Matthew being confused by the classic animation trope of eyewear behaving like eyes is so cute. They do that so you can still get expressive eyes without actually showing eyes, useful for characters that might never take off their eyewear.

Blitzo makes a lot of things sexual, mainly because that is the _only_ worth he sees in himself. He is confident in his prowess in bed and _nothing else,_ so whenever he wants to be even remotely close to someone, he expresses a wish to sleep with them, because that is the only way he knows how

Blitzø and Moxxie singing together as a homage to the _Phantom of the Opera_ has more magical moments that gives Disney a run of its money.

Btw, the “o” in Blitzo’s name is silent, so his name is actually pronounced “Blitz”. The only people who still call him “Blitzo” are the people who hate him :)
Agent 1 and 2 being left alive was a pretty big discussion points with multiple different theorys, ranging from "Stolas might not be allowed to because he was summoned" to "Stolas might actually be a pacifist, since we have never seen him kill someone"
And everyone else was disarmed by Blitz using the "big gun." Loona probably could have killed them unarmed, but they wernt a threat after Stolas's display- you have to be really psycho to kill someone cowering in terror, and while Blitz or Millie could have, loona isnt part of the assasin team, she's just their secretary.
To be fair in demonology Stolas IS a pacifist, but I do think it has to do with the summon more than anything because summoning is always a form of pact
@@glitzdancer Normally, I would agree but Stolas essentially summoned himself. It would come down to how summonings work in the Helluva Boss universe. Is it done by who intended to summon the demon, aka Stolas himself, or is it done by the body that draws the ring, aka the agents that Stolas possessed?

18:15 no, she’s his (adopted) daughter and from my memory he’s always nice to her. Possibly the only character he’s nice to ALL the time.
Blitzo is extremely desperate for a family of his own. And so he made one. IMP is his family. And he straight up adopted Loona. And he genuinely loves and cares for her as if she were his own blood daughter. She has an extremely traumatic past... horrifyingly so. With both of them deeply messed up you'd think it would fail miserably... but it actually allows them to trust each other a little more as they work through things together. And you see her really coming around later on. She cares about him too. Even if she was almost 18 and about to walk free from foster system, she has someone who actually wants her and who does love her. Everyone in the show is messed up in some way. Even M&M are. Moxxie has his dad to contend with, and Millie has her family history.
The symbol the possessed bodies draw around Agent Two is Stolas' actual summoning circle from the real-life Lesser Key of Solomon. It has in-built safeguards to limit the prince's powers in the material world.
Stolas *can't* harm One and Two. The terms of the summoning don't allow it. That's why Two isn't a limp twitching heap after that sickening neck crack.
And because he doesn't really want to kill them, he's a pacifist.

@@KaterynaM_UA just the fact he hasen't really killed anyone the entire series other than petrifying one imp during the looloo land episode when M&M and blitz were busy and couldn't bodyguard him and octavia. he didn't even need bodyguards if he could do something like that, but he hired I.M.P anyway. (true, probably just to flirt with blitz but thats about the evidence we got for pacifist stolas)
Most badass part of that episode? When Stolas possesses the female agent, reanimates the corpses, then makes them draw a summoning circle so he can enter our plane through her. 😈("WHO DARES THREATEN MY IMPISH PLAYTHINGS???")
And you know it's bad when Millie starts making raccoon noises while trying to break things.
Stolas is this genuinely gentle and caring father, loves his work with astronomy and plants. He's a little goofy even. But god damn you do NOT want to piss him off. He knows exactly how to be completely terrifying. To use the build up, then to possess corpses to draw his own sigil and summon himself? DAMN.
You actually analysed a lot of the video so well especially when they went into blitz’s trauma! Thank god you reacted to this episode instead of the ones with a lot of spoilers, compared to those this episode is actually quite a good place to start, and thanks for the video!!

