The singer, Paul Stanley, had the starring role in "Phantom of the Opera" in1999 in Toronto during the last year of its ten-year run. He did it from May to October of that year.
I saw him in Toronto in 1998 when he was doing a interview with Q&A with The Q-107fm and saw him in The Phantom Of The Opera and was crying though out the whole show.
I didn't know that. Paul Stanley singing Music Of The Night? I NEED DIS!
For a moment I thought you said "Phantom of the Park"! Bad flashbacks! Loved it as a 7 year old kid, but totally cringed when I saw clips as an adult.
Thats not an easy role to play...he nailed it!👍
@@truckshackley373 its on CZcams if you hunt a bit🧐
Maggie should react to Beth sometime. Peter steps out from behind the drum kit, sits on a stool in the middle of the stage and has the crowd eating out of his hand when he starts to sing
Maggie is grooving to the tunes
"I Still Love You." MTV Unplugged. This is a requirement.
You is on write That reguirement.I STIL LOVE YOU
Paul Stanley best vocal ever.
MTV unplugged I Still Love You
You will go insane.
Yes, this is the one to do.
YES INDEED!!!
That entire MTV Unplugged is great... when they bring Peter and Ace out for the closing set, just so good... really shows the band as quality musicians to so many that think they are just a sideshow and never really listened to them... I show that to friends that want to bad mouth KISS and it pretty much shuts them up, heh.
Yes, I agree! Best vocal performance by Paul Stanley.
You're right dude 🤘
Loved the reaction, Kiss is known for their performance more than their musicianship I have seen them 12 times it is always and amazing show.
Rammstein also have epic performances. I hope Maggie reacts to them someday.
Love KISS my favorite band, Paul Stanley in his prime is an amazing vocalist.
One of the best episodes of Scoobie Doo was the one where they met KISS.
There was an actual movie called Scooby Doo meets Kiss
This song is so iconic. You Can hear the chorus everywhere, bars, stadium...😂
And it’s McDonald’s theme song in Australia too
Of cours thats iconic . The GOD Of rok singing THIS song So caefuly listen
This is from their Kiss-co (disco) time. I love their classics Firehouse, Beth, Deuce and Strutter. I agree with everyone saying Unplugged, I Still Love You as 🔥 🔥
To really hear Paul's singing range I'd suggest reacting to "Million to One" - Kiss.
Such an underrated song. Best on the album.
Not bad for a guy was born deaf on his right side and he had a birth defect.🎉
I agree. The guy had better pitch for the first 40 years than many who had perfect pitch!!! Right? Last few years oh well. But this guy was unbelievable!!!!
They said, “any schmuck can write a hit disco song.” Then wrote one. While this isn’t a typical Kiss song, it sure does kick ass. Need to do “Shout It Out Loud” and picture a bunch of 6 and 7 year olds singing it. That was me and my friends.
Exactly, Paul proved they could roll with the changes, and they had a radio hit , remember KISS didn't get played very much if at all back in those days
Kiss has the CLEANEST ROCK show you could ever see.... I took my wife and pre-teen kids to the Hard Rock Casino in Vegas when they were there for a residency. I also saw them at Irvine Meadows as the headliner and Motley Crue as the opening act, THEY BLEW the CRUE off the stage. The FELLERS are old but still are the BEST... "HELLO MAGGIE RENEE! YOU ASKED FOR THE BEST, YOU GOT THE BEST! THE HOTTEST BAND IN THE WORLD..... KIIIIIIIISSSSSSS!!!!" ---> opening song Detroit Rock City!
This was their answer to popular music at the time and is usually disliked by hardcore Kiss fans. They had some much better examples of what they usually sounded like.
Yeah, I was Made for Lovin You has a disco sound. Its still a fun song, but not like most of their music.
@@deed5811 I saw them in concert before this was released and they were 🔥🔥🔥✌✌❤
Love the reaction as always. My best experience with KISS was seeing them perform live with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra in 2003. It was a perfect mix of black ties & black leather.
To really appreciate Paul's voice you should try "I Still Love You" from Kiss Unplugged.. Phenomenal performance..
See KISS before they're done, it's amazing show. A lot of no KISS non-fans/wishy washy fans convert to KISS after they see their show.
KISS pretty much did whatever they wanted music wise. They did hard rock, metal, disco, 80's glam, etc. It's how they were able to evolve with the ever changing music industry and appeal to all varieties of fans. They were like the next generation of The Beatles at the time.
