#HilltopHoods #ShreddingTheBalloon #HipHop #Rap - Hudba
“I’d rather be part of your playlist.
Then ever be part of the A-list.”
Deep shit right there.
#truth
I just keep coming back for more of this 😡🗣
This is like the least deep part of the song lol
Years ago I've listened to this song and I said to myself one day I will be sober, fast-forward a couple of years and now I'm 2 years sober, shit can happen if you let it
Bro me too, I used to listen to this while getting high as hell, got my life together and still love this song. Makes me realize how far I’ve came
gratzy, from family experience i know that shit is hard and it's an extremely rough journey, hope it's still going strong
3 years?
@@skullboy1000 hope all is well man, stay strong
@@Smashed_Hitler still holding strong, ain't looking back at all, sometimes it is rough but I've done so much for myself and my family, thank you for your kind words
Guys, for those who don't know, the female in this video clip represents suffa's drinking problem, hence the lyrics, 'What do you expect, im only 6 months soba'. When she falls, the guy in the video, representing suffa, is happy because he has rid of his drinking problem, and he walks away relieved because 'she' would always drag him into trouble.
its three months sober XD
@Dizzy Hey thanks man been wondering about that, makes sense.
UnitedFront1989 no worries man.
mind blown
That's why I always read the lyrics if don't understand :)
I remember the day this album came out like it was yesterday. I was working on a mineral exploration site. I listened to the album all day headphones in my ears, cutting core on a core saw. This track was my favourite by far. Before morning break already memorised this song word for word.
Just over a year later i became a paraplegic. Got to meet this guys in spinal rehab. Absolutely awesome wholesome dudes. Bumped into them in front of a place that does live music gigs. Guys still remembered me and came up for a chat.
To any Americans watching:
THIS is real Australian hip hop, not the shit that Iggy Azalea comes up with.
+whippersnippingprick So true
+whippersnippingprick im from america, this is all i listen to
What's an iggy azalea? Is it like iggy pop
+Porch412 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iggy_Azalea
+whippersnippingprick check bliss n eso mate, they're fire
The music video shows a guy going through an addiction, which is represented by the girl. She's the one who is causing the issues, while he deals with the consequences. She buys a bag of whatever in the alley, and he just tags along as if he doesn't want to be there, as if he knows that it's bad but he can't help but go along. Then later on at the end where he tries to get something, she rejects him, representing how that sort of life will take everything from you, and never give anything back. That's why he smiles at the end when she "dies". He drops the addiction, and he's now free. Beautiful music video.
I never saw it like that
That's pretty well interpreted.
As a former addict... so fkn real....
This song helped me through a break up, it sounds like what I went through. These guys are bloody legends.
In an interview that Suffa did recently, he explicitly said that the entirety of this song, is about his experiences with and his overcoming of his drinking problem.
The entire song, from beginning to end, is:
Verse 1) How the alcohol made him THINK people were reacting to his work
Verse 2) How he realised what the alcohol was doing to him, and started the process of quitting drinking, and the effects it had on him
Verse 3) Seeing for the first time, what his drinking had done to him, the people around him, and his fans.
As an American, I can honestly say that these guys are one of the groups on my list of foreign artists that should have way more recognition. These guys have a true understanding of what hip-hop is and make beautiful music, thanks to their own twist on the genre. If these guys had the shine that other artists have gotten in my country, in my opinion, some of their work would be regarded as classic material within the hip-hop community.
manjr95 Eminem’s is one of my favourite foreign artists (I’m Freon AUS
I said this back then or before, and still say it. These guys are quality.
For real bruz it's actually sad to see them not fully take off I grew up to these guys
It's not about the money or the applause for these boys
they are classic in aus, i think they are happy with that tbh
"Id rather be part of your playlist." You have for 15 years
Past 5 years for me. But that's dedication
Fuckin ay! Just realised.
Mega Heaps Correct !!
Childhood to here
Yeah bro they succeeded there
Still one of the best songs ever 10 years later
Legit one of the hardest Aussie songs ever lyrical perfection
Hip hop was born in the USA.
