I just want to express my appreciation for the amount of work you put into this nice presentation. Somebody should tell the algorithm that this deserves far more views.
    Thanks!

With all due respect: the statement that " the pencil displaces an amount of water that weighs less than the pencil, therefore the pencil floats " is misleading. I can take a cu.ft of lead- 708 lbs. In water it will displace 1 cu.ft . 1 cu.ft of SW (sea water) =64 lbs. far "less" than the 708 lbs yet it will not float. A FLOATING object will displace an amount of water equal to the weight of the object. The pencil has displaced an amount of water weight equal to it's weight. Our cu.ft of SW will give upthrust or positive (buoyancy) to an object up to 64 lbs cu.ft. , at 64 lbs cu.ft exactly, it will neither be positive or negative but is at neutral buoyancy, heavier than 64 lbs cu.ft the object sinks. A boat weighing 16,500 lbs will displace 257.8 cu.ft SW >16,500/64=257.8125 x 64=16,500 lbs. FW (fresh water) =62.4 lbs.cu.ft, in FW the same boat will displace > 16,500/62.4=264.4 cu.ft. displacing slightly more cu.ft riding lower in the water, FW having less density than SW...FW=62.4 lbs cu.ft. A block of wood measuring 1ft.(12 inches) on all 6 sides=equals 1 cu.ft. If it weighs 31.2 lbs it will move out of the way or displace 31.2 lbs of fresh water, floating at a depth with 6 inches draft and 6 inches of wood above water. Thank you for the upload and explanation of why the vessel capsized illustrating the weight distribution with the high center of gravity resulting in a dangerous stability situation.

Great video, clear explanation and kept my interest all the way. House on water, my passion. Many thanks. ❤

I haven't been on a boat, a ship, or a vessel in years and I have no plans to board one in the future. I live nowhere near a body of water so the likelihood of me unexpectantly finding myself abourd a boat is improbable, and my lack of money means boarding a boat any other way is impossible. Still, I enjoyed the information presented and watched the whole video. It's what us old people do when we can't afford a boat.

My dad bought a small center console BOAT ! He notice when he mount his kegs on the left side of the boat ! He had a center gravity on the left side . So he move his center console to the right side and the center of gravity of the boat balance out ! Thinking his problem was solved .....right ? Wrong ..... because since the installations of the kegs ? He been getting a lot of unusual people's wanting to ride on his BOAT now and they keep hanging out on the left side next to the kegs ! Back to square 1 . 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁

Duncan you’re obviously not in engineering. Your nasty little comment doesn’t have your explanation that we can comment on does it?
