My thoughts exactly! This song almost sounds like Tom going into sarcastic autopilot. I could imagine Mark texting him one day after the tour ended and they hadn't seen each other in months and saying "IDEA FOR NEW BLINK ALBUM. BACK TO OUR ROOTS SOUND. 'CALIFORNIA'." Then Tom, sitting there, not knowing how to say 'no' or leave the band writes the most over-the-top thing to show himself how ridiculous it would be to go that far backwards.

The Founding Father! I've always thought, pre 2nd break up, this was supposed to be the title track for what became what we now know to be the modern Blink - California albums. Oh man how epic it would have sounded if they held it together and made another solid album, at least if it was just one more.
Can we take a minute to appreciate how much this man has done? He has started two amazing bands, then later becoming a solo artist, while even having cancer. What a true inspiration, doing what he loves the way he loves.
He made 3 amazing bands, produced a movie, an animation, a documentary, wrote books.

Wackerman only played on New World. The drums in the bridge sound like a Virtual Instrument, so I think they are programmed which wold make sense because this is a demo.

An Endless Summer, Golden Showers, and Suburban Kings would have been singles on the Blink record if he was with them at the time. I know they are friends now again but yeah. Those songs with Barker on drums and Mark on Bass and vocals as well would have been amazing.
He wrote them for blink. Too bad mark and travis are so money hungry they just cant wait a year or two for a good ass album. They just want more and more money playing the same played out songs on some festival.
The follow up to Dogs eating Dogs could have been great mixing classic blink with a progressive blink would have really worked.

I think Tom is my all time favorite singer to listen to. Amazing. I loved Blink 182 in college and Tom is just so talented he really sings amazing and much better as lead. Love his singing. So good. I just discovered Angels and Airwaves. Amazing.

The problem with neighbourhoods was that Tom brought to much AVA into the instrumental part rather than having it sound like blink. The lyrics were great, just to much added sound. This sounds like blink. I love it.

As much as people here are saying that if Tom was with them now, California would sound like this, we all know that it would just sound more like U2 meets Coldplay (so basically AVA). Even Travis admitted that's what Tom wanted to do when they were originally planning to record for it.
You hit the nail right hard with this statement, it makes me feel upset that a lot of people here are hating on the new album because it was too poppy but I'm satisfied with it because it's the closest thing that sounds like classic Blink in more than a decade.
