- I take a walk in the neighborhood of Forest Hills, Queens. It has been many months since I last visited, and I've noticed several changes. A new pizzeria opened up, Five Below is in town now, and several businesses underwent renovations.

My husband, daughter and I walked all those Forest Hills streets and neighborhoods for 37 years before we decided to move to another state. It is nice to see this video as it brings back so many wonderful memories. I hope that NYC can come back to what it was before -- being safe. I don't know about the trains. I just want the best, not only for Forest Hills, but for all of NYC. Thank you for this video.
That Five Below building was a great movie theater. Opened in the 1930s and was a great place to watch a movie. Saw “Stand by Me” there in 86
Very cool!
It was the Forest Hills movie theater and, just around the block, on Queens Blvd. was the Midway theater. They flourished before color TV’s and then, of course, before the Internet.
Ah my old hangout❗💗Wanted to live here so bad. 😎🙌🏾 wow that Lucille Roberts is still there, as well as the Gap. That target used to be Barnes and noble 😯
It's been gone for a few years now
My old neighborhood, the first one I lived in when I moved to NYC actually a little more than 10 years ago now. Forest Hills & Kew Gardens is one of the best residential neighborhoods in the outer boroughs with a good mix of urban and suburban (south of Austin Street).
There's some really nice big homes in Forest Hills Gardens on par with the mansions in Fieldston in the Bronx btw.
Queens is one of the most culturally diverse places in the world. It’s Amazing.
I was born in the Bronx but grew up in Queens,I wouldn’t of traded that for any other place in the world .
Love that polite insistent honking at 16:00. lol
I love this area. So many memories. I remember going to the Midway Theater when I was little. Austin Street to eat at whatever restaurant. 🙂
Very nice!
Greetings we love ny we used to live in queens ooohhh how we miss it
Forest Hills is one of the best Neighborhoods in the City. Do Middle Village again, another Great Neighborhood.Queens has so many great places to live. It's nice that you show them in a good light.
Not really! It used to be :( crime and drugs Surprisingly is going up ..and yes so is every neighborhood in the world ...but when I was growing up and even as I was going to h.s I remember forest hills was super exclusive lmao like the Beverly hills of queens
Sounds good!
Very good video I love Forest Hills! Greetings from Helsinki!
Forest Hills resident of 28 years here. You basically went along Queens Boulevard and Austin Street, which are the busiest parts. But you also missed nearby Forest Hills Stadium, which hosts great concerts, and Forest Hills Gardens, which is one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in New York City. Nice job.
My mom is bedbound here in FoHi, and I've shared this with her to see our nabe. Thank you! 😊
my mom worked at the 112th pct in the 70s - 80s. Would come by and visit on a Saturday and walk around the neighborhood. Looks so different now. thanks for the video.
Another Awesome one Sir! I really loved NY....and it hasn't lost its charm.
Glad you enjoyed it
I grew up in Jamaica, and we were always around Forest Hills as kids. My family and officially I left NY 5 years ago as it got ridiculously expensive everywhere in NYC and NOT safe. Hopefully someday NYC can rebuild and become safe soon.
NY is much safer now than it used to be. It’s just that there’s more people per capita compared to other cities, so the crime that does happen seems more concentrated than it actually is. Btw, they’re building apartments right along Jamaica-Archer now!
I lived there in the early 80's. Virtually every store is different.
I really needed some NY this morning. Got here just after you posted. Since it is getting dark so early now, I really enjoy you posting some walks that you do during the day time hours because I miss the weekends due to working. What a nice day, AK. Thank you!
I'm so glad! Thank you so much
Another nice walk and great looking neighborhood with nice looking restaurants , stores and bakery 😎Thank you for sharing A K 🙂👍!!!
Thanks for watching! It was interesting to see the new places
Forest Hills. Simon and Garfunkel's old neighborhood even though Garfunkel now lives in Manhattan and Simon has moved to Texas.
This is cool and my neighborhood! Some of my favorite spots on or off of Austin: Stacked for amazing sandwiches, La Boulangerie for authentic French pastries and baguettes. Nicks Pizza and Austin Street Pizza has some of the best pizza I’ve ever had. White Radish has one of the best brunches in the neighborhood now that Banter closed :(. Love to Sakura Ya and their shrimp shumai and onigiri! On Queens BLVD shout out to Beijing Dumpling, Cobblestones and Keuka!
Thank you for sharing the video. I used to to live in Forest Hills from 2005 to 2009. It surely brings back the good old memories.
17:06 The ugnuts are cute, and they look like the upside down finger hearts! 😁 It was nice to see all the local shops and restaurants. I'm glad to know new businesses have joined the community, and the city has made some street improvements. 🙂 Thank you for sharing this relaxing walk through Forest Hills, AK! 🤗
So cool! Glad you enjoyed it
So many interesting places in Forest Hills.
Hi.. I'm Hasan from sylhet Bangladesh.. it's awesome... Thanks for such a great video
Thanks, haven't been in FH but once in 50 yrs.. don't recognize anything it's all changed. The 5 below building was the Forest Hills Theater saw many a movie there. You passed my grammar school at Austin and Ashcan Ave. . Our Lady Queen of Martyrs. and didn't mention it. You might have gone down Continental Ave. Under the LIRR into the Forest Hills Gardens .That big building in the square was a hotel. It had a great piano bar downstairs. I watched Judy Garland drinking cocktails at the tables out front. My friend Jimmy got her autograph.
What a great place to live , not so crowded nor as many cars.
This tour is very well, I am enjoying , happy. Thanks for sharing.
This was my neighborhood 25 years ago, thank you for the video👍😊
Man, this video takes me back. I used to be up and down this area all the time cause past the Achieve Beyond building at like 9:45 is where the old Bramson ORT College building used to be. I remember going to that TGI Friday's between classes and stopping by back when that Target used to be a Barnes & Noble with the Starbucks next to it. It's crazy to see how many places have changed over the years, but also how much of the vibe still feels the same. I haven't lived in New York for years, but I miss it every day, and this really brought a smile to my face. I'm glad I stumbled onto this video, and I'm glad you make the videos you do. 😊❤
Back in the day late 80,s mid 90,s that was a "Barns and noble" ? book store, super nice, with the second floor being a really nice café with loungers.
Thank you for the walk AK 😊
Please hit Rego park from 67th to woodhaven

