- Author of new book 'LeBron', Jeff Benedict, joins Colin Cowherd to talk about the life and career of NBA superstar LeBron James as he endeavors to lead the Los Angeles Lakers to a 2023 NBA Title. Benedict tells Colin about the earliest moments of LeBron's start in basketball, and recounts the story of how LeBron met his idol, NBA legend Michael Jordan. They also talk his time in Cleveland with the Cavaliers, both the exit and the return, and whether or not he could return again should he leave the Lakers. Plus, Benedict draws comparisons between the movie 'Air' and LeBron's own journey to a sneaker deal, and where he sees him going in the future.

This segment was INCREDIBLE. More stuff like this!!
They should bring him in break down The other books
@@JBP28no they shouldn’t
This is the type of content what makes me love Colin. I love how Colin just allows Benedict to tell the story without interruption, then when he finished, Colin transitions with a great question. What makes a question great is when it is asked, it is something that we all were sort of stew in our mind but can't quite grasp yet. Great journalists can find those questions during interviews -- this comes down to the journalists research.
Glad I got to witness his greatness LeBron is a real legend and a true leader can’t wait to see what happens in the future for him
I love the Herd and Mr.Collin but most of all ,my true love LeBron James😍❤👑
He’s going to lead a group to buy and bring an NBA team to Las Vegas, going to get multiple ships within 5-10 years.
-Bron Fan April 28th, 2036
Overrated bum with 4 rings in 20 years 🤣
So true.... we are lucky to witness greatness....
@Yos0023 are you hating?
I want to go back in time and watch Lebron for another 20 years. Dude is the pinnacle of what all athletes should strive to be like. He’s not perfect but the he’s done a lot of things the right way.
Lebron is such a great player. What a story! No movie is needed. There should be a great documentary on this.
Ordering this book today!!! Let’s go Lakers we need this win
you'll love it
I love how their fates are so intertwined, but don't play in the same area this was a breath of fresh air from Ric bucher just hating on Lebron
One of your best segments Colin. Great job!
thanks for letting your guest talk unlike most other hosts.
I believe LeBron holds himself to a really high standard and demand success in all aspects of his lives, both professionally and personally
Don’t know how people keep hating on LBJ. The challenges and adversities he faced and overcame is nothing short of amazing. Praise and celebrate greatness before he’s gone.
😂😂😂😂
Bron is my 🐐 but I'll be lying to say he'll be this great for this long and I Play basketball 🏀 in highschool, for Bron to keep doing this is mind blowing to me
Man the Lebron Documentary will be fking amazing.
One of the greatest players to ever step foot on a basketball court but more impressive is the fact that in this age of social media where everything he does is under a microscope, he has never been involved in any type of negative scandal with the law, drugs, adultery or otherwise.
What a great and deep interview to know more about such an amazing guy. LBJ is so special!
I'm a Jordan guy but LeBrons story is simply incredible!!!
I myself am a King James guy but I must tell you, I have so much respect for the fact you simply stated your preference and didn't need to tear Lebron down In order to make Jordan look good which is with 99.9% of Jordan fans do.
@@BooHefner I respect LeBron. I won't never ever disrespect him. Because to me life is more important than a game. He is a winner on and off the court. That's more impressive to me than just winning championships. I realize some people may think that is corny but I understand as a black man. What it is like to grow up poor without a father and make something of yourself. He has done things for himself and everyone that has been a part of his life....and kids that have not been a part of his life. He makes a difference both on and off the court. That separates him in my eyes.
This dude killed this on here and on Volume! What a storyteller! Colin more interviews/convos with ppl like this!
I just loved this verbal commentary, the way Lebron carries himself and has evolved to this point to me makes him the greatest. He has all the accolades on the court and more importantly the accolades of it as well.
I’m 34 and have been battling Lebron haters the whole way !!! He is the greatest athlete and story of all time . Not even close when you factor in everything the man has done on and off the court. He’s only 38 and not even done yet ! The 🐐 The 👑
You're delusional.
Without a doubt!
4-6 in the Finals isn't the G.O.A.T. but it is a goat. 😆
This was THE best segment i have ever watched!!!!
Been watching on my commutes everyday since Collin had brown hair.
This is an undeniable top 3 segment
Man this story is fascinating.
I love this and I loved the book. There comes a point where people will downgrade someone so much, they begin to look stupid due to the mounting evidence of the person being a great human. That's LeBron and the people who hate him for no reason beyond... Sentiment
The fact that Bron grew up without a father and didn't repeat the mistakes of his father of being a deadbeat dad and abandon his girl. It takes a level of self awareness to not repeat that.