Paul Stanley (vocalist with the star), did a stint on stage in Toronto as The Phantom in POTO. He is also deaf in one ear due to a birth defect.
LOL you would love "God of Thunder", "Detroit Rock City", and "Pyscho Circus"
Glad you enjoyed that, its always fun to see someone react to a song that is ingrained in my youth. If you truly liked the song may I suggest "Sure Know Something" or "Shandi" from them as well. They have a similar "Disco" like vibe to them.
Gene Simmons, bass player, also married to former PLAYMATE, SHANNON TWEED, had A&E REALITY SERIES, GENE SIMMONS FAMILY JEWELS
I still love you unplugged is Paul's best vocal
Yes yes yes
Maggie, do you happen to live in New York? If so, they are ending their final tour in December at Madison Square Garden. If you live close enough, you NEED to attend.
I will be seeing them in November at the Hollywood Bowl.
The makeup was for their personalities. The Starman, The Demon, The Spaceman, and The Cat. Their stage personalities.
It was Genes marketing genius. There's hundreds of not thousands of licensed KISS products out there. From skateboards to coffins they were on top of merch like no one else.
This song is Catchy, It was on the Album Dynasty. Producers wanted a More DISCO Feel Since Disco was Hot at the Time. Pissed me off as a Kiss Fan Since the beginning as a Kid. Listen to The Rockers Like. Strutter, Firehouse, Detroit Rock City, Rock and Roll all Night....Then With the Makeup Off....Lick it Up, Heavens on Fire....just for starters!
This was their answer to disco. Huge anthem in Australia
"So this is like a legit thing. I thought it was a Halloween act." o.O I literally have no words.
Great vocal performances by Paul Stanley, I still love you (from Kiss: unplugged) or A million to one (from Kiss: lick it up.
Paul is an underrated singer, nice reaction too!
honestly ace frehley the lead singer reminds me of stanley kubrick's a clockwork orange guy, gene simmons the demon bassist backup vocals he's famous for the toungue too, and sweetheart kiss is the most popular band of alltime, record sales, merch like t-shirts and posters, best metalband alltime, draw straws between black sabbath and judas priest
Go watch the Kiss Symphony: Alive IV is a 2003 live album from the American rock band, Kiss, performing with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (MSO).
I saw Kiss on their first several tours. Half the audience in Dallas thought they were a joke. They had Bob Seger on first tour, and second tour, Styx opened. Saw that twice cuz of Styx. They are nice guys. Even in their 70s, they still do their own makeup
This was KISS telling disco to KISS off. A Rock group can make a better dance song than they could hope for.
Kiss is a 70s era band, and back then groups tried everything just to shock people. The painted faces and etc. was only used on stage. The rest of the time they looked like 3 pieces and tie businessman. I had the pleasure of meeting them at the Indianapolis Civic Center where my mother was employed. I got to see their limo pull up and them get out. I was there for their concert in 1973. Employee Discount, thanks mom and R.I.P.
Kiss is definitely a band that you have to listen to at least two of their songs. They're one of the only bands I know of that split the singing duties between mainly two members. Most of their albums are a pretty close split between songs where Paul Stanley is the main singer, and others where Gene Simmons is the lead. It's really neat because where Paul can really hit the high notes, Gene is the opposite and can really hit the bass.
Back in the New York Groove.
When I was like 3-4 years old I was facinated by KISS everytime I saw them on TV, Gene Simmons scared the shit out of me everytime and me hiding (especially when he stuck his tongue out and "blood" came out of his mouth) yet kept running to the TV everytime my parent yelled for me when they came on or once I started recognising the few KISS songs myself that were on the MTV cycle at the time xD
I watched Kiss Live it was awesome
I grew up on Kiss. There was nothing else like them at the time. The metal sound, the costumes, the pyrotechnics.... I once saw an interview with Gene (the demon that gives you nightmares.) He told the story that they started based on the shtick and makeup and once they started to become famous, they actually went and learned to play their instruments better and took voice lessons. (Only Ace, the Starman/lead guitar was actually really good before that..) Apparently it all paid off! Also: Kiss - "Beth." N'uff said.
I really like that song (Beth), but rumor has it that NONE of the other band members wanted to play on the recording (true or not?) There is also a sort of a parody video with the music that's really good.
