was way too funny for me. This game is an absolute fever dream.
Archer is the strongest class actually. In high difficulty, it completely obliterates other classes. Zoom-in lets you headshot (headshot fire arrow oneshot anyone). So archers are like snipers in other games.
Nah it’s the mage.
You correctly used "Roundhouse" to describe a kick. That earns you a subscribe in my book. Well that and the fact that i haven't laughed nearly as hard at anything as i did at that Sauron kill in the tutorial for a looong time. Great video.
I spent many hours on the multiplayer demo/beta for this game on the 360.
Great fun.
Damn just remembered how fun this game was and still is.
Thanks for reviewing this, my late brother used to play this all the time and stopped playing after getting stumped at the siege of minas tirith, I always wanted to get into the game since at the time I was playing the rts tie-in on the 360. Miss those days,
I have to say, when you were impressed by how many orcs you can fight at the same time in the begining of the video, it made me realise, that you must have never played the "Mount & blade Warband." or any of their games for that matter. I do hope you will check them out someday, I had blast in Lotr mode for Warband, something this game could never do properly.
this game was my childhood, sad that i didn’t know it didn’t do well i would’ve had the cd for longer
It would be absolutely amazing if you covered LOTR: The Third Age. That game was my childhood and I still return to it every now and then. The voice acting switches between convincingly okay and hilariously bad on a whim, and the encounters aren't balanced at all.
But its a really good time regardless. Great video man.
I like The Lord of the Rings: Conquest
This game absolutely slapped when I was a kid -- so glad that somebody else remembered it & that it wasn't actually shit
This game is one that I would love to see redone, if nothing else just to tighten up the controls and up the graphics. Going through the movies (granted with some big artistic freedoms on why) and being in a huge crowds of armies clashing against each other was the equivalent of the classic God of War trilogy, a great time to just shut your brain off and just duke it out with everything. Plus the heroes all being unique with their own moves and some with hugely different ability variations was awesome. And of course, the evil campaign being the biggest "I really shouldn't enjoy doing this, this is horrible to imagine, HOWEVER-" cathartic run through of what-if scenarios, definitely agreeing with the comparison of the Force Unleashed evil DLCs (arguably my most favorite game of all time with excessive hours poured in).
One thing I also loved about this game is that the AI heroes will chase you to the ends of the earth and back so you can lead them anywhere, either for the easiest kill ever or for a cinematic finish, like with Evil Osgiliath you can lure Faramir outside his fort and have the Victory panning screen be the Mouth standing over Faramir, or killing Gimli as the Balrig on the Bridge of Khazad-Dum, or have Sauron silhouetted against the setting sun in Rivendell after killing Elrond chasing you across the entire map. Not to mention Sauron's heavy special move being called Soul Collector with a unique kill animation blasting enemies back and you see their soul hanging in the air as their body falls to the ground. It's so excessive and over-the-top, it fits Sauron perfectly.
Nah man, this game was incredible. I replayed it over and over again when I was younger. My friend and I would play co-op over and over. It's so good. Battlefront 2 is also legendary. I have so many hours into it. Both are legendary games in my heart
This was fun to watch! I watched it in one setting!
Thanks for the vid! :D
I loved this game. So many hours played
Oh wow I forgot this game existed until I saw this video. I remember having a good time with it.
This brought back such good memories, used to play this co-op with my brother.. such a fun game!
That frigging Gone-Door pun. Take my like and subscribition you magnificiant bastard.
Conquest was by far the best game I’ve ever played
If this is anything like the battlefront retrospective, that means 2024 begins when this video is released👍🏼
Sadly no, this is just a supercut of when I played through the game. I am however in the middle of writing another Retrospective for Republic Commando
All the issues aside, I had an absolute blast playing co-op on this as a kid
I absolutely love this game, huge part of my life playing this
I remember this game fondly as a kid. Man, I need to see if I can find a copy at a gaming hobby store.
Good nostalgia trip watching you play through this. I love how your attitude went from “this game is broken, I hate it” to “this is the best LOTR game ever!!”
Also, gutted you never worked out how to ride trolls/ents.. that was probably my favourite thing as a kid.
I only had the demo... but I was in love with it
This game was a blast.
*Genuinely, thank you for saying gosh* this was awesome!
War for Cybertron, or even better - Fall of Cybertron are at least A-tier action shooters, and S-tier in terms of spectacle
I loved this game in my young teens. I bought it recently again but I never got around to playing. You have inspired me to launch it up
Man I still have my original CD of this game. I remember playing it a ton back in the day when I was younger. I've even still got my original playstation 2 and the CD for battle front 2. Good times.
I loved this game I'm not even gonna lie. Lord of the rings in a game that feels fun to play you got my dollar. I played this game for many many hours when it first came out, and i would even wake up early before school to play it before walking to the bus stop.
Loved the Video.
Okay but this slapped
First time finding your channel and I figured I would toss out my recommendation of Defender from 2002. I loved playing that game all night growing up along with Alien VS Predator extinction.
Hey nice Video! And from the games you suggested i would love to see you play shadow of colossus.
I loved this game I was top 3 in conquest on Playstation at one point I couldn't get enough of it
This vid had me howlin, easiest sub of my life after that obama impression
This game was wildly fun. Unbalanced and jank as hell, but once you get the hang of a class, it just flowed
It was flawed but ffs it was flawed in a fun way. Multiplayer was chaotic and good at the same time.
Honestly i enjoyed this game. Yeah i can imagine actual multiplayer would be bad but the story mode was fun and the instant action with all heroes was really stupid fun lol
Edit: Also might just be me, but the PS3 verison seems a LOT easier then the PC version. Like trolls require two of those grabs to kill, and you don't get a quick time event. Also you can't backstab Sauron in PC I am fairly certain, and I once had a glitch in Helms Deep that let me play as Theoden for some reason where he only had the basic fire specials but had the heros stats which was pretty damn weird but fun.
wow, I didn't remember how depressing rise of Sauron was.
I remember playing it some 5 to 10 years ago. I still maintain it is one of the most fun games I had played, ever.
I played the hell out of this game as a kid and I could never remember what it was or what it was called so thank you for making this video
2000’s were peak years for entertainment.
This game was awesome. Super nostalgic
War for Cybertron would be great for either let’s play or the style of this video. Also Fall of Cybertron is really great
I grew up on this game. It was so fun!
Thats an awesome Foo Fighters cover at the beginning!
4 players split screen was so much fun
13:29 was not prepared for the laughter I got from this
I love this game despite its flaws
pretty sure that Aragorn didn't have Anduril the last time I played that mission.
but you've gotta appreciate the power scaling of the series, where we have a ranger turn into a flame-ghost commanding force of nature.
imagine a time skipping Aragorn going back to save more people of The West from Sauron's forces.
Me and my brothers played this game to DEATH! If we still had a 360 and a copy of the game, it wouldn't take much for us to put hours into the game again
I remember being so excited for this game a friend and I waited til like midnight to get it from the gamestop down the street
My friends and I used to play conquest and play every map in the rotation in one sitting. So much fun and chaos. Would love to see a remake