I would honestly say 2x7 and mayyyybe 2x6 are better, but this episode still holds a _really_ special place in my heart. It's what transformed "Yeah, this show's pretty cool!" to full on frothing at the mouth over it lol

That’s just how the animation style is. If they didn’t animate the glasses the way they did then it would be kind of hard to convey the facial expressions. It just makes the character look more expressive.
Human weapons can kill low ranking demons like Imps, but they would be useless against higher ranked demons like demon royalty. Stolas for example, the bird demon that saved them, cannot be killed by normal means. He can only be killed by angelic weapons.
Also, Loona, the wolf girl is Blitz’s adopted daughter. She rarely calls him dad, but they do care about each other.
While Moxxie was saying his order to annoy the agents, I think he does take his coffee like that. I believe that there were some Instagram posts from the official insta for Moxxie complaining about how a barista wrote "Karen" instead of "Moxxie"

Blitzo told them to close the portal so the humans couldn't look or get into Hell. That would've been SO much worse in multiple ways. It was the right call.
And yeah, after his hallucination it's noticeable that Blitzo stops during the fight several times to try and do something nice for each of the others.
Stolas is known in classical demonology as being unusually pacifistic for a demon, but obviously it was a terrible idea to leave those two alive.
If you still don't want to watch the whole show, the next two episodes after this one are also very good, and the "Mammon's" episode is terrific and works fine standalone. I will not be surprised if it eventually ties or surpasses "Truth Seekers" as the highest rated.
Yeah, closing that portal was 100% the right thing to do. And I love that it shows just how much Loona actually does respect and understand him. She knew he was being serious and immediately did it without question. And then defended his choice to Millie. It goes overlooked a lot but it's a really great detail.

Blitz has a lot of issues, but one thing I always liked about this episode is that Loona appears to be one thing he has no regrets about, as she didn't appear as one of his tormentors during his Truth Bomb-induced trip.
He hates himself to a degree that is shocking (Season 1 Episode 7), but when it comes to his adopted daughter, it's one "good" thing he can grasp on to.
All of the characters in Helluva Boss have flaws...and some are more obvious and damaging than others, but unlike most shows, they actually do more than just point them out. They're part of the plot, and how the characters develop.
...frequently that development stems from their failures to overcome those flaws, but that's also fairly novel in modern media.
Also, Stolas (the owl demon) is one of the Goetic demons, who are part of the ruling class of hell. That's a long way of saying that he has A LOT of power.
Fun fact though...for all of his terrifying display, he didn't kill anyone. Even the agent who he obviously had break her own neck, was healed and fine (physically) in the aftermath.
I have no idea if this is true, but right from my first watch, the laugh of the agent at the end had me thinking that there was something demonic about him as well. The reason why they were spared may be because D.H.O.R.K.S. might exist at the behest of Hell. What better way to determine if someone is breaking the rules by messing around on Earth than an organization supposedly to investigate demonic activity.
No, Stolas is a pacifist, and doesn't like killing. He only used the bodies of the already dead agents and healed agent two after leaving her body. He didn't even need to do that whole thing, it was just to scare the fuck out of the agents and make them back off.
😂😂😂Buddy the whole fandom is wondering what agent one and twos next move is gonna be, we have so many villains and plot points at this point its kinda funny but at the same time it kinda still makes sense to the overall story so we still want you to watch the full series
It seems interesting to witness this episode being the most “Imp”actful and most watched episode from Season 1 as it shows so much detail between Moxxie and Blitz’s character growth or struggles on what they are hiding within themselves. So I hope you check out more Helluva Boss episodes as they get more interesting and entertaining to watch 😄
Also fun fact, Loona (Wolf Girl is actually a Hellhound) is actually the main one who actually summoned Stolas to scare the agents. As there being a moment in the boom that you can read on how to summon a demon. So there are text that you might have to pause and read on it.
Loona didn't summon it she can't read in red light (since dogs can't see red) stolas summoned himself using by possessing the corpses and having them draw the summoning circle, it was a very situational thing

