It's not about quality, it's about who's "behind you" - what producers, what record company, what promoters and so forth. You could write the best book ever written, direct the best movie ever filmed, make the best music ever but if you don't have powerful people behind then you can forget about it or it's borderline just luck... 🤷🏻♂️

I tapped on this song not remembering that it was this song and as soon as the girl started to sing I remembered and now I'm crying. Great Song, and I thought exactly how it's described. It's a love story to a home town. They say small, but it's just about being at home and how great it was then and now. I'm from a "small" twon in Indiana , right next to chicago. Nobody knows where "Hammond Indiana is, unless you lived in Northwest Indiana, or are a huge fan of one of the most popular and broadcast Christmas movies of all time "A Christmas Story" by Gene Shephard. Hammond was a smallish industrial town. In my youth about 100K population, which is small next to Chicago, and then it shrank, but Hammond was filled with a bunch of working class industry people, and all they did was work and live. There was no pretensions, not ego, no sermonizing, we all just lived perfectly beautiful. Before I read any analysis by the authors of the song, I recognized it for what it is. A love story for home. They say, "A small town" which might apply to them, but Hammond wasn't that small in terms of Australia, but quite average for the US, especially a border burb of Chicago.
I recognized the story that was being told, and I connect with this song emotionally because of where I'm from, and how well orchestrated the tale is in it's telling.
As an aside, YAY Hammond Indiana. HUGE INDUSTRY and Blue Collar pride, and Boo, Hammond Indiana for becoming a complete craphole.