It died in the USA.
Hip Hop is reborn in Australia :)
Big up from Poland,Hilltop Hoods rulez!
You should check fluent form, australian hiphop at its finest
Fluent Form - Arrows ft Geko
Fluent Form - Dose Of Slang ft One Be Lo
2 gems
ponczeczek I feel like you typed everything but “rules” in a country other than America
It didn't die, it got sick and caught a hospital plane to Australia.
ponczeczek there is still good hip hop in America. It's just buried under all the mainstream crap.
It needed that universal healthcare in oz.
The Hoods are really good. The one thing that really stands out for me is that they have done themselves a great favor by NOT thuggin and keeping it real to their own lives and life in the suburbs of Adelaide. And their musicianship is very evident. Some of the grooves they drop are surreal. Keep up the good work lads !
just one of the best hip hop bands EVER. No question...fucking LOVE the HILLTOP!!!!!!
Same bro
😊
This is a ridiculously powerful song...
10 years later and this is still my favorite hip-hop song, ever.
Thank you for your genius.
same it hit me a decade ago when my mom showed me nosebleed section and this popped up while i was playing games and it has always stuck with me emotionally and musically
Dude in the beanie teaches at my school as a temp. Now I've seen it all.
+EGPrime small world, huh
+EGPrime I thought u meant Pressure for a minute there lol
This has to be Suffas best solo (In my opinion)
Have to agree. Sure, he's had good topic range in his previous solo songs (eg. 1979) but the production here if so refined and every verse is so well written.
It's pretty dope given the personal significance for him... But not better than Fifty In Five
No doubt.
@@jampakhedrub13 Thats true, I love pressure, but I think shredding the balloon and fifty in five have to be my two favourite hoods songs.
I saw these guys in Madison, WI USA in like 2015. $13 cover for them to come all the way across the Pacific and absolutely tear the roof off the venue. Such a great show, you can tell how much passion and talent they have.
Still here March of 2023 love this song. From America love the Australian rap brothas keep it up!!!
this is hilltop hoods best song!
I guess you haven't heard Audience with the Devil...
I like this one more mate :)
Fifty in five is definitely up there.
the calling is the best album that's what gave them the name
SippinOnChris
restrung or original
lots of love from germany
this song is a masterpiece
Every hilltops song is a masterpiece
This isn't Australian hip hop, THIS IS HIP HOP PERIOD. HIP HOP IS ALIVE!! Thank you Hilltop Hoods from the bottom of my heart.
His battle with the drink, my battle.
Years on and it’s never been more relevant to me.
I am nearly 40 years old. I grew up with bands like pearl jam, Alice in chains, and all of the settle sound. I listen to a lot of older music like Joe cocker, pink Floyd etc. My apprentice left an album of the Hilltop hoods at my place and I had a listen..... All I can say is.. Wow! I know good music when I hear it. Awesome
I'm from Spain and I discover the Hill Tops when I was on a Surf Camp, 15 years laters I still feel this is one the best rap groups ever.
These guys seriously need to show the US rappers how you write and sing from the heart (like Classified). These guys rock!!! Much respect from Canada!
Much props from America can't believe a thousand people downloaded this
Hilltop Hoods aren't making the music for the money. They are doing it for pure passion. I would love to see them really break out in North America. I saw them in a small club in Ottawa, and they blew me away. My sister made me a HTH fan.
I'm Aussie but I know lots of Americans that would agree with me America made hip hop but then they killed it and then Aussie rappers brought it back
Romy Bowen they don’t even rap here anymore, they mumble, like watching cavemen trying to perform
Fuzzy it’s not all about the way they rap it’s also about the meaning of the song it’s hip hop that’s not all about partying and sex
Jammed this song with my brother so much after we lost our dad.. Still brings back chills it's almost been 4 years where the fuck did the time go 💔
love from Seattle, WA, USA. KEEP IT UP
they will be in Seattle on Nov 20th if you didn't know
Such an underrated group, love & respect from Canada.
