It's crazy how it took the Tekken dev team 6 months to make version A of Tekken 2 and then an additional 6 months to make the PS1 port; all while things at Namco were insane with black company conditions and developer egos threatening the project
It may be a surprise, but as you can see from these TAS videos, ver A Bruce's combo(czcams.com/video/cXsiP-nqUQs/video.html) is practical and murderous. It can be said that somehow balanced it in ver B.
Is there any link to that, especially of the ego stuff? I love old school game history and reading or watching stuff on retro game development. I just finished the half life 1 thing from valve
@@mainaHighway During the making of Tekken 2, so many developers got so fed up with the horrific working conditions at Namco that they left in droves, which could be one of the reasons why Tekken 2's initial release was so unbalanced because there was essentially no one left to balance the gameplay
The story of how they managed to port it to the PS1 was also quite interesting, they had essentially redesign the code base to fit the PS1's limited RAM and also add new content to give it a better value. In order to do that they had to compress some of the moves in the game by removing them entirely if they were a part of a different combo, just like what happened for Bruce Irvin's overpowered low kick move; and also reduce the amount polygons and animations used
The PS1 port of Tekken 1 used 70% of the arcade's animation data because of they had to save space for it to run on the PS1. Tekken 2's home port used 30% of the arcade's animation data; and Tekken 3 used only 10% of the arcade's animation data! 🤯

It’s crazy to me that I have been playing Tekken so long that I can tell that Ver A has more bitcrushed audio and the announcer sounds slightly different with less reverbs

I'm going to guess Ver.A means the arcade version since the music is different.
Please tell that first sequence where Nina got jabbed to death wasn't guaranteed.
Geez, Lee's df1 is nuts in this game.
Maina giving the business to one of his beloved Changs will probably never stop being a thing.
Ver. A is the first version of the arcade version of Tekken 2. A little bit later on, there was a revision of the arcade Tekken 2, known as Ver. B. The AI is a lot different between the two versions, lots of physics are more broken in Ver. A, and a couple of moves for each character where added and/or slightly altered for Ver. B. The PSX port is based off Ver. B.
TLDR; Ver. A is essentially a vanilla version of Tekken 2, while Ver. B is the patched version.
바운드 되면 타수 초기화되니까 죽을 때까지 패는 게 제일 큰 문제점이었네 ㅋㅋㅋㅋ
실제로는 매우 어렵고요, 건지면 무한대로 맞는 건 철권 1에도 가능합니다. 🧐 땅에 닿을 때 약 1~4F 정도 타수 초기화가 되는 지점이 있어서 이걸 정확하게 하려면 낮은 고도에 띄워야 가능합니다. 니나 안나의 로우킥-백스핀촙(2RK LP)이나 브루스의 트리플 니 2타(4RK LK) 정도면 무한을 노려볼 수 있습니다.
