Q.) Which is a better film, *Happy Gilmore* or *Tin Cup* ?
Happy Gilmore
Caddyshack.
Happy Gilmor
This is tough. I think I still lean Happy Gilmore but I love Tin Cup.
I relate waaaay more to tin cup. But Happy Gilmore quotes seem to sneak their way into conversation at least once a day.
just imagine seeing your local pro doing this for an hour
Borealis you absolute legend
People would probably be thinking, "Well if that's how he does it...and he's a pro... maybe that's how I should be doing it." Hahaha
Dude made me spit water all ah over laughing! Thanks
This channel has really become shit
What in the world is a CH god doing on a golf channel?
Trying to hit it 350 yards? Happy Gilmore accomplished that feat no more than an hour ago.
Tiger Combs well good for Happy Gillmooooh my god
Guns don't kill people, I kill people.
Trying to reach the green from here
Hey shooter, arent you forgetting your 9 iron
Tiger Combs he accomplished trying to hit it 350? Cool.
You didn't yell, "So long BALL" when you were hitting. That's good for another 25-yds.
Add some fist pumps for additional accuracy
I believe it was "SO LONG SUCKAAAA"
The Happy Gilmore swing requires a lot of practice.
A regular swing requires a lot of practice.
irsr05 I’ve been practicing my regular swing for 20 years....it still needs a lot of practice.
@I Like Waffles I've been playin golf and practicing pretty off an on throughout the years but I seem to be progressing fairly fast.
The HG golf swing I’m always good at, and I’ve driven it 200 yards. I’m sore to this day it goes even further.
“It kinda works, but it takes a lot of practice”
Unlike regular driving...?
Yeah, but the consequences of a missed shot aren't comparable. Missing a Happy Gilmore shot will send your ball 4 fairways to the right or 3 feet in front of you, while a missed regular drive will go 100 yards or be in the next fairway if you have a bad slice.
@@Pr3st0ne some of my drives would beg to differ
Benjamin Smith you’ve obviously never seen me with a driver, I can put the ball behind the tee with a bad shot
I hit one threw my own legs last weekend.
I've used a driver and put it in the hole from the tee box before.
Unfortunately that hole was made in my head after ricocheting a nearby tree...but hey! What was I talking about again?
You know, I saw Rick playing yesterday.
And I've got to tell you... this guy spends more time in the sand than David Hasselhoff.
Lol
Old joke but ok
Germans love David Hasselhoff.
It was funnier the first three times you said it.
Burb Big burb golden joke but ok
Imagine someone walks in for their lessons right as you're doing this
Are you telling me theres another way to swing a golf club? 🤦♂️🏌️♂️
How is there no replies to this comment after one year lol
Lol
Least I can say I was second and third
@@LONDISMEALDEAL i was the 4th

Plot twist... Rick never recovers his swing and becomes a 20 handicap overnight.
Yeah that’s what would happen
Great fun video... keep them coming.
Sports Science did a similar episode about 10yrs ago with Padraig Harrington. Same result. Farther drives by about 30yds but hard to control. What was cool was when they slowed down the video, his swing and position at impact was almost identical to his stationary swing. The difference was being in motion allowed him to have a bigger shoulder turn that resulted in more club head speed.
John Shirley took words right out of my mouth...definitely works but nearly impossible to be consistent...
there's also force multiplication of them already moving in the direction of the shot, it might only be a couple mph but it makes a difference. ads much more variability of where the clubhead is in every plane though, which is the reason for the inconsistency.
@@murphaa9564 Tell that to a professional basketball player
I dare u to only use this method in the tournament!
Liam O H yes, practice it some more then give it a go
With the stipulation you can't tell your fellow golfers what or why you're doing.
What next, saying "just tap it in" every time he putts?
@@Ficii1 just a little tappy tap tap taperoo
What about a tournament with this type of swing only
Rick Gilmore 😂 Man those were some BOMBS
'Appy Gilmoah
Combine your happy Gilmore swing and super straight balls and play a round!
That can read really wrong!
Iain Ahahahahahahhahaha
and the x hammer!
That was outstanding!! Well done Rick Gilmore.
Would be interesting to see if your distance improved when taking a normal swing after doing this. This exercise is so good for drilling down weight transfer and increasing more shoulder turn
Been watching you’re videos for about 2-3 months now. Honestly at first I was just watching for fun but I shot my first 81 the other day and was beyond happy! Thanks for the great videos RICK!
Sincerely,
A grateful golfer!
You've been practicing for an hour on a new swing and you hit it 338 yards. How many years did you use the standard swing before you hit it 300?
This is a bloody good question and so warrants an answer... gonna make me loose sleep wondering 🤔 💭 😴
Except some aspects of the swing are transferable bad argument.