I still think his basketball career is headed for something major. There is more! Wait for it!
I'm getting this book..
the greatest player of all time. what a story
Lost more than he won. Played 40% longer than the real GOAT (MJ) and still hasn't surpassed him in accomplishments.
@@thedon2703 he literally has MJ beat in every statistical category other than ppg. He’s the all time leader in points AND top 10 in assist, leader in first team all nba, in all star selections. All time leader in pretty much everything in the playoffs. And he played in a harder era against harder teams. The 3-1 comeback alone in worth 3 chips. There is no debate. LeBron is the GOAT. Case closed.
@The Don Out of 10 finals LeBron was the best player in 8 of them. Cmon now.
Jordan is the GOAT. LeBron is top 3
Agree! Signed with Nike and made sneaker history. 6-0 with 2 3peats in the Finals is mind blowing
They would have you think MJ hate Bron mean while MJ like Bron let them think that we both go make bank of who is number one
One of the best segments on this show that I’ve watched ever! Good stuff
What’s amazing about LeBron is he never changes. He always said he won’t speak on topics he doesn’t understand like China and has kept to it. But speaks up for the Black community and what they need and deserve constantly. That’s great leadership.
The problem with that is he did speak about China by calling out Daryl Morey making him look like a greedy hypocrite. Lebron is the ultimate capitalist(and there’s nothing wrong with that) but if something has the potential to hurt Lebron’s pockets in which Morey’s stance had the potential to do, Lebron voice is raised. The way the media has lifted Lebron up to be an Ali-like figure is nauseating & ridiculous.
Just finished reading the book - highly recommended
ditto
Damn!!!! I need to read this Book!!!
Wow need to buy the book asap . Documentary will be best ever in NBA! My 🐐 Bron
Love him or hate him Colin is an all time great interviewer! Easily could've done prime time television
What an amazing story. Can't wait for the documentary one day.
I been a LeBron supporter since day 1!!!
Listen to The Skip Bayless Show podcast: sprtspod.fox/SkipBaylessShowPodcast
Always appreciated Lebron, but now definitely in Awe of this Young Man..
It’s a shame LeBron won’t be able to get past page 3 of his own book
😂😂😂
😂😂😂
When they LBJ what does he think about he’s own Biography, he will say, Ummm yes he was a Very Smart Man🤦🏽♂️ LeUsurper wears a Bronze Crown.
I actually wanna read this book 💯
GO and cope it.Audiable version fire as well
Incredible segment! Great interview
This was an AMAZING segment ..
WOW 😲❤🔥
BEST STORY EVER!
Thank you for giving us a glimpse on LeBron's younger years.❤❤❤❤❤
It takes a strong man to move on but it takes a stronger man to forgive.. Bron could have made the declaration of his decision nicer but Dan's response was overboard as if lebron didn't give his best to save his franchise and as if he didn't brought that trash team to the finals and eastern conference twice. That's why i salute Bron for being so forgiving and even fulfilled his promise to bring a chip though i believed that bron even didn't owe them anything, but he still did because he loved that city. And that's what makes him the real goat in my eyes.
Incredible and very interesting well done!
Fantastic segment
This is why he is the G.O.A.T.! 👑
I don’t know how can someone hate Lebron. He’s not perfect but he’s fairly a great person on the court and outside of the court.
Lebron's highroad on Dan Gilbert was impressive.
I'm gonna LeBuy the LeBook tonight!
Ordered the hardcover just now
Great interview
Very informative… great!
This is phenomenal content and insight.
I love the zoom in
No matter how you feel about Colin’s takes, he’s a really excellent interviewer and show host. He knows how to lead and develop a conversation, lets his guest’s talk without interruption, and is always prepared and knowledgeable when he contributes to the discussion.
The greatest sports athlete of all time. The intensity of early childhood success without a family unit just the awesomeness of who LeBron James is as a man. Then they had to slide in to some politics. Colin what a shame.
I know that ruined this conversation for me too.
I never knew MJ gave Bron his phone number.
Great show
Sonny Knew The Greatest Basketball Player Ever Was In His Presence
O my god ! This was incredible
That was great 👍🏽
Definitely buying the book
Wow… incredible!
What a beautiful story.
This interview made me purchase the book.SENSATionaL read. From start to finish,Lebron is remarkable ON and OFF the court. This account of Lebron life is the best out there hands down. The Narrarator is excellent on the Audible version as well. Kuddos.
Great segment wow
This is a GREAT book! Go cop it and read it. I couldn't put it down. Great interview!