U probably know this brother but some don't and it makes the whole video better knowing so the girl represents his addiction which makes it even better imo.
If Hilltop Hoods isn't truth then I don't know what truth is.
5 years ago I was close to ending things, then I discovered HTH's music and it fueled me with such a powerful energy that has long lasted to this day, I can't do nothing but thank you guys for putting so much soul in your music, u don't know how much it means to people like me all over the world, we love you, I know I do.
Ditto.. hope your good and enjoying life.. peace homie . ✌️
I hear ya bruh...I was there 20 years ago
This song is pure brilliance
Suffa is so good.
Ya Think!?
2:49-3:05 best part of the song!
+XxGamerprostudiosxX best part is from 00.01 to 4.50 ;-)
+My Amity Affliction amity
You're lucky man, here in Finland I don't hear this song anywhere unless i play it myself, but it still creates the same feeling.
Here, have a million views in advance, I'm good for every single one of them. Felt this one in my soul.
Everything starts of happy, but after awhile that fun just fades away.
I loved Hilltop Hoods so much. Their lyrics are so meaningful and have deep meaning. They will always be the 1# Hip Hop artists.
from a 44 yr old guy.....you guys are simply outstanding musicians, live long and prosper...hats off to real hip hop,you guys define this!!!
God, this is magnificent.
hilltop hoods are the best hip hop artist in the world no challenge
Ooooh I wouldn't take it that far, they're great, but there is far better in Aus
“And it might blow up but it won’t go Pop”
even though I’m happy for their success I’m gutted that they did go pop Everything until Walking Under Stars was laced with Gold, The Golden Era was the shit!
From Austria my kitchen team bring me here 😎👏
This is by far my favourite hilltop hoods song
I think this might be hilltops best song.
Not that it matters, but the dinner scene is set in the Freemasons hall on North terrace, a seriously weird place. And I think the girl is the daughter of a friend.
indeed it is a strange building.
I filmed a short sci-fi film there! truly a weird place.
i spent a long weekend in that space, undead, killing friends and manipulating strangers.
ah, larping.
not nearly as weird as early freemasons seem to us today?
Illerminutee
@Elliot good for you! live act roleplay is both: the highest form of phantasy and living it out & also a super cringy thing to watch grown man and woman do haha
Whoa. 3 decades since the start for these true Golden Era hip hoppers. Proud to be from Adelaide. 🥳🕺
Fav song: recapturing the vibe. Hard to pick one i know 😆 Legendary group!!!!
Having been involved in the clip I can say it was a very organic process and there is absolutley no meaning behind anything in it. Just enjoy and dont think too much!
Been listening to hilltops since i was was 15, from the hardroad to this. And yet this song sums it all up, why didn't i listen till now!!! is it to late?
The flow...
I cried to my wife as I sang her this song in 2015.
Now I cry about my wife cos I go so hard with my statements that I don't know where they end and where i start.
It's a part of the game.
Part of the pain....
maybe my favourite tune of all time
Adelaide Train Station love the hilltops always grounded
I thought it looked like that. Some of it's on hindley st. as well
Love from Minnesota!!! USA
You know those songs that if you hear anywhere, the radio, a friend, etc and you just stop and get that feeling inside you, and then you sit in silence listening to how beautiful it is?
Yeah this is one of those songs, and it never gets old.
I thought the matter over and I have come to a conclusion that it's unfair not letting you know. Hilltop Hoods needs to know that they have their fans here in Poland. I'm listening their music from over 12 years, "sold" them music to many people, and everyone liked it. We send high fives - great job whole group. This track is great too. Cheers!
M8 we Aussies know they have heaps of fans in eastern Europe U guys over there make up most of their overseas fans
This is great music to listen to I am from the united States came by this music video love the song. Great music in Australian Hip Hop!
who else would love a song done by hilltop hoods x bliss n eso ?
Morgan K that would be awesome
there are already some
Jack Gooley where?
Me
Fuck bliss n eso. Bunch of gutter dwellers.