@@bmxriderforlife1234 He wasn't making an argument. He was asking a question.
I tried happy Gilmore swings once. Rip to my driver 😢
I simply love how you have fun with golf. You don't take yourself too seriously and that makes you majorly relatable. Great video!
Of course it works, Happy Gilmore accomplished that feat no more than an hour ago.
Would be quality if you did a round of happy gilmore! Putter technique and everything!
Putter has to be with a hockey stick. "Just tap it in".
“It’s all in the hips, it’s all in the hips...” -Chubbs
my fingers hurt...
His bags are packed, send him home...
Temper tantrums included haha
Rick I've been watching your videos for a couple years now and I gotta say the quality and content just keeps going up. Love what you're doing and thanks for helping me get into golf!
⬇️Comment below with your favourite Happy Gilmore Movie Quote!
I don't know why you didn't work about ten of them into this video.
I DARE you to Happy Gilmour a whole round against Finchy!
The best is when he runs up on the flop shot from like 40 yards
Hickory shafts.
Yes! This needs to happen
YT golf day challenge! Everyone should tee off once like happy Gilmore
Robert Davis I did that on the first tee at a really fancy club. My partners were just a little embarrassed
My good buddy John tried this on our annual golf trip..no distance...broken shaft...you've been warned..very funny though..thanks for the laughs John
@@briansmith3191 yeah I broke my shaft doing it aswell..
And put with a hockey stick head on their putter.
Newly getting into golf and so glad I’ve found your channel. I’ve already watched your series on how to fix a slice and plan on working on it tomorrow!
Rick you’re the man! This video is great! So glad you did this!! 💪💪💪
I love it! the Happy Gilmore swing. Rick your the best man.
Next up. How to bowl the flintstone shuffle!
Rick props to you for all the innovation you are bringing to the CZcams golf, massively impressed. Congrats on your work for Cancer with the golf day. I bought a ticket for such a good cause but unfortunately I won't make it. Keep up the great work, loving the content💪
Thanks so much
Nice, great video and dedication to the game. I practised a version you take one step from the ball, then step in as you swing. Lots of work needed to make it work.
Absolutely love the honesty of this video!
Reminded me of my golf group lessons when i was 12, when instructor wasn't looking we used to do the Gilmore, cheers for the vid Rick!
love it. hit one of my best driver golf shots by doing this. haha, pretty crazy. love the vids!
Great video, keep em coming
Bless you Rick for even attempting this. This was a fun video to watch if you're a Happy Gilmore fan.
Rick you truly are the man. Thank you so much for having such consistent great content. As a 21 year old new golfer you really have shaped my love for the game. And I truly believe that's why you started the channel. So just wanted to let you know as a relatively long time subscriber I think you are the pinnacle of why golf is a beautiful sport.
Hey Rick, would love to see you and Pete do a 14 club challenge and a 500 shot hole in one challenge!
Only been watching your channel for about a year or so, but this is immediately my favorite video! The one club challenge and now this? Great entertainment lol.
Rick, you come up with the best content ever. These are the things people NEED to know! Thanks for sharing.
I love how you always come up with new ideas. Great vid Rick 👍
You can use physics to work out the best technique. Force = mass x acceleration (F = MA) therefore the run up that allows you to accelerate right up to the point of impact will be the best. I think running through the ball works, as long as you're creating enough of a counterforce to translate the acceleration into the club head.
Brilliant test, lots of fun. I'd love to see a PGA pro use this in a tournament.
Awesome Rick... you’re so fun to watch! Keep up the great work! You’re number 1
Great video!!!...super editing....So much fun!!...I would LOVE to try it like that!
It has to be hit with ANGER Rick, you need a good slap around the face before you start next time lol
Weve got a hole in the back 9 that me and my pals always happy gilmore off the tee box
Such a fun video idea Rick. One of my favourite films colliding with my favourite CZcamsr!
I love the way you talk to yourself and motivate yourself, a true rolmodel
Swing like Ronon Dex in Stargate Atlantis s3e17 "Sunday".
The video we wanted but were always afraid to ask for.
This was my absolute favorite video you ever made! Your the tops.
Well done Rick! Nice to have the occasional fun video. Solid effort, Happy Gilmore would be proud!👍👊
You’re amazing my man! Thanks for everything you do!
Thanks mate
The whole time watching this all I could think was "This guy is at work right now." Lol
How funny you came out with this today, I re-watched Happy Gilmore last night!
Like the suspense and format Rick!
“Look at the way he’s standing”
Happy “You like that?”
