Montserrat is a mountain range about 10 kilometers long and 5 kilometers wide in the province of Barcelona in Spain. Mount Montserrat is a well-known landmark of Catalonia. In the eastern part of the mountain range is the Benedictine monastery. Montserrat is of high cultural and symbolic importance for Catalonia. It was declared a natural park in 1987.
