    Dont forget, vet guard can actually pick 2 scouting options with equipment. So they can use use 1cp to free dash for their operatives, then recon dash the sniper onto a vantage point with fly, then use the equipment for a 2nd option (fortify, and place the barricade)... so basically, before turn 1, your sniper is already on a vantage point with conceal behind cover...... How? AND I PLAY VET GUARD AND EVEN I AM BAFFLED

    The fortify change is good. We just can't allow VP's within deployment zones with this new scouting option, which is probably already the better way to set up boards. Now, more central VPs will be open, and you'll need to lose your scouting benefit to place a barricade on a VP that is easier for the enemy to use it for themselves. Similar thoughts on Recon. I think the negatives the changes bring is more indicative of poor terrain layout, and I bet once people start making boards with the changes in mind, we'll have a better game.

    On the scouting phase, it would make sense if fortify you place a baracade on vantage for the 1st round and then it gets removed on the 2nd round
    Same as when a player picks dash or change order, he gets it for the 1st round only so i think if choosing fortify would make the player place a baracade for 1 round only (1st round) then the baracde gets removed that would make sense

    Hi quick question, does the current FAQ address your concern about barricades from Fortify being placed on vantage points?
    Q: When setting up additional barricades (e.g. the Fortify option in
    the Scouting step), can they be set up on a terrain feature?
    A: No, unless that terrain feature has the Insignificant trait.
    That's in the current FAQ, and it seems to address your concern?

    I generally consider playing Defender a big disadvantage. Until this change, I was of the opinion that Defender should get an extra CP.
    Layouts in open killteam don't often provide an asymmetric enough board to outweigh being counter deployed.
    While Into the Dark often funnels operative's along a path from deployment, which only makes Attacker counter deployment even stronger.

    • @CanYouRollaCrit
      @CanYouRollaCrit  Před rokem

      Ah that's a shame, I get to play on really good symmetrical boards so being defender isn't much of an issue

  • @ant6227
    @ant6227 Před rokem

    I think it kind of depends on the environment you're playing in how impacting some of these changes are. I personally love the changes to scouting because I'm usually playing with TOs who could frankly use some tips for board layout to the point that one side will have options to deploy on vantage points with cover and the other side won't even have a vantage point. That kind of situation means you're basically losing if you lose the attacker defender roll. In a perfect world with good board placement you're probably right these are going to break things.
    What I'm really not understanding is how this all impacts match play, or just any play in general. Are the original tac ops no longer valid? Are both valid and you pick one or the other. Assumedly this is going to be something determined by the TO but as someone who still finds themselves playing games commonly against opponents that don't even have the original tac ops cards I'm concerned about introducing what is essentially a required core rules supplement. If you have a lot of players in your area, probably no big deal but if you're struggling to find games in your area this is the kind of fracture that could kill the game in your area.

    • @CanYouRollaCrit
      @CanYouRollaCrit  Před rokem

    Not a fan of these changes. The scouting phase changes seem bad, only being able to take one of your faction tac ops reduces flavor (and I don't think the change will speed up the game that much) and splitting up your troops into groups like warbands in Warcry seems mostly pointless. I don't see a reason to use these, personally, though there's still a bunch of missions in the other books and White Dwarf I haven't done yet.