@@rromano158 Beth ended up being one of their most popular songs because it could cross over to other genres. Regardless of what anyone wanted (and they were always at odds with this on virtually every song) they did all participate, and I'm glad for it. ☺
Paul Stanley was a genius ...I'll write a disco song and take it to the bank...true KISS fans hate this song, but Paul got paid!
That's true, but I've been a fan from the beginning and I've always liked it, I think most people just don't want to admit it because their afraid of what others might say, it's a great song enjoy it for what it is 👍
@@timothyrobinson1612 For pop music it's a good song, but for true KISS. it's not. You can't tell me that this song is in the same league as earlier KISS songs...that would be insane.
@@jeremiahrose4681 no your right, but they needed a radio hit and they got it, It worked, let's face it they weren't played on the radio very often with the earlier songs, unlike other bands that were favored by the critics
I respect how well you read. Others stumble very badly! I now know you are educated.
You can see them out of make up in their '85 "tears are falling", though Paul is rocking the lip gloss in that one. ;)
Much better. You cleared the audio very well. Thanks 👍. 1. This is just a scratch of the surface. The best example of Paul Stanley's epic voice is from an acoustic Unplugged performance they did. You need to check out the live Unplugged performance of a song titled I Still Love You. It is amazing.
When I was four my mom took me and my brother to see Ringling brothers In the seventies and the stadium forgot to take down the KISS SIGN hanging up in the arena
Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons were in a band together before KISS but didn't like the musical direction they were headed so they decided to start their own band. One night both of them went to see Alice Cooper perform live. Afterward they said to each other we should have a band with four Alice Cooper's in it and become the band we wanted to see Live.
Wow. This chick can sing! Not many people hit those notes so freaking perfectly. She could sing this song better than probably ever other cover on the Internet.
You can tell this was coming out of the disco era it definitely has that disco kind of beat to it
You should watch a video on their history. Its actually pretty interesting plus you can see how the crazy makeup and costumes came to be! Also they have their own Scooby Doo movie😂
if you do movies, may I recommend the only live action (though campy / cheesy (well it was made by Hannah - Barbera)) KISS movie - "KISS meets the Phantom of the Park" - 1978 (watched it as a kid, bought it on VHS tape before I even had a player!) - has a few of their songs in it : "Beth" "Rock and Roll All Night" "Shout it out loud" as well as each member's "super power" displayed :)
Their way of keeping up with the popular music style of the time....disco-esq
Have seen them 26 times, first time was in Lakeland Fl when Ace got shocked coming down the stairs. He was so stoned and drunk that 30 minutes later he was ready to play the full concert.
Kiss Symphony Live
The best albums Kiss made is 'Kiss', 'Hotter Than Hell', 'Dressed To Kill', 'Kiss Alive' and My favorite 'Destroyer'
Gene Simmons is the wealthiest band member and front man. He also had an acting career. You want to really be Shooketh then you need to see him live singing God of Thunder.😮😅
Oh and 11111111😅😅😅
I joined the live KISS party a little late. Didn't see them in concert till Lick it up tour when Aerosmith was the opening band.
Paul had been dating a gal who was a popular disco singer and the song is written about their combustible relationship. The disco sound is a nod to her music platform. Btw, it is normal to lick your guitar. That's where the great guitar licks happen. 😉
Kiss was my first live.concert. 1975. San Francisco Cow palace
Finally someone who appreciates Paul's vocals for me when they went unmasked in my opinion was when he was in his prime vocally (aka 80s)
Why oh why oh why does everyone start with "I Was Made For Lovin' You"? Casablanca Records, even though KISS was their first band, had become a disco label by the late 70s and disco was, sadly, super popular. According to their manager at the time, KISS was contractually obligated to do a disco style song. Paul was in Studio 54 when he figured that ANYONE could write a hit in this simplistic style. He wrote this very quickly and it became their 2nd biggest hit, though it was A LOT more popular outside of the US than it was in. This song is actually not bad live because they do heavy it up a bit.
True except that he and Desmond Child co-wrote it.
the no makeup 'Heavens on fire' still my favorite KISS song along with its ridiculous MTV video of the mid 80s
Aside from their."carnival movies" Gene Simmons starred in movie ""The Bountyhunter" woth Rutger Hauer.😎❤🤙
we really need more kiss reactions!!!
Fun fact Paul Stanley was the Phantom in the Phantom Of The Opera in Toronto for a good run
Yes clearly
The guy with the 'bat eyes' is the bass player and Gene Simmons, he's the one with the 12" tongue, the one singing with a star eye is Paul Stanley. Peter Chris "the cat" is the drummer, and the on with silver eyes is Ace Freely, the lead guitarist
Kiss was my 1st real concert, Gulf Coast Collision, Biloxi Mississippi, in 1979. Jimi Hendrix played his guitar with his teeth so does that count?
