I mean, if the price of smart glasses goes down you could easily (well, I couldn't, but someone smarter than me could) program an AR overlay so that both players could see dragons and whatnot appear on your YuGiOh board. You could do it now, but I don't think anyone wants to play a 600$ game of YuGiOh - or at least not enough people to make it worth doing all that programming and animation.

Nerf cars are a little impractical, but how about a Nerf impact device that deploys when the wearer is struck with a heavy blunt force and absorbs the impact?
