    I've spend about 2 years being a CNA; one year private in home contract and one in geriatrics. I interview with the local hospital tomorrow for a double position: inpatient care and surgical services. Plus I start nursing school in the fall. Super excited to take this step! ☺

    When will nurses start fighting for their CNA's for a livable wage and bonuses? We are always hearing how Instrumental we are to the care team but always get the lowest raises and workload increased when people quit or call in sick.

      They’re both similar/valuable roles so I guess it’s just a matter of personal preference. I would imagine/expect that the OT assistant role would be less varied that the HA role but again some people would prefer the variety whereas others would like it less. At the end of the day... it’s good to have a choice!

    Is this equivalent to an Enrolled Nurse or an Assistant In Nursing in Australia?

    • @ufightback
      @ufightback  Před 7 lety

      No the role of a Health Care Assistant (HCA) or the Maternity equivalent (MCA) is to assist the nurse or midwife and to help with patient care at a basic level. In the UK it is considered as a good 'starting role for people who may want to develop in to a nursing role (there is also a higher Materity Support Worker (MSW) role which many use to gain experience and training before applying to train as a midwife.

      Hi Johnny They're basically the same thing but we tend to have 'different' names for them depending on where and who they work with (for example we don't call them healthcare assistants (HCA's) where I work (Obstetric) - they are called Maternity Care Assistants (MCA's) but they still perform very similar tasks. Hope this helps!

      Not seen as you describe it, the person is seen as the center and then any care proedures are carried out to help the person recover to full health.
      Well, that is how I saw it, constantly recalling textbook knowledge to do the job.
      Doctors/surgeons all come across the same body discharges, etc, but the medic/paramedic jobs involve so much learning, the isolated way you describe it, those thoughts do not arise.
      For example, urine, wee and fecal, poop sample have to collected, observed and then the lab technicians process the same for report...to support diagonsis and treatment.
