Briquettes Making Machine of Manual Type Made by FINIC
Turning agricultural waste into energy commodities will not only enhance "Brain to Mouth" initiatives but will decompress forests and save the environment.
Agricultural waste such as corn cobs, cacao pods, coffee hull, rice husk etc should be prominently positioned to replace wood charcoal.
Added to Sierra Leone's huge biomass resources is elephant grass. Sadly, this huge biomass resource is left to wreck occassional havoc by spreading bush fire and annihilation of villages and farms.
There are 2 confronting issues in dealing with the transformation of agricultural waste into energy commodities for the kitchen:
1) Innovative technologies
2) Cost of the technologies
We at FINIC, have been finding ways to combine traditional technologies and appropriate ones to meet the needs of our people.
The working video shown here tells the technology type and its simplicity. The machine is able to manually compress 8 briquettes each of diameter 7 centimeters and 12 centimeters long within 2 minutes. With a well trained staff, the machine can make 120kg per hour. In an 8 hour day operation, 960kg (48 bags each of 20kg) of briquettes would have been produced.