"The shine of the bling and the rims that you ride can all disappear so live for the rhyme, not material things your gifts can provide. "
What sets HTH apart from the rest in my opinion is that you can tell they love the music and to them that's what they live for, not the money or the fame, and there is an important lesson in that.
Much love, my favorite hip hop artists hands down.
I have this as number 1 on my normal playlist. Spotify sent me my stats and I listened to it 530 times last year! "Might not ever get a damn thank you
But they're sure 'nough gonna get a you're welcome"
why does everyone compare this to the U.S. rappers? we all know they've gone mainstream in the (*United States of Advertising*) and turned people into marketing icons, with no chance of being role models for the future. Besides that, I truly believe Aus H.H. is some of the sickest shit on the planet, and their talent and determination doesn't need to be wasted on some worthless comparison. it deserves celebration and respect world-wide. (cheers from a yank wandering the underground) Peace.
This is one of those songs you can just listen on repeat all day all night, any moment. Gets you going gives you goosebumps :)
LOVE IT
Just because you can't relate to Kerser's music doesn't mean others don't. Have you actually listen to a few of his songs? He is a wicked rapper and well welcome as shown by AUSSIES!
Peace, love, and support from America! Love ya Hiltop!
This would be my favourite song on the new album, followed closely by rattling the keys. Hilltop at their best!!
One of the best Songs I ever heard! Thank you very much for your Music. Keep on going, greez!
High respect from Germany!
I cannot stop listening to this track, its pure quality!!!!!!
very talented group
That guy in the beanie is my teacher that's so funny 😂😂
Shreddin'!!!
I can't believe I'm just now finding this!! You have a very unique style! Much 💖 from a fellow addict. 7 months sober today. Good stuff here. SHARED.
Awesome song. Part of the playlist long time. Massive HH fan from England
2019 anyone? 1k 👌❤️
Nah man I’m 3050
May 2020
2024 still part of my playlist😎🙌🏽
Possibly the best Hip Hop trak ever!
fuck me this song is good
2019 throwback 🤙 there was so much speculation with what was going on with these boys before that album dropped. Such a powerful track from Suffa, wish I could do what he did.
This bangs so hard and resonates with on another level who knew an American like me would need aussie rap in my life ,blessed I found hilltop hoods and can jam to these guys
It's a classic for sure did u know the girl represents his alcohol addiction in this vid for those who didn't it brings a whole other perspective.
@@seanbayley7452 damn I didn't thats crazy tho !
@@WorldOfNerdCraft1 yeah if U check it out now U will see how it does and makes sense he's not a morbid prick laughing at her falling at the end there it represents the letting go of his problem he talks bout it in video somewhere it makes a lot more sense when u know.
They're pretty much the exception. Then again, a hip-hop band from Kentucky... gotta be special. Personally love them !
I just fell in love... Awesome band!
This song holds a place in my heart forever
The American hip hop landscape is as diverse now as its ever been and is so much bigger then Lil Wayne and whatever else hits the mainstream machine.
HOLT SHTY THIS IS RAW
Crazy to think this was 2012 seems like not that long ago... what is happening to me!?
Wow you make epic songs guys....WOW
best rap from the southern hemisphere, greets from Poland , keep on spittin' guys
GOLDEN ERA!!!!!!!!! Hilltop Hoods!!!
Amazing 🙏
Jesus, as an American, Australians are so much fucking better
Well I know a lot of Australian hip hop artists get all them inspiration from American hip hop artists....There is a lot of dope shit in your own back yard just start digging for it and don't feed us Australians this bullshit like we are so much better at hip hop because that shit doesn't belong in hip hop.
***** Uh.. what? I've found "back yard artists" if you even call them that. And most of them are above average at best.. Im not saying you are better at anything. These ARTISTS are good at it. The compliment was aimed at the music. And yes, Opinions do belong in hip hop. Trust me
@risingstarrMS don’t listen to Marcus he is a lowlife piece of crap I’m Australian and appreaciate your compliment don’t listen to Marcus he can look in his own backyard and dig himself a hole we’re nobody has to listen to his bullshit
Marcus Baker What?...there is good rappers everywhere so don't be acting like America is just the best at everything like alot of yous do and just respect it.