Fun fact: Gene Simmons the demon was a school teacher at ps. 89 in Manhattan I belive, his name is actually Chiam Witz
One of the greatest bands of all time
Greatest metal band around kc concert 3 hours awesome
Paul Stanley (the lead singer in this video) had a stint as the Phantom as well
Theres a video called Heavy - The Story Of Metal. They interview KISS at one point and Paul Stanley said "Most people are a Ham, Im the whole pig!" Another person said most bands want to be The Beatles, we wanted to be Coca-Cola. They were ALL about MERCH!! There was KISS everything back in the day. From clock radios to lunch boxes. But the best clip was of Gene being asked "what is more important: the money or the fame?" He answered, "the fans". He said its their job to make sure the fans get their moneys worth every time. Gene Simmons, and his mother, immigrated to the US from Israel when he was 8 years old. His mother was very beautiful and the border guard bumped them to the front of the line. Once here, they learned that the National Anthem was played on tv late at night before the channel sign off. He and his mom would get up at 2am to watch the video that was aired during the National Anthem (patriotic stuff: the flag, fighter jets, fireworks, etc...). They would stand there with their hand over their heart until it was over.
I was a kiss fan I got albums back in the 80s and i saw there last concert garth
Watch Rock The Nation tour, you'll see lots of KISS makeup in the crowd 💋🎸🎸🎸🥁🎤🤘😆🤘
I guarantee ya gonna be singing this all freaking night
The scary one is Gene Simmons, and his character is the Demon. Although it could've been the Dragon, his makeup always reminds me of dragon wings.
Everytime you try to imitate/replicate anyone now all I hear is Elmo..the can't get enough falsetto is literally Elmo 22:45 😂😂😂
I've seen them three times, in 77 in Texas, 81 in Washington and in 2000 in Chattanooga TN, it was a Fathers Day gift from my son was was going into the USAF a couple of days after the concert....ironically the show in 2000 was part of their farewell tour....which now has a final date later this year. To think my own Father hated these guys, said they would never last like performers of his days (Sinatra).....Dad died in 91, a shame he died and didn't get to see them 50 years later.
Like kiss or not, kiss remains one of the biggest and most influential bands of all time
KISSco
They were signed to Casablanca Records in their early days, which was the same record company that signed Donna Summer and The Village People.
Yes please do more Kiss songs 1
That style of face-paint can be traced right back to Japanese kabuki theatre, where each character has a different facial design.
I Still Love You from MTV unplugged 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Call us The Kiss Army
its called glamrock 'glamour rock'. hence the makeup and the heels and the tight outfits and the whatnot
I Still Love You Acoustic KISS
Kiss has a song and video “Lick It Up” and it’s only right that you react to it. 😛
Nothing KISS do is normal that’s why I love them
q buena reaccion ,,imagina haberla en cuchado y visto en su momento cuando tenias 9 o 10 años..asi nos impacto los del setenta
My son 21yrs just got tickets to the Oct 2023 kiss in Cleveland...his Father's Day gift...getting to see them live...with him...will be special best wishes
Gene Simmons also had a reality show with his wife model Shannon Tweed and their kids
I dressed up like Starchild for Halloween as a kid.
Gene Simmons of KISS has a VERY long tongue. One of the longest in history. So he sticks it out a lot.
"I Still Love You" from KISS MTV Unplugged 1999
This Song is from 1979 ,my start as a Metalhead was 1980 , with the Kiss - Movie and the Movie : HEAVY METAL , this Song was a Promo- Part of the Kiss Movie in Germany and Promo of the Solo Album of the Member in the Soundtrack , not in the Orginal- Version
One of my faves from them. Kinda that disco era and we skated to this at the skating rinks.
They often get criticized for playing simple songs, yet they are catchy and all know them! Nice react
With this Kiss lineup the best musician was Ace Freely the Star Child guitarist
We Are The Kiss Army
It's trademark KISS... just let it be!!
You should take that up close smile and put it on a t shirt that says “Music Makes Me Smile”. They used the face paint for different reasons but the biggest two was anominity and they don’t do songs they do shows. Imagine how it went, back in the 70’s when junior brought this home and Granny heard/saw this for first time.
