The fact that their a dating simulator is brilliant, truly the most difficult and hellish thing that makes hard mode a walk in the park.

Ngl I genuinely couldn't make it through the difficulty. Terror and starvation mode was easier than playing that slog of a difficulty .

The Harvestman taking the girl causes adult fears in us, making us book it to save her only to find out he's just casually petting her is a great twist fake out given the game's difficulty was already making us feel fearful
I was horrified by the harvester when it did that especially after seeing the death animation.
The harvester pets you during your fight with it and we all know what it later does.

harvestmens are created by fellowship so i dont think harvestman was gona do "that" to girl anyway they want her alive

My first ever attempt was on Hard Mode with Enki, no Dash, i didn't make it past the dogs, ten attempts later I started on Terror and Starvation as Ragnavaldr and would go on to finish the game for the first time
I too started on hardmode, and unfortunately died in the same way... good job for beating it in T&S!
Thank you, so far Ive gotten every ending except for Ragnavaldr and Enki's S endings, and last night finished Karin's B route on Termina, solo vs the two final bosses with only a meat mallet and some very basic armor was rough but manageable

@@ryanbarry34 Mostly blind, tho there were a few things like status effects and item effects i looked up because the in game descriptions weren't entirely clear.

Not emiting light on terror and starvation is just plain evil

I've never played anything besides terror and starvation and the idea of emitting light feels like a gift from god

Yeah, if there was at least like a spell to create torches or emit light for a cost exclusive to that mode it would be fine even if it was harder to get as it would basically swap the time crunch of finding Legarde with finding that spell so you don't have to worry about running out of that must have resource anymore.
Honestly, the fact that Hard Mode basically turns the game into a roguelike with unique ending access is a pretty cool idea. A fantastic way to encourage people to get good at the base mechanics, learn to adapt to the rng, and especially to learn the lay of the land so that the can find exactly what they are looking for, and fast.
It really does feel like one of the classic roguelikes in that way (like specifically Linley’s/Stone Soup to me). One shot to do everything, locations and progression remain consistent but items and layouts change, no party members unless you spec into it (summoning or necromancy respectively), multiple ways to “finish” a run (finding The Orb of Zot and leaving is equivalent to finding Le’garde’s corpse and leaving, you technically won but there’s more) and most of all the fact that RNG might just ruin you whenever.

From 20 hp to 250 hp for the guards arm i rly dont see any way for this to be playable early game .
@@orfeas2335 In fairness, without outside knowledge of how this game works and how enemies are statted, it seems like you really aren't supposed to fight a good amount of the enemies for a while, even on normal. With predetermined knowledge of the enemies and items, normal does become a lot easier, but I still feel like the opening moves are mostly the same up to a certain point. It's once you reach the late game that you might see some diversity, due to the wide array of options.
Also there are bear traps that appear only on Terror and Starvation difficulty

Dungeon Nights is such an uplifting thing when you compare it to the gnarly impression the regular game leaves you with, I love it tbh

Usually a difficulty that has the name of the game is the hardest one and if a difficulty called “fear and hunger” is at the bottom, you can easily tell that author doesn’t plan on giving you not even easy mode but even normal mode
The game’s starting difficulty is hard and it’s only up from there

Started of on Fear and hunger on my first playthrough since I had heard the game was brutal. Got ending D and the went on to get the rest in terror and starvation. Honestly I think this was a good call as I was able to figure out most of the systems without worrying about torches. I think I would have had a hard time persisting on terror and starvation from the start
Edit: I accidently wrote ending C instead of D so I corrected it
Exactly, that's the exact reason for which i think it's better starting in F&H difficulty! Because otherwise torches will prevent you from experimentation!

You sort of forgot to mention the differences in torch mechanics on terror and starvation mode, which if we are being honest, are bull crap because it completely undermines the hunger mechanic. Without torches, the game is pretty much unplayable on terror and starvation and you are 100% going to run out of torches before you run out of food, making the hunger meter almost pointless.
I agree, even tho I go even over this and say the hunger meter is ALWAYS useless!

If you know where to go, it's almost impossible to run out of tourches thou. That's kind of the point of playing on the easiest diff first
The chance of getting a torch from containers is extremely high if you have 0 torch in your inventory. So not searching all containers (specially if you know you'll backtrack), and saving sticks, cloth, and tinderbox for emergencies will make sure you'll never run out of torches even if your playthrough is long af.
tbh once you get transmutation, mind, food and healing become pointless anyway lmao
In Terror and Starvation, in addition to rusty nails, you will also find bear traps on the floors.
So does that mean that the Girl cannot be recruited in Hard Mode? If so, wouldn't that make one of the endings impossible to get?
The girl, indeed, cannot be recruited in hardmode! Ending A cannot be achieved!
Same with Le’garde, ending C is impossible to get on hard mode

Haru with one shot kill melts most bosses on merciless it's absolutely ridiculous and the only reason it isn't the easiest persona game is because p2 IS auto battle setting literally wins every fight for you easily and p4 gives you megidolan in the second dungeon lmao

i discovered this twisted game a few days ago, I bought it to support the developper but I can't do anything while playing it xD it is really hard, but your videos are amazing and I sure hope you'll continue !
It is unfortunate that hardmode has absolutely no save method as I am not someone who has probably enough time to finish it in one play session unless I get super lucky and get a empty scroll I suppose.

I really love the CONCEPT of having no light but unfortunately it just doesnt translate well to interacting with the game
Considering that the blindness effect makes overworld maps become pure blackness, it's hardly out of character for the game...
It just makes you play around torches
It could be good if sound design is better, like you can hear different footstep from different enemies

Btw in hard mode difficulty as hardest the character as hardest the dungeons. For example if you go for Ragnvaldr there will be more enemies with flower brains and more flowers will grow (just the visual changes) but if you go for Cahara there will be less enemies with brain flower and less flowers growing in dungeons

I did precisely what he said, looked at the difficulty modes and concluded that I should go with Terror and Starvation since that was clearly the ‘real’ experience. What absolute misery. After my 20th restart, I just went with the first difficulty. It was definitely hard enough.

To clarify I do mean everyone and thing that can’t fit in your final party, emptied.
Technically you can kill everyone, except Nosramus and Nashrah and Pocketcat iirc, all the rest is killable!

Ironically, "Merciless" mode in Persona 5 makes some boss fights much easier, as its boost to damage scaling works both for and against you.

Dogs can follow you inside in F&H difficulty too. Believe me, it was not pleasant.
In F&H difficulty they can only follow you inside if they already "spawned" in the entrance zone!
I played for 10 hours and still haven't finish the game yet because i want to finish it with The Outlander and i suck at it but it's one of the best turn-based games i played
