Thanks for watching! - Věda a technologie
I have watched this video at minimum a dozen times. There's just something about Ryan Nagata's ray guns that I keep coming back to periodically. So beautifully crafted and presented.
I love the contrast between different makers' work-spaces. One the one hand you have Adam with his organised chaos and on the other you have Ryan with his pristine laboratory. The work these guys produce is amazing
The powder blue one I instantly thought Jetsons. Its like it would be the in the Rosie the Robot home defense product line.
aahahaha thats so awsome 😁 although, I googled it and didn't see it lol Love it though. Takes you right back to the Jetsons.
that's what I was about to say lol. new military Rosie the robot defence line!
+foxy the pirate mlg fox YAASSSS
To >>me
I really want to see Adam make something from the Fallout Series. I feel like he would really appreciate that game.
I love ray guns!! I also love classic flying saucers, Maybe Adam could build a saucer sometime.
Righteous Bison.... I see where tf2 got that from
Our lawyers say 'YES! YES!'
no that is the team captain
craptor it was only a joke. Smile lighten up, unclench your sphincter and enjoy life.
+TheDutyPaid i wasn't mad, no reason to say that. I just said that that was the team captain and not the bison
craptor we all know it was not the bison, I never said it was. The comment can still be used in this content, I just tried to make someone smile. I am sorry I upset you so.
I can understand the pain you feel when you see something wrong.
❤
I think I may be the only person on the planet who still has an un-painted Righteous Bison XD
Of the 100 they sold, I got one of the 4 leftovers. I really want to do something with it, but it's kind of precious. I want to wait until I know I can do it really well.
Now I'm a little tempted to send it to Adam to see what he can do with it.
you should totally send it to him
Don't forget to let him send it back!
Sell it to me, damn you!
You are not. :D
Calm down dude.
Thanks Adam for finding Ryan and thanks Ryan for sharing your art. It is truly inspiring. Love your blue one too!!
I love the liberal use of vacuum tubes!
Can you ever have too many? ;)
Me too... but I hope they are damaged and useless. Working tubes are getting harder and harder to find.
thatrandomperson True, and if anybody wants to use them for whatever reason is fine, imo. But there are audio and radio enthusiasts that search the flea markets and estate sales for the old stock, or seek out "new old stock". It would be a shame if some useful vintage tubes were used in these show pieces... my two cents, worth twice that. :)
How do you know these are vintage? Go on ebay son...
Makes me think of X the eliminator from Harvey Birdman Attorney at law. "Do you have any tubes?"
I would love to see a lot more of this and vintage ray gun toy collections!
I love the yellow 4 one!
And I feel the pain about being at the hardware store and just asking for a bracket and get "what is it for" ... then me trying to explain and just getting a blank stare ...
As a nerd who worked in a hardware store, I loved it when people said they were working on some prop or cosplay. If Adam or Ryan had walked into my hardware store I would have been out of my mind.
LOL! What pain? I walk right in and proudly let them know I'm building a Dooms Day device, robot, or whatever! The owner of my hardware store now shows me the obscure plumbing, heating fixtures when I come in.
I love seeing these videos featuring Ryan's work, he has some incredible pieces.
I LOVE ray guns. Always have. I think what makes his cool to me are the vacuum tubes on them. Id love to see his take on a Flash Gordon one.
Where's Porter's X2 Ray Gun? I need to kill zombies....
I'll be killing zombies later, when the kids have gone to bed.
Exactly what I was thinking! (why I watched the video)
I want a zombies ray gun replica soooooo bad
that's exactly what i thought
Poor Little Rich Kid I've seen them on eby. £200. 3D printed, profesionally painted.
Awesome video, loving the prop builder showcase, would have never seen this otherwise. I want a raygun now!
The usage of the word "meets" in these titles recently is so damn appropriate, and says a lot about Adam's respect for props as storytellers on their own.
I saw a DJ using a toy ray gun for spacey sound effects and such at an outdoor concert in New York once, and I've been fascinated ever since. I haven't started a collection yet, but they are the coolest thing, I don't even know where to start.
I love these ray guns and ray guns in general. I have a XZ-31 Buck Rogers rocket pistol and a yellow U-235 atomic pistole that the yellow one reminds me of.
huge fan of Dr. G, the iron giant, and the rocketeer.
always love seeing new stuff.
Loving Adam as the interviewer, he is so comfortable in the role.
Without trying to get too geeky about rayguns (although what’s the harm in that), what impresses me is the simple (NOT) commitment to a craft and doing it very, very well. Kudos and applause!
