I did a ar5 swap on my ls400 and I daily it for 3 yrs. Its stock. I love it.
Hell yeah 😎
Great video, can't wait to see the numbers update of before and after
Hearing those numbers makes me feel a bit better about the ~$4000 I spent going the LS route.
I still have a few little things that I want to do differently down the line a little bit but that's where I am to get to the point of being driveable.
Great wrap up! Enjoyed the UZ swap series. I will go the NA-T route on my IS300 though.
thank you!
Time to change the name from poor man mods to relatively well to do man mods. Lol
Hahahah middle class mods 🤣🤣
I'm with you. Swaps like this make more sense for daily drivers. I threw a 1MZ in my Celica and it's so much fun. The 3S-GTE was an option for me but it was overkill for my needs, and the 1MZ was cheaper.
Interesting swap how expensive was that?
@@JDMHaze Right around $3k. ~$600 engine, ~$500 combining engine harnesses, ~$200 custom axle carrier, and ~$1500 in exhaust, clutch, flywheel, fluids, gaskets, etc.
This was with my 97 GT with a manual trans. Cost will obviously go up depending on how much work you do yourself and if you're starting with an auto trans. I designed the axle carrier in CAD with a friend and we made that available to the public.
My dream build is using the 1gzfe
When I swapped my Cressida to a 1UZ, I made money. Helps having a wrecked donor to sell parts off of.
Awesome!!! 🤑🤑
I've tossed around the idea of this engine for my s13 but the support just isn't there yet. Although I do also think that the support will grow as traditional swap engines like sr, rb, jz engines keep getting rarer and more expensive. The transmission conversion kits are what have kept me from it. Hate to say it but it would be nice for some of the knockoff companies to copy some of the kits out there to make these swaps more affordable.
hey man, i looked at the swap for my s13 until i sold it because a guy was offering me a 1uz for free if i grabbed it. it would be loads of fun but i wished i would have swapped a k24 from a honda into it, 300 dollar motors and you can boost them super easy
Pinku Style good vibes great guy. 2:35
Love Donald Jackson!!
Hey can you do a breakdown on turboing/building the motor next?
I already did a step-by-step rebuild video for this engine but I'm not going to turbocharge it
@@PoorManMods oh sorry i love the build though
@@merc2ss Thank you very much, I appreciate it!
I'm guessing you don't have idle control due to the throttle lock. The idle control is the electronic throttle body and some ecu dont support dbw control. It doesn't have a IACV like a JZ.
I don't have auto control because the ECU that I'm running does not support the type of motor that Toyota uses for throttle control on this engine
I can get a different motor and wire it up but I'm not too worried about it
3UZ cost 1500 but i want to track my car and daily. I'm gonna sell my crappy 3gfe if i can sell it.
Any chance of a video showing how to tune with the spitronics hyspace programs for newbies? 1uz are becoming more and more popular swaps and spitronics is the cheapest options for stand-alone but with hardly any contents out there about the spitronics mercury2 ecu any help would be appreciated.
im working on a video for that
@@PoorManMods thank you that would be really helpful for folks like me that have 0 experience in tuning or even installing the tunning software. Currently I’m swapping a 1uz into a Toyota pickup got the same setup as you I’m using a Xat adapter onto a R150 and spitronic mercury2 ecu I’m currently waiting for my wideband to come in then it’s tunning time.
18:09 Final Cost
Are the gs300 and gs400 automatic transmissions same?
Can I swap a GS 300 transmission into a GS 400 without any adapter plates or wiring?
no you will most likely need a bellhousing. Just buy a gs400 bellhousing and then you can throw that on the transmission
I probably won’t do it, but I have been dreaming of a mk3 Supra with a 3uzfe swap. Kind of like a Japanese Corvette.
doo itt
@@PoorManMods what I need to do is work on my MR2.
Swapping a V8 in is always worth it, regardless of the price.
Edit: what? The W55 is weaker than the W58. Admittedly the MKIII is weaker than the MKIV/SC300 W58, it's still stronger than the W55. I ran a BPU 7MGTE on my 89 MKIII with a W58 and it was fine. I was afraid to add more power to my W55 IS300 because the transmission is trash.
Haha hells yeah
@@PoorManMods as far as I know, the W58 is stronger than the W55. I had both and the 55 felt more fragile
@@RazoE even if the 58 has an aluminum center section and not steel?
@@PoorManMods I believe so. The guy I bought my W55 bell housing for my 2JZGE MKIII Supra had 2 bell housings available because he blew through two W55s on a small turbo IS300. Everyone on My.iS also agreed the transmission sucked and money would be better spent on going R154 or V160
@@RazoE hmmm ok
My plan is if I blow the 58 that'd currently in there, swap the w55 in. In the meantime save/source parts for an r154 swap.
Then take the r154 out of my supra and put it in.
Then for the supra do some kind of 6 speed
Is it possible to make a tuner car quiet? I absolutely hate the noisy bs and ppl say "that's horsepower"
Mufflers?
Well off mans mods* 😂
Middle class man mods 🤣
First
Yessss
@@PoorManMods Donald Jackson is a great guy. Been in Japan for 7 years and never heard a bad thing about him. Love the swap. The JZ prices got extremely our of hand. I bought a 2j quite a few years ago and couldn't bring myself to sell for that price. Just threw it into a car.
