  • Hey! Welcome to my channel!
This week I wanted to bring you all up to date with my singing journey after having surgery to remove my thyroid last year. It's been a roller coaster to say the least but hopefully you can see that things are now looking a lot more hopeful!
    - - - - -
I really want to create a positive and uplifting place to talk openly about my experience with having thyroid cancer, all the way from diagnosis to post surgery recovery.
It is such a rare form of cancer and is unfortunately very common in young women, I couldn't think of a better way to raise awareness and help others than by sharing my story.
I want to start off by saying that I am not a medical professional. I am simply sharing my story as if you are listening to a friend. If you have any concerns please see your doctor for proper care and medical attention.
As always I am so grateful for all the love and support I have received. Please subscribe if you find my video interesting and feel free to share if you think it would be useful to anybody else!
    Lots of Love, Eleanor xxxxx

Thank you for sharing. I have to have thyroidectomy because I have cancerous tumors on it. I have sung in the gospel choir, group and praise team since I was 9years old. Now I am 51 and afraid I won't be able to sing anymore after the surgery 😭. Thank you for sharing your story. 🙏

God bless you I’m a semi pro singer in a duo with my husband it’s regular paid gigs I just had nodule and half thyroid taken out only a ten days ago I’m trying so hard to find a teacher or therapist who could help me SO far the surgeon says it’s too soon to even go to speech therapy they don’t seem to know that much about issues with singing thank you thank you again best of luck to you and all who are going through this

I had a total thyroidectomy 4 1/2 months ago and have gone from being able to sing operatic
music to singing 3 notes yes that's right 3 notes and then it sounds like a boy in puberty.
Rather than getting stronger and better it seems to be going the other direction and getting
worse. It is such an effort to even speak and singing is totally gone. G-O-N-E gone. At
4 months your speaking voice sounds normal. How fortunate you are.

It's been 1 year already for me after my surgery. I still can't sing in a range as I can before. Any tips for fast improvement?

    • @eleanorlakin6953

Hi! I’m sorry to hear you’ve lost a bit of your range, I can understand how frustrated you must feel. I would definitely suggest trying to get in touch with a speech therapist or going to someone who deals with voice rehabilitation. I went through those processes and found it so helpful! Also gives you the peace of mind to know you’re not causing yourself any damage!
I would recommend doing vocal warm ups through a straw into a glass of water, you’ll be able to find CZcams videos of someone explaining it but that’s one of the best things to work on your voice in a safe way! I hope that helps! Good luck! 💓💓💓

Hi Ellen, I remember for years before my surgery that I used to have very irregular periods. As soon as I had the operation I had a period and they have been regular ever since. I did wonder if it would change anything but so far I haven’t had any problems xx