What if you recreated the Happy Gilmore driver test using the new Cobra King F9 Speedback driver. Do you think the technology plus the technique would get you to the 350 yard plus territory?
No
Loved the pep talk Rick!! Great video!!⛳🍻
My back hurt just after watching this, GREAT VIDEO, super fun..... thanks Rick!
When are you going to review the new Ping G410 LST driver?
Happy gilmore style putting. "What could go wrong?"
Its fun trying to do it, done it in the past its like a workout 💪
Happy Gilmore is my favorite, and it’s crazy you can pick up 10 mph of club head speed off a couple step run up! I usually can Carry my drive 280 to 300. Great video Rick
Happy Gilmore did it with wooden drivers, just saying.
I’m here to tell you it DOES help, I used to do it👍🏼😂👍🏼
Really coming out with some banging vids rick 💯
Definitely trying this on the course tomorrow!
I’m trying to become the long drive champ using the Happy Gilmore!
Long drive champs do 400 and 500 yard drives all day long. His 337 yard Happy Gilmore drive wouldn't even qualify.
I might get to 250 yards with that technique! And about 250 yards off to the right as well...
It’s not that hard if your ever played baseball and are decent at golf. After a few tries it’s not bad at all.
Brandon Gavin easy if you play hockey
Awesome video Rick! Would love to see you do a video with one of the world longest drivers of the ball and see if you can up your distance using their techniques
Hi man your a legend taught me how to perfect my drive thanks a lot
The question is, have you ever driven a ball 337 yds or more using a normal swing?
Him and finch had a contest a few yrs ago to see who could hit 350.....I think finchy won that one.
Funniest thing I have watched all week. Where do I send my $5 because that was worth the fiver.
LMAO.
I am just cracking up watching you grunt and snort through these shots, hilarious!!! You are the man Rick!
Great video ! Enjoyed it
"Lets see if i can hit a good one"
Hits 270yrds first swing
It was a duck hook left. you can see it in the video.
@@justinm101581 I hit duck hooks all the time with my regular swing. I'm thinking this might actually make me less likely to tense up under pressure. Just need to practice a bit. I've done it a few times in scrambles with no practice and it went OK
Why is Mr. Short game not invited to the tournament?
Outrageous and fun!
Might give it a go on the range next time!
This is why we love your videos Rick. You're not above trying anything that us wannabe hacks try. Happy Gilmores, driving with a putter, playing a par 10 hole, playing opposite hand... Awesome.
Prediction before I watch it
- Shiels laughs all the time
- The ball travels up to 10 yards further
- Shiels concludes that the worse accuracy is too much of a tradeoff and Happy Gilmore is thus "not for him".
Edit: got everything wrong.
🤣
You got the laugh, that it went further just further than you thought and that he didn’t like the control aspect so pretty good job.
between the ages of 11-13 i watched Happy Gilmore to fall asleep every single night
great video Rick! You are a great coach and player!
Thanks for testing 😍😍😍😍⛳️
Glad to see you're getting a similar outcome compared to Padraig Harrington when he did similar 8 years ago
Ask any player on Tour, they all know that Padraig is the king of this shot. He also won the European Tour social media "Happiest Gilmore" challenge.
Do a collabo with Mr Short Game!
It's nice to see even professionals getting a little flustered! Keeps it real your my favorite man
3:13 “Rick Gilmore” love it 😂
I was surprised this was actually dope and not gimmicky
Where is mr shortgame ,,, no invite , you dropped the "golf" ball there
It's about time someone did this with a launch monitor to answer that question. I've wondered ever since that movie came out. Thanks!
Your BEST training video EVER!!!
Could be the next Big Thing for Golf, Like Two Handed Bowling 🙄
My dad who doesn't golf did the happy Gilmore swing and got 220 yards, his farthest drive
Update he hit a 260 with the happy Gilmore swing a few days ago!
I love your channel for t he crazy things you do👌
Go on like this!
3:12 "Rick Gilmore" Love it! 😂

Padraig Harrington absolutely hammers the ball with a run up. Wow! Check link. Skip 3 minutes. I don't play golf but I may start now haha
czcams.com/video/wguFY0DDoAU/video.html
@@rockyslay4310 really no difference between what Padraig and Rick did. Yes, Padraig had a longer run-up, but it added only 30 extra yards to his drives. They mentioned in the video that his average normal drive was 296 yards.
If he averaged 30 extra yards, then he ends up right around Rick's longest drive, give or take a few yards. So how much did he actually "hammer it" and how much was it dramatized and hyped up for that segment?
@@gonuts4donuts He just hammers it with control. You can't go 101% but 99.5% would be nice. I have played golf 1 time in my life haha but watched Augusta many times haha
That was a lot of fun to watch!
