British math-rockers, TTNG, create a wall of sound that transcends their numbers. Tim Collis’ frantic tapping, finger picking, and Spanish stylings form the framework for their erratic blend of delicious notation. His tablature and chord progressions are so desirable that they’ve been made available for sale. Constant, extreme chord changes in odd tunings flow over dance-able beats. Ethereal vocals swoon over bold, echoing bass lines. The drum kit delivers rim shots, cymbal pings and driving floor toms galore while transforming their ever-evolving rhythm. They write like seasoned novelists, they perform with aplomb, they are TTNG.

that moment when you realize this band is a three piece
+Dean Ripper First time listener here. Thanks for pointing this out. Awesome.
used to be a four piece when this song was released, if i'm not wrong! the vocalist and bassist got replaced by hank tremain after the second album, which is why so many comments are fighting about who was a better singer..
Yeah, wow...
yeah, thank you
not always
The guitarist is so calm knowing that he's in a planet that is inhabited by the likes of only a few. Everything is green and clean, the water is crisp and fresh. The local needs guns to defend themselves from the likes of this guitarist who, for the lack of a better phrase, just killed it.

What still gets me after all these years watching this video, is that Henry isn't even the original singer. The feeling he puts into his own unique performance is incredible.
Dude he sounds hella familiar to stu
god bless the singer just keeps hitting those notes so much props to every member of this band for their musicality
The main guitar riff is one of the most creative things I've ever heard a guitar player come up with.
Is it bad that I watch these videos more than I listen to their album? The performance is just sooooo smooth and perfect. I love it.

God I love Henry’s voice
Always come back to this. Beautiful song, excellent execution. One of my favourite bands.
Amazing Band, and amazing studio always bringing enlightenment to the music scene. I love it all around.
So tense and beautiful.
The studio version was impressive but the live is even better
Every time I see this video it's like the first time. I'm always impressed by everything.
Ridiculously good! thanks for putting this up.
I'll be damned if Henry doesn't just destroy Stu's vocals on some of these nicer live recordings. I absolutely loved Henry's performance here...and it seems Stu struggled with this song a LOT live. I'll admit that I've found some pretty pitchy random performances by both vocalists, but it seems that when Henry's got a good sound guy and the ability to hear himself properly he really nails his shit.
Stu was always sick live lol
Idk man I like Henry's version better

thanks audiotree. keep spread out good bands and musics. love from indonesia
i like the new album, i've been waiting for it and really didn't notice that it was sung by a new vocalist. for me or in my opinion, i like the old vocalist he fits perfectly but somehow i appreciate the new vocalist for his new style. i dont care if there's new or old members as long as they never stop making their kind of music that is too unique bringing us food for our soul. keep it up TTNG i hope there's still a lot more upcoming live gigs :)

Glad to see 2 Filipinos into TTNG :) Our math rock community is barely existent.
RamenThief69 Make that three ;D
TTNG is amazing with the old singer and new one. And for all the people complaining about the vocalist change it could be SO much worse, not to say its bad now because its not. Remember Blessthefall with Craig? Epic. or Escape the Fate with Ronnie? Sensational. Then they switched up singers and the rest is an epic failure. This singer gets it and while most times nothing is as good as the original, this singer definitely has the potential to do great things with this band. Look at what he's already done. AND HE PLAYS BASS WHILE HE SINGS. if anyone plays guitar you know how difficult that can be. especially since the style of music they play is extremely complex. This band and vocalist are simply amazing. Math Rock Forever. 5/5.

From the band names mentioned, thinking the singer is playing a bass and to the use of "epic fail", this is one of the most laughably millennial sounding comments I've had the displeasure of reading lately. Kudos.

Mathrock
Why is it called "Math Rock", back in the 90's it would have just been called EMO (no mtv crap emo but REAL EMO)
1thess523 "Math rock is a rhythmically complex, often guitar-based, style of experimental rock and indie rock." Source: Wikipedia. In short, that is how it was explained to me by local mathrock/indie/jazz musicians growing up. Also, I think emo was coined by pop-bands but I could be wrong.
So it's just technical in other words. I remember back in about 2000 I was talking to this guy and we were talking about music and he mentions "shoegazer" so i thought he was talking about a band I liked called Shoegazer and so I continued talking about them until I noticed he looked confused so I asked him it he was talking about the same band and he said no that a band he saw was a "shoegazer" band, so I ask him what the heck was a shoegazer band and he told me a band that plays real slow music and they play with their heads down looking at their shoes. I had to laugh, I know in my day the Emo scene was coined that because the music was more "emotional" and style wise was slower to mid tempo stuff like Hot Water Music,Jimmy Eat World,Hey Mercedes,The Get Up Kids, etc. As far as current day "emo" i think kids replaced the goth label with emo and added some mtv pop bands. I remember my old pastor saying "emo" kids and I was like he knows about EMO music but he was talking about the goth kids cutting themselves. Funny how times change names but everything is prettyy much the same thing just with a new label.
1thess523 More or less. I have not seen the word shoegaze since I was in high school! Lol. When I used to get my music from Purevolume or MySpace. Those bands you mentioned, I would not categorize in "emo" but instead, pop-punk. Look up: Owls, CapnJazz, circle takes square, those are just a few that I can recall that my buddy put in the emo genre; it is similar to mathrock as far as rhythm or melodies. Exactly, man. It's just someone labeling something or someone. I have read some bands' bios and they said themselves they don't consider themselves mathrock but again, lots of people are calling them that. I guess it's up to the artist to declare what they are. I think "hipster" has replaced emo. Would you agree?
Yeah CapnJazz is an emo band but i never listened to them, Pop Punk bands were bands like Screeching Weasel, old Blink,Old Green Day, Everready,The Parasites,Digger just to name a very few. Ah Purevolume used to be a good outlet for new music and I don't know if you remember how some people came about Purevolume, I used to go to this site called MP3.Com and get a ton of music but they shut down and referred me to a new site called PUREVOLUME. and yes I agree with the hipster replacing emo haha, i am glad I have never followed fads, I tell my three children (14,16,21) if you don't follow fads you will never look back and say "man i looked stupid" and neither will I. Take care and God bless

I can say without any doubt that this is one of my favourite songs of all time.
Hope to see them live in Italy sooner or later.
I love finding links to things. Obviously I mean how things in life fit together. Today, Audiotree found a link for me between my long time favorite bands, Syd Arthur and TTNG. I swear I feel like I'm in some sort of 4th dimension right now!

Can't wait for these guys to come to my country in a few months! Really excited to see them, I never get to see bands I like ever cause they just don't visit, and to be honest TTNG are one of the only very very few bands I'd go see. They have truly been an inspiration for me, both musically, artistically, and as a person. This is one of my favourite performances of any songs ever, specially this version of the song - it's just so pure, good sounding, heartfelt, and just seeing them look at each other and smile enjoying their own art is priceless. I made a cover of this song too myself inspired from this version, but I can only dream of being as good as them ever. I really hope they keep pushing forward and inspiring people doing what they do. Truly amazing! Thanks and greetings from Argentina!
