DIY Rain Gutter Strawberry Planter || Improved Version

- Good Tuesday afternoon to everyone!! Over a year ago, I built a simple DIY rain gutter strawberry planter using nothing but reclaimed materials. In that years time I noticed that I was watering the strawberries more than anything else growing in the garden, come to find out, the drain holes I drilled in the bottom of the rain gutter sped up moisture loss!!
In today's video, we're gonna build a new rain gutter system without any drainage holes and mount the gutters on an A frame structure that I built out of more reclaimed materials, this will be the improved version of the last system!!

@@HomeInTheSticks Thanks Dan. I just got mine installed on the fence and kept the slope for drainage. Project is still going on, going to make a couple support brackets to go in the middle amd then plant my strawberry plants in there to finish off.

That's a great idea Dan I've seen several of them like that just be careful that you don't end up with a mineral buildup from the water draining into another level or several levels. And of course, the in caps don't leak there supposed to hold water so it won't get all over the place

Looks good Dan! I am thinking this will work well for you. We have some strawberries in the garden, and try as we might the varmints get the best of them, but nothing much better than fresh strawberries. Hope you have a bumper crop.

My problem is with the birds and critters, how do you keep them away?

I'd look into some bird netting, maybe that'll help ya out, it's light and birds don' like it!! I hope this may help ya out some, thank ya for stopping by the channel, come back and visit!! Would it be a good idea to create the waters end with a pump to recirculate the water back to the top?
