One thing for sure about being a mechanic. Something is always broken. That's a given. No sooner do you fix the tail and the nose falls off. No sooner do you fix the nose and the tail falls off. 😯🤠🧐😕
As a retired A&P I tell people a turbine engine is like your car engine a 4 cycle intake compression combustion exhaust only we don’t use a crankshaft connecting rod and pistons I enlisted in the USAF after Highschool I work as a crew chief on F-4D phantoms & F-16 falcons I got out and lucked out with a job at McDonald Douglas/Boeing I loved working on brand new aircraft you do not get dirty and like you said each day there’s something different it was a great time and I miss it very much enjoy your time and your health
I enjoy everyday to the fullest. Some days are worse than others and some are a piece of cake. You know how it is haha. I worked KC-135s in the Air Force

Awesome video man, I am an apprentice testing out in two weeks. the last three years Ive been working on Beech 99s, 1900c, and 1900d models (I saw a couple on the ramp in the clips ;) ) all cargo i enjoy working on the PT6A engines no time to get the A&P so I can keep learning more!

If you’re AOG specific mechanic it’s a little more like that. For us they are a little easier on us so that way when they need an extra hand they will have volunteers. AOG specific mechanics also pull in over 100k a year

Awesome video man, I’m currently in the coast guard working as a helicopter mechanic. Trying to get my A&P, how was the transition to civilian aircraft maintenance?
The transition was good. A lot of aircraft mechanics are prior military so the commodore can be the same. The way the work is carried out is pretty similar to the military depending where you go. There’s so many different jobs so it’s hard to really say. I didn’t like production work, makes you feel like a robot. I prefer line maintenance
I have a home and most full time traveling mechanics will have a home. Some prefer to have a mobile home to save money. If you are full time travel then you will have a whole week off and then work 2-3 weeks
Dude your lifestyle is pretty much how I want mine to get to (car projects, working as an anp, etc). I'm in healthcare but going to career move and start school in August. Already looking at prepware apps lol

It all depends on where you live and what you want to do. If you want to be a traveling mechanic you can pretty much love wherever but you may not be home a lot. If you don’t want to travel then you need to live in a big airport city.

I did 7 years in the Air Force as a jet engine mechanic and then got my A&P license before I got out. I worked for Boeing for 1.5years and now I moved back home to work for Ameriflight. Ameriflight it’s a pretty good company to work for if you want to work all systems and learn everything about an aircraft instead of just one area like most aircraft mechanic jobs

Figure out what you like doing most in school and find a job doing that. In aircraft maintenance you usually will “specialize” in something (engines, electrical, avionics, interiors, etc..) A&P can do most but a lot of employers will make “teams” to tackle bigger jobs. Make sure you get the right tools for the job. Certain tools will make you’re life so much easier. You don’t have to buy Snap-on.

Haha good eye 👌 at one point I wanted to be an auto mechanic but it’s so much better as just a hobby. Plus there’s some cool stuff in the A&P world

Go and apply for a Flight Attendant position. Better hours, travel with the women, go home clean at the end of the flight.