Kyrie was viewed as a bust?!!! Colin bumped his head with that one 😂😂😂
It’s true remember the cavs picked in the lottery during kyries first four seasons. It’s was Lebron endorsement that kept him in Cleveland
Before Lebron came back he was. He had tremendous talent but couldnt stay healthy or carry the team. Besides the politics Kyrie’s career is very similar before and post Lebron.
LeMovie was right there😂
Just amazing
I need that book
This is a movie Colin I'm buying that book because that guy deserves everything
This settles it. LeBRON THE GOAT..this single segment was 10× better than all 14 episodes of the Last Dance.
Watch "Jordan's historic Bulls mixtape" and "rare voyager", dude was just different bruh, lmk what you think of those two videos 🔥 🔥 🔥
Uh, okay bruh 🙄
It’s OK to stick up for your boyfriend, but let’s not go crazy here
😂😂😂
Everything the guy said sounds fictional.
But every story can easily be verified since almost every person involved is still alive. And when it comes down to a writer's credibility, you have to view their track record. Jeff Benedict has written 16 nonfictional books. He has written several biographies of iconic sports figures. He has never had any serious credibility issues, always cites sources. In other words, the person telling these stories has a credible track record.
This was a great insightful interview Colin, Good job 👏🏾 👍🏾
The LeBron China stuff had more to do with hypocrisy of saying Morey was “misinformed” and then backing down when actually pressed on the issue.
You watched this video and heard all of that only to comment on this?
You people don't still get it until today. Lebron saying that morey was not educated didn't mean that he was favored of whatever chinese government was doing to its people, it's him saying that morey SHOULD NOT stick his nose to other people's political business because it could ruin the athletes business brand such as their shoes, their tour or appearances. Their shoes are not just their brand but their business/source of income. Lebron doesn't speak for himself alone but for all the athletes, it could also has a negative impact on the country's economy and could ruin the relationship between NBA and China. People like you who have nothing to lose for just opening their mouths should just shut up and try to understand deep what others were trying to convey.. You haters are just straight stupid sometimes. It's sad that your hatred cloud your better judgment and make you look like a fool.
Shut up
@@Pucklum5 Saying LeBum had courage to be stumping for Barry in 2008 is astounding. What black person wasn't voting for Obama? Not many.
As an Ohia native, Lebron means more than basketball player to me....
This is incredibly beautiful
😂😂😂Sonny knew LeBron was the GOAT EARLY!
👑🐐
I’m sending this book to Dillon Brooks
Best segment I’ve ever seen on this show loved it
There is an argument to be made that he is the greatest human being ever
Stay in Miami lol..d wade was breaking down ..LeBron went berserk in that finals and had no help..I’m glad he left
🙏🏾
This was a fascinating segment
Tells me Jordan knew Lebron was better then him back then
Yeah, okay. 🙄
Living legend absolutely the greatest of all time
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@johngalt60 see u mad huh 🤡😆😆 tfoh
@@ybcslimg3538 no bruh, everyone knows who the 🐐is and it ain't your lap dog
@@johngalt60 then how come ur in a thread trying to convince ppl of ur opinions? Reaching for a confirmation to reinforce your own opinion?
😂😂😂
@@ddp5406 so a bunch of laughing emojis in a response to a ridiculous statement is trying to convince people of my opinion? Interesting 🤔
LeBron's documentary gonna be crazy
The guy knows when an opportunity is there for him
Okay so, this needs like a billion views. Wow. And then we have Dillon brooks disrespecting legends 😳
Bring him back
So the guy who signed MJ says “I’ve never seen a player like Lebron” when he watches a 16 year old lebron james . Now that’s crazy
The Chasin One
I really wonder if Delonte West/ Cavs team betrayal of Bron will be (or at least alluded to) in the book.
Don't understand why Scoop Jackson wouldn't have the honor of writing about LeBron?
Skip might skip this😌🤷
LeBron James the greatest player ever
Listening to Colin wax poetically about LeBron is hilarious after dismissing lbj from the league some years back in favor of BEN SIMMONS. Dude said "we're good bro, you can go" 😂🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
Is crazy to think that Lebron was actually well on his way & was highly capable in Winning 2 to 3 more rings & who knows how many more in Miami but decides to go back to Cleveland to make it right. Could have easily catch up to Mike in regards rings, howver, to be honest, this only makes Lebron James story much more fascinating. Going back to Cleveland and winning at his hometown after everything. Almost like a fairy tale story
Did this man just compare lebron to Alexandra Hamilton?? 🤦🏽♂️
Did u listen to what he said?