I've watched this episode so many times, and it was only once you pointed it out that I realized Blitz says 'cocksicle joint' instead of 'popsicle joint' like I thought.
Yesssss thank you for watching the full episode. Genuinely love when you react to full episodes, would be thrilled if you checked out more Helluva Boss episodes, it’s worth it! The characters, as vulgar and demonic as they are, you still end up falling in love with them and there’s some really sweet tender moments in the newer episodes!
I thought the implication through the drug trip was that Blitzo and Moxie were talking to each other through their hallucinations. They're getting warped/muddied/confused interpretations of the other like Overly Verbose Princess Moxie and Phantom of the Opera Blitzo.
I'm so happy you're reacting to more helluva boss. Also if you ever plan on doing a out of context reaction soon I'd recommend Big City Greens, it's an underrated show but really funny
whenever he says "Blitzo" I just say "THE O IS SILENT" Its Blitzø. He should really watch the episodes in order to know wtf is going on
PLEASE watch the other episodes!! All the songs, clips, moments, and character's actions will make SO much more sense once you have all the context. There is plenty of world building in all the other episodes that make those things make sense as well.
To also help explain the portal thing at the beginning of the episode.....
They cant let living humans into hell or else they'll get in trouble with higher demons.
The main cast (minus Loona and Stolas) are Imps, and therefore cannot cast magic. So if they did let them into hell....it'd just be problematic. That, and Blitzø was probably trying to protect Loona and Millie
You're not wrong about "eventually everyone goes" being Moxxie's view of why Blitz acts the way he does. Because the reality that you can see start to emerge in Blitz's hallucination (that just becomes more clear in the episode immediately after this one and in season 2) is that Blitz *hates himself.* It's not that he pushes people away because he thinks they'll leave him eventually anyway. He pushes people away because he believes *he doesn't deserve their love and friendship.* But he also desperately wants it. Like everyone, he *needs* love and friendship. Moxxie has a simplistic, very musical theatre-esque understanding of Blitz's behavior, when the reality is more complex and heartbreaking.
Also, the DHORKS sunglasses acting like eyes isn't any different from animated Spiderman's costume eyes doing so; it's expressive while still covering the eyes. :)
As for Stolas not killing Agents One and Two, the summoning sigil they used--and you get to see sigils for all of the most powerful demons in the show--is actually from real life demonology for the summoning of the demon prince Stolas. If it's written and used properly, then once summoned, he can't hurt the summoner. And, technically, Agent Two and the other DHORK corpses are the summoners, lol. Stolas just needed a way into the mortal world without his book and this was the best away that unfortunately didn't allow him to do anything beyond rescue Blitz and the rest of I.M.P.

You are seeing early (and again near the end) one of the big points this show makes; experienced demons have had to live through all the consequences of their many mistakes, and over enough time that becomes a training experience for what to do once you've made a mistake. You will consistently see the immediate reaction to an unexpected disaster be to assess damages and sort out what's too risky to try to salvage and what needs to be saved right away: triage thinking. This doesn't mean they don't do all the impulsive emotional stuff like fly into a rage or break down, but that gets pushed down to when there's time for it. Those demons who can't seem to ever learn how to minimize the results of their actions tend to be antagonists in this show; contrariwise, you'll find demons who are championing equivalents of "safe, sane, and consensual" due to having exhaustively researched the alternatives and knowing precisely how they all end up sucking.
Can we take a moment to appreciate that Mathew makes the best high quality content for us and he always makes our day or night even better

In Blizo’s hallucination He thinks he going to die alone is because his family left him, and more. That’s why the end of episode eight season when he says Luna are you gonna stay with me. He doesn’t want anyone to leave him like his sis/ family(his sister is his only family member). Blizo sister left and pretended he disappeared in episode five season two, because he killed his mom in a fire he caused on accident. Blizo’s dad never cared because he sold blizo away to solis. Blizo got Luna because he wanted to be loved and have a family again. Also in the pilot why bilzo says we are all a family to mils,moxie and Luna is because he wants to have a family again and be loved. He does not love himself in episode six season two he says to fizz that he hates himself, and he does.😢😢❤❤ he has a Sadder back story than you think, he has been though more than you think.
I’d love to see you react to the full ozzie’s, oops! and mammon’s magnificent musical episodes. you’ve already reacted to some of the songs in them but it’d be awesome to see you react to the full episodes, and they all have fizzarolli too! those + loo loo land (I’m counting robofizz as part of the arc) basically make up fizzarolli’s character arc atm.
my favourite of them all is the musical mid season special because it’s a really good fizzarolli episode that I’m sure you’d love. it’s an amazing episode with wonderful songs and amazing character writing. it’ll make you love fizzarolli more than you already do :D oops! is good for fizzarolli and blitzø backstory, and ozzie’s is fizz’s first in person appearance.
I loved this episode when I first watched it, because it was the episode that showed me how similar me and Blitzo are. His life was horrible and so much is going on with him that has never happened to me, however, his insecurities and how he views his situations are so similar to me. Everyone will leave, so why get too close? Why not be rude? I believe that knowing who truly cares about me and who hates me is beneficial to my mental health, so I am rude to everyone to try and make everyone despise me so that I know. It feels better than getting close to people and considering themmy friends and really close, and then they ghost me, it turns out they hate me, and they remind me of all my flaws. Giving up and pushing pain to the side with humour and rudeness taking place for self-defense is amazing! But confronting the truth, it can make people cry, can even make them break. I love Blitzo so so much, because I feel like I could be him... Also the "Are you afraid to love me?" from Stolas in the trip... I tried to forget about my first crush because there was no way he could ever like me, so it's better to distance myself and get over him. With Blitzo's like 5th relationship or smth, he believes that nothing will ever last. Even with Veronika, he gave up on believing anything will laugh for him, that it's all temporary and best to make the most of it while you have it. He pushes himself away, tells himself that he's only used (bodyguard and then a kink for a royal) and that they never could love and cherish him. ... Sorry for this lol