I like how Adam gets so excited about this stuff. Granted its very cool.
I love how HAL is just chillin on the wall in the background.
Adam you are a gifted interviewer. You bring out the boyish nerd. A great gift.
More of this please.
These are the coolest replicas ever! Love the 1950s inspiration!
Gorgeous work. It's like they were plucked right off the covers of old pulp mags.
They look like something out of the Fallout universe!
Fallout is a baby compared to the age of the first Ray Gun concept/appearance which was at around the late 1800's early 1900's. I've never played fallout but sounds cool if they have weapons that take influence from such an old but amazing weapon type. :) I might try it.
joshhh
+Ray Guzman its only the alian gun thats like this. You may also like the laser rifle too but fallout has mostly normal guns. But i think theres a few mods with guns like this.
the first one is in tf2
No duh fallout breaks from our time tine in the 50s and most ray guns are baced off 50s technology
The Yellow "4" gun makes me want to shout "ThunderBirds are GO!" That's some lovely work... and I noticed the DL-44 up on the shelf behind him, (why didn't Adam say anything?!?!) and that damned cool HAL wall-mount, which looks so good I wondered for a moment if it actually speaks and/or controls the A/C.
What I love is that each piece has a different aesthetic and I want to guess the inspiration.. (Thunderbirds, Lost in Space, Flash Gordon, and Jetsons!) and probably get a whole different list from the person beside me.
The filter on the red one is a 'case breather filter' for engines, I have a near identical one on my classic rover
Wow, those are amazing! This guy is definitely really talented.
All day every day please give us more Adam.
Adam your passion is inspiring. Excellent work mate!
In the early 80s I had a great toy ray gun from the fifties in its original box, it was made of red and black plastic and had an electric buzzer inside that made a raucus sort of blaaat noise and a light bulb that flickered, I used to sell a lot of stuff back then, but always wished I'd kept that one. Incidentally I live in Wellington, home of Weta workshops.
These are sick! I Iike the red liquid gray one and the light blue one
beautiful work, attention to detail, period flavour, brilliant application of re-purposed objects/materials. wow! Also, when did it become Adam Savage's Tested? makes sense of course
oh my...
they are all so beautiful!
Fantastic work! I bought a weta ray gun for the competition and never finished it. Still have it!
great vid. very nice paint on these, much harder than it looks
There is something special about an artist interviewing another artist. I love hearing Adam interview other people who love the same stuff as him. Its interesting how different yet similar they are to each other.
those ray guns look beautiful, the yellow one does remind a lot of Thunderbird 4 from the original TV show
the yellow one reminds me of the vehicle thunderbird 4 from supermarianations thunderbirds (it's a yellow submarine with a 4 in red on the side too)
BEAUTIFUL work!
another good video love the ray guns.
the yellow one with the red number 4 on it reminds me of Thunderbirds.
but my favourite prop weapon in his workshop has to be the federation Phaser rifle from the original series (cage episode) hanging on the wall.
Oh man this guy needs to make more!!! lol They're so cool
I love that Yellow one so much.
those are beautiful!
Oh hey jake
I want one omg
Beautiful work!
I like the Hans Solo blaster on the top shelf!
i would have loved to see porter's ray gun or the mark 2.
I never knew I had a thing for Ray Guns. Now I want all the Ray guns from Mars Attacks movie!
is the yellow 4 one designed for thunder bird 4
That's what I thought too, but he seems to have numbered them sequentially and his is number 4. You can see them on his site.
As soon as I saw the 4, I went straight to Thunderbirds!
My thoughts exactly. The red 4 on bright yellow is instantly recognisable as the Thunderbird 4
100%
Thats what i thought aswell, it looks awesome!
Love Ryan Nagata! I love his shop!
When Adam was holding the first one I kept thinking, Watch where you point that thing! I'm really into this idea :)
Those are F'n awesome!
I saw a SW blaster in the background :-)
So much of what I've done with props has come from the hardware store. I fell on the ice one year and couldn't find a cane that worked for my height that wasn't flimsy aluminum tube garbage (some are good, these were flimsy garbage) so I decided to make my own...and make it steampunk. I got a heavy wooden broom handle, some K&S brass, a nail-in chair foot, and copper pipe fittings and started assembling...then realized I couldn't make the fittings go together without pipe in the middle. I had to ask a confused hardware store employee what the smallest amount of 1/4 inch copper pipe I could buy was because I just needed a little sliver of it to connect the pieces together. (He was really nice and once he understood what I was doing, just cut it and gave it to me because their minimum length was something ridiculous for craft purposes.)
