This is the first time I heard Tom sing like this, it's really good.
I know this song is literally about a soldier, but I've gotta say it fits pretty well when applied to the idea that depression is an internal war that can remove you from yourself and the ones you love. And then there's the sense of disbelief and relief when you finally find yourself home.
Whether you take this song at a literal level or you project your own emotional meaning into it the lyrics are really wonderful either way. I'm glad Tom made this song.

As a blink and AVA fan and someone who has met Tom I can say I've never seen someone enjoy what they do as much as him. If you can't understand his urge to spread his wings then you aren't a Tom Delonge fan. :)

Matt Skiba is a GOD! Alkaline Trio's first few albums were so beautiful, raw, and sincere. Goddammit is basically punk perfection. But honestly he's no replacement for Tom. Blink needs Tom, and Alkaline Trio needs Matt.

I don't quite agree. Neighborhood was great and greatly underrated, i love 'After Midnight' and it has actually a similar feel to this one. But anything Tom's ever done was surely better than the new pseudo-blink without Tom...
Great song. I Just really wish you were still with the boys. All of the songs on their new album are so fantastic... But their missing their soul. Matt try's but it's just not you man. If I try hard enough I can literally hear you singing the verses that Matt is singing. That actually makes it hurt even more.

im Hamez i agree. Even though tom's voice is screwed up now, he was still awesome. Matt Skiba's voice isn't one I can really remember, it doesn't really leave an impression.

Anyone can sing this and make it sound good. In my opinion this is how he should sing bc hes way better at this style. His high voice sucks now.
