I have a CHROMONICA 1, M. HONER, Made in the 1920s in Germany. Earliest date on it 1926.Along with 3 other marks.
Marked 1926 GRANDE PRIX PHILAD, 1927 GRANDE PRIX GENEVE,1933 GRANDE PRIX CHIC AND GRANDE PARIS 1937.
YES, there is only one harmonica factory in Korea, but ONLY ONE Honer factory in the whole world!

I've had a few harmonicas (Hoehner). What always puzzled me was that there was a note missing. It skipped the same note. I could do the scale up to a certain point, and a note would not play. Never had an explanation.
The standard “Richter” harmonica is tuned to make nice sounding cords. It eliminates one note and replaces it with a duplicate note on both blow and draw chords. Draw 2 and blow 3 are the same note. It is good for blues.
The “Paddy Richter” tuned harmonica replaces the duplicate note with the missing note and works nicely for melodies with some chords, but it isn’t that good for blues.