I've got a ray gun made out of a junction box and other plumbing that lights up, I've got a steampunk arm cannon/shield combo that was made from large PVC tube, I've got a steampunk spear-rifle made out of schedule 80 PVC that I sanded into an octagonal "barrel" and then foam filled schedule 40 for the staff of the spear, I've got a bandoleer of rounds made from some kind of toilet parts I don't even know where they fit into a toilet, I've got a gunblade with the core made of PVC, and of course I've got so ridiculously many things made of puzzle mats (including all the blades implied by the things I just mentioned).
There is something about how everything in a hardware store has a sense of fitting together that lends itself so well to making fictional devices and weapons. And it's really inspiring seeing Ryan Nagata's work he's done with the same source. (Maybe with a little extra help from being where he is of course.)
Adam did not stop smiling throughout the whole video. Hahaha!!.. He is so in love.
OMG this got me soo inspired to build rayguns! Sooo nice!
These are gorgeous.
The yellow one gave me Thunderbirds vibes :D Very cool set of models, nice style :)
I got the same vibe, definitely cool! Now I have an urge to go build a ray gun myself...
Adam looks so happy oh my goodness
I hope Adam gets inspired to make a ray gun of his own after this. I'm not a CoD fan, but the ray/alien gun you can get in the zombies mode would be awesome to see him try to create.
Anyone getting a Thunderbird 4 vibe from the yellow one?
yes, and that's why it is clearly the best
Yup. The number on the side. I could see myself making a Thunderbird 2 inspired fatso raygun. And there would be a chamber that comes out in the middle so I can swap it. Ha.
Weta makes some amazing kits. I really wanted a Pomson 6000 but sadly it was a limited time offer
Awsume job on the rayguns , I make ones from stuff like yogurt cups and plastic caps etc. Just wondering whats the best way to fasten parts and to paint them ? , I put lights in mine and the lights kinda show through interior so they look kinda melted from hot glue and the light showing through paint and Allthough they look good I think I could improve on my design if I knew best way to paint and glue them.
i like the yellow one, the color and the 4 on the side make me think of the old "Thunderbirds" puppet show.
I'm loving it, those are amazing pieces :)
Amazing creations
Ray guns are so cool! I would love to be able to build similar models..
His voice is so calming
this was awesome, i like gun and replica videos you do!
I immediately linked the yellow number 4 to thunderbird 4, its a perfect copy
PLEASE make a Darkwing Duck "gas gun" inspired ray gun! I need this to exist. And it just HAS to be a Ryan Nagata!
Love how Hal9000 is just chillin out on the wall.
Good attention to detail.
Nice ...."no particular reason to make any".......just shows how much he enjoyed doing what he likes to do.....Great looking Ray Guns ....MOVIE QUALITY!
Reminds me of an episode of "Timon & Pumbaa" where they are runing around on a huge spaceship and enters a room where there are several diffrent Ray Guns and one of them is called "Ronald Ray Gun". LOL
awesome paint job
Nice new intro - featuring Simone:)
Nice video too.
I dig the red one. Such a clean design.
That yellow one! I need to build that yellow one! Now!
i have a question. What film/comic book did the ray gun get introduced?
Wonderful work!
Awh this is incredible! I'd love to just hide away in a workshop somewhere knocking Ray Guns out left and right!
Where can I get Ryans t-shirt!?!? I've been looking all over for one and cannot find one!
Retrofuturistic isnt really my style but I still think these are awesome. Great quality.
wonderful collection !
These are so awesome! I wish I had this level of skill
then make a left.
How do you got 111 subs with no vids?!!!!?
It’s not magic. It’s just observation and practice. Unfortunately I think channels like this inadvertently, actually completely the opposite of what they are intending, make people think making is something that is a have or have not skill. In fact, really easy to develop and fast.
Whow... it's ludicrous how elegantly his Mercury-Era NASA windjacket fits this kind of cosplay :D Looks great from the first frame on. THIS is the kind of stuff it really is made for :D (Okay that and the NASA themed episodes of Mythbusters of course :D)
Exquisite collection.
Love your work mate!
All I could see was the han solo dl-44 blaster on the top shelf behind them!
Hey Adam could you do a one day build of a ray gun? Would be great to be able to see the process. Greetings from Argentina!
Amazing collection!
Every young boy in the 60's when I grew up loved a good ray gun.
3:38 Adams mind just exploded over those bolts
That's really cool. Salivatingly cool.
I liked the HAL9000 'eye' on the wall.
uhhhmazing, love his styling.
Awesome workshop!