SA represent
I have to say, im Canadian, but the soul, vibe and heart in the hilltop music transcends boarders. Been on my playlist for three years and by far my favorite hip hop band, keep up the vibe guys, and your will by on my life's soundtrack for many years to come.
hilltop hoods
*incredible*
Come to the (STEEL CITY) *USA*
Like we always do about this time, ink lines for the sick rhyme inclined,
It’s grimy shit but naught that can’t be fixed with a little bit of spitshine,
Big time like Frankie in Vegas, inspiring like Ali and Frazier,
Spit it out till we spilling out on to the street start a party up with our neighbours,
I’d rather be part of your playlist, than ever be part of the A-list,
Harness the energy, heart of a pedigree with the scars of a sadist,
I go so hard on the pavement; I go so far with my statements,
That I don’t know where they end and where I start it’s all part of game it’s,
The farthest I’ve came since I started to play it,
I spar with these artists, the heartless and brainless,
We’re harnessed by chains that are hard to escape and you change then they label us bastards or traitors,
They’re charlatans, they’re haters, they start on us but they’re fake as,
Our parliament, but don’t be disheartened by them pardon their failures,
If we don’t forgive our enemies, we’ll crawl the walls like centipedes,
Burn our energy like fossil fuels and fuel our own damn effigy,
And we’ll all burn like Hennessey, so keep on then and step with me,
John Lennon let it be, dead the beef like abattoirs, before these scavengers tear at me
[Chorus:]
I’ve been waiting to come back,
Like where the hell is the show?
Like a balloon on a thumbtack,
Getting ready to blow,
I’ve been waiting to come back,
Like where the hell is the show?
Like a balloon on a thumbtack,
Getting ready to blow
[Verse 2: Suffa]
And it might blow up but it won’t go pop,
And it might blow up but it won’t burst,
She said she might grow old but she won’t grow up,
Well she might, but only if I go first,
She wears her heart on her sleeve like; she’s wearing a patch on her shoulder,
It’s not a matter of whether I can catch her, more a matter of whether I can hold her,
She thinks out loud she’s got me; she laughs with her whole body,
I think about how she got it all figured out and wonder why she’d even want me?
Each night I find it’s the same ole, when I crawl inside in the evening,
I lie down next to an angel; fall asleep and fly with my demons,
They say don’t live in the past and live each day like it was your last but,
I’d rather live each moment like it was my first, take it slow and sip from the glass,
Savour the moment, spit vicious bars then pray for opponents,
Sounds so serious don’t it? But I’m not concerned with a thing,
This is book three, Tolkien, Return of the King,
The kings have arrived; we drink from the sky,
We fall from all ‘cause we think we can fly,
But our wings have been tied, and the winging and lies,
Have me I’m wishing that I could bridge the divide,
You living the life? In the blink of an eye
The shine of the bling and the rims that you ride,
Can all disappear so live for the rhyme,
Not material things your gift can provide
[Chorus:]
I’ve been waiting to come back,
Like where the hell is the show?
Like a balloon on a thumbtack,
We’re getting ready to blow,
I’ve been waiting to come back,
Like where the hell is the show?
Like a balloon on a thumbtack,
I’m getting ready right now I’m getting ready
[Verse 3: Suffa]
Since ‘State of the Art’ we’ve stayed in the yard just waiting to start this shit all over,
Laying in bars for a day and a half, had to switch from gin to soda,
And by like mid October, record was six months over,
Due, and I‘m like dude what you expect? I’m only three months sober,
Coming up turning tree trunks over, running up burning divas, posers,
Run amok till the sun is up or till one of us # live la vidaloca,
I’m going ta roll until I fold, like I got a hold of Propafol,
So beautiful to know you all but for now peace I’m over and out
bump
Australia can't be ignored that easily now, huh?
I'm just glad that I was brought up in this gem of a country.
FUUUUUUCK lad it still hits as hard as it did in 2012 🙏🏽
