Nasrudin & The Hangman's Dilemma

Richard Dadd's hand-drawn animation to accompany this ancient fable, told by Kent's resident tale-weaver Tony Cooper.
This special feature for webakestuff.co.uk/blog accompanies a BBC Radio mini-documentary we made about Mr Cooper and his professional storytelling.
Nasrudin is a traditional Middle Eastern character, but Richard decided to doodle a European Mediaeval variation to better suit Tony's narration. Look out for some visual nods to Canterbury's West Gate and the Isle of Lewis chessmen. Richard has wanted to make his drawings move ever since he was a kid, and he is very excited to at last achieve this - with special thanks to some hard work from Mr Adam Droy!