I think Blitz0 and Moxxie were having an actual conversation, calling out each other's insecurities and being forced to honestly respond to those callouts, and the acid trip visuals were how they were processing that conversation while drugged out their asses.
Also, the reason for the portal closing isn't really something you can get without context, sorry. Hell-born demons like imps and hounds can be killed in hell, while human souls are effectively immortal there ((otherwise you can't really force a swarm of bees up a person's dick for eternity)). So it would put the demons in *actual* danger if the humans followed them back in. On top of that, the imps' interdimensional travel is teeeeeechnically illegal and only possible through Stolas (a demon prince) willfully ignoring it -- but actually letting *living* humans into hell would draw the attention of the demon kings. Which nobody wants.

This is handsdown my favorite episode of all time in helluva, and one of the best episodes of any animated show I’ve *ever* seen. It’s worth a lot more with build up, and the past episode knowledges.

I mean, normal drugs and alcohol built for human biology seem to work pretty effectively on hell-borne demons and sinner demon forms, so I think tranquilizers would work as well.

I can't think of another show or film or anything really that is so damn good at dropping absolutely jaw dropping lines on you out of the blue. Combinations of profanity that have never before even begun to think about crossing my mind. That's a truly dark gift. And they put in work on this show because it happens at least once ever 3 or 4 minutes.

YOU SHOULD WATCH hazbin hotel. It's by the same creator and it's the pilot which came out 3years ago before helluva boss, still set in hell. It got picked up by a studio and that's why only the pilot which is outstanding is on CZcams and nothing else. But it's coming out soon eventually so I think you'd enjoy watching the pilot. Also has music which is absolutely spectacular but definitely special and great plot, great characters. Short summary it's about trying to start up a hotel for people who wanna rehab to be better, but like it's hell so that ain't really working out. And the girl trying to start the hotel is the princess of hell. So please check it out and maybe record the episode reaction. Thanks for reacting a lot to helluva boss too :D.

This was a great reaction, I heard in a video else where that the way Stolas, Owl guy, was summoned, from the "Lesser key of Solomon"(I think) Stolas couldnt hurt them(D.H.O.R.K.S.) due to this, but he can scare the fuck out of them. Just wanted to clear things up, as this is my favorite episode.

In the space of a single animated music drug induced hallucination, you completely figured out Blitzo's character. There was a deeply traumatic experience in his past that I'm not going to spoil, and it ended up splitting him and his best friend apart. They haven't spoken to each other in decades. He blames himself for another loss during that same experience. And the two of those things in his mind have convinced him that he doesn't deserve to be with someone. That he is unworthy of a real relationship. And he puts up that wall of constant bravado to cover his pain and self doubt. And just as you said, he self destructs relationships rather than potentially open up only to have them leave and deal with that pain. She usually he runs. He is a deeply flawed and hurting character. It's incredibly impressive writing that just gets deeper the more into the show you go. Especially as the thing he MOST wants in the whole world is a loving family of his own. You see it in this episode as well as all of the rest. Any time someone is in danger, he puts himself in front of them to protect them. EVERY time. He has an incredibly good heart. He cares deeply about his friends.
I’m sure someone’s already said it the tranquilizer would’ve worked cause most besides the old ones like the 7 sins and older beings of the “known” stories of heaven and hell, are human souls that died and then when you go to hell it makes you “demon” by default. The shape your soul takes in either dimension is a reflection. Of your soul in life, your interests, etc, and the same vice versa for heaven.

a virgo is a star sign based on when you are born. other examples of star signs are Leo, Capricorn, scorpio, Aries and many more that I can't think of at the moment. He was trolling them by defining himself by the star sign instead of saying he is an imp.
They are in a room having a conversation about their insecurities, but they are also tripping balls. We see what each of them experience, which is the SAME conversation through two vastly different brains going wild on green gass. So in a way, all of this happened to both of them, but the difference is who they are and how they react to the drug.
