The best fly tying channel I’ve stumbled upon on CZcams. Technics and material. Not patterns. I just love it. Keep it coming.
Best regards
Trond Kjærstad/Norway
Thanks so much!!!
Just found your channel......I love your sense of humor.....I am literally going to back up and watch all of your previous videos.....great job
Thanks! Very much appreciated!
@@flyfishingtheozarks have a great pic of a couple monster browns I caught on the White River some yrs ago...first one was 15#...second one 13#.... Both were caught in almost the exact spot on consecutive days...most memorable 2 days fishing of my life....
Thanks for charging, wow learned a lot today watching your video.
Very useful information about using peacock feathers.
Thanks for continuing to deliver tying tips. I not only learn more about the materials we use, but you always throw in some great tips to improve the way I apply them. Combining the loop with the hurl (oops😜) is awesome!
Thanks for watching!
Just by the title, I clicked "like" on this one! I LOVE using peacock and ostrich in my flies! Between the colors and the buggy properties of peacock, I use it all over the place!
Dude that's awesome !! I've never been picked for things like this on CZcams!! That's epic!!! Made my friggin day !! Thanks Boss!!
I was trying to find an excuse to get back into fly tying and fishing and I think I did. Thanks Brian!
Good!!
Peacock herl is the first material I tied nymphs with too. Oh man- that takes me back.
Now I know why I have problems with herl. And now I have the cure! Thank you Brian for sharing your expertise!!! I love these videos!
Glad to help!
Keep the videos coming man !
Really enjoying the tutorials.
Peacock is just a staple and is so versatile. Pheasant tail nymph was the first tie for me and I use it all the time. I like using it to make beetle wing cases, thorax’s, and even played with making legs with it. I always have extra since I use a ton.
Never thought about making a rope with the thread…taking that tip.
Great video as always Brian! The fly tying tips series has been amazing!
Side note:
The one dislike hates Dave Chapelle and newborn babies...
Peacock is a great material. I sometimes use the herls as the topping on a wing on some flat wing/deceiver style flies. Peacock gives that fish like shine underwater and really illuminates.
Dubbing loop herl blew my mind. Thanks for that one.
A testament to the versatility of peacock herl is that besides streamers and nymphs, it makes an awesome body on the renegade dry fly.
Steaming herl can help the fibers stand up if you purchase some strung that is kind of matted down.
If you’re a recreational tier and doing only a handful of quill bodies at a time, a pencil eraser works well to take fibers off of the quill pretty quickly.
Another great video Brian,
Frank and concise, another reference video for sure
Peacock is such a versatile material.
Yes, great video over a great material! Looking foreward to see more of these videos
I love coming to your vids and getting an answer or inspiration. Please keep it going!
Thank you! Will do!
Peacocks are all over my area. Great video.
I love flies and decals
Peacock is a great material love the shine underwater
Loved it mate from Pauly at Wilderness Coast on Fly in Australia 🤓👍🇦🇺
Nice to see you be able to get out and tie flies for people
You unpacked that nicely 👍☕️☕️
These videos are indispensable
Strip the quills with a pencil eraser. Makes it fast and easy.
Great video Brian. I think peacock was one of the first materials I tied with too, lol. Pat is an amazing tyer and all around artist too!
I tried that thread trick immediately and man, that is great. Definitely how I'm tying in peacock herl from now on!
Hey Greg, you are the winner for this video! Shoot me an email at bnwise@gmail.com and I will get a care package to you!
Glade I found this. Tks for showing me.
Great video man.
Great video. I always learn something .
Great video Brian. Very informative getting. Ready to try the thread trick Thanks Again.
Yep pretty sure peacock herl is one of the first materials I used as well! I still love using it. Although my favorite herl is definitely ostrich herl.
Good stuff as always man!
Great info as always
I’ve had some peacock for a while but had no idea what to do with it. Thanks
peacock always looks good i use alot of it
Would recommend that you always ribbit counter to the normal wrapping direction like you did in the latter part of this video? I've always thought that counter ribbit is better that if you ribbit the same way. Inquiring minds want to know. BTW you need to bring your 10 wt rods up here to Michigan and try and land one of our salmon in October. Keep the good stuff coming Brian.
With Peacock Herl it isn't 'quite' as important to counter-rib, but highly recommended
Awesome great tips I’ll use and share .
Great tips, love peacock!
Good stuff! Keep it coming
Awesome video brother!
🤔the peacock swords are used in salmon and seatrout flies as an over wing also, possibly in the UK more than your side of the pond
Nice I learned something new today👍
Nice job! I like the thread loop technique, have you tried twisting the herl with oval tinsel, a la Alec Jackson? Adds strength and nice flash. How about tips on tools? I am constantly annoyed with any &/or all my hackle pliers, have several dubbing loop spinners, scissors I use are what’s in reach first, have all different brands and styles of bobbins, etc.. thanks!
Ooops, never mind, found your video on tools.
If only I'd seen this before I tied a bunch of chironomids, or should I say tried to tie a bunch of chironomids and got frustrated with the tips of the herls breaking time and again. Of course, it just pushed me deeper into the streamer game :-)
I thought of a couple names for a playlist of your fly tying tips that was too good not to share: "Wise on the Vise" or "Vise Wise". Not sure why it popped into my head lol
Love it.
Love adding peacock to the top of my streamers
Banging video
Thanks again for a nice educating video. Allthough you did not go through much of using peacock on a larger (pike size) streamers (on back for example), is that something that you dont just do/use?
I actually probably use Herl on streamers more than I do tying nymphs anymore.....just totally didn't think about putting that in this video.
You are the peacock of the tying world lol
Thank you for your uploads!
P.s your gonna make me hurl! Lol 😆
Herl is a love hate for me to use on nymphs and streamers.
Veryj nice.
Great video... next I'd like to see foam for terrestrial flys
I struggle with getting peacock into my flies. The crap is just SO fking fragile! putting it in dubbing loops is a pain, and if you blink just wrong the stupid herl just breaks.
Ribit🐸
Can’t beat peacock
Peacock is one of those materials that is just fishy...