You always walk thru interesting and colorful neighborhoods. I'm happy that you are safely in NYC and not in the wind-torn towns in Florida at this time. But wherever you walk, you do wonderful video/vlogs. Thank you for sharing your love of all the locations you visit.

Hi Ken, thank you for sharing. I had to visit Austin St in mid July, lots of stores / shopping options. Loved the cobble stone street (unfortunately I don't remember the name). I also enjoyed the treats at Martha's country bakery
Very cool! Glad to hear you took a visit here
Hey ,AK! What's up? Wow! Nice looking neighborhood with kinda loads of decent restaurants ,stores and lots of stuff to do!!!
Just watched this video from Action kid at 9:30AM. November 11 It was a good nice walk
Nice to see you in NYC! Gotta admit I haven't watched a Florida episode.
Parts of the video are like some districts of North London :)
Memories from years ago. I remember when I would go to midway theatre and it was around 5 bucks to see a movie back then and I would wait for the bus at the Ridgewood savings bank.
Five Below is a great store. They just opened up a location near Fordham Rd and GC in The Bronx with the new Target
In the 80’s it was The Forest Hills Movie theater I work there in 80-82
I haven't been to Forest Hills for a while! And not only that you're using a similar route that I use whenever I'm playing Pokemon Go in that area. Imagine if I ended up meeting you by accident lol.
Very cool
seems like a very nice neighborhood
🇻🇳Streets lens (vietnam) thank you my friend for sharing good video. I wish my friend a good and successful day. Greetings from Vietnam to you...👍👍
It's 72 Degrees Fahrenheit In San Diego Everyday !! The Perfect Temperature For A Saturday Walk 🚶♂️ By The Action Kid ! 🐼
Omg I used to live a few blocks from the first part of ur video and me and the family miss it, we moved outta state to try something new and about to move back
Grew up in forest hills ❤
New York City is massive
Yes, it’s a large city, but did you know that LA is 3x larger but has 4x less people than NYC?
Yes, there are 5 boroughs of which Queens is the largest. Everyone thinks Manhattan is the entire city when it's just one of the 5 boroughs.
"22 Farenheit, 72 Celsius" 😊
Very interesting. Seems to be a thriving area
It has already throved. Is there such a word?
@@michaelchin3550 no
@@queens6583 It has already thrived?
37:40-At least whoever is leasing this building isn't tearing it down; as a wise old lady once said, 'From old buildings come new ideas.'
Kyuramen will be opening a location in Forest Hills where CheeBurger CheeBurger used to be
5 below was buffalo wild wings was the continental theater long time ago
the other direction on Austin is where the magic is.
Damn Queens actually looks clean and friendly rn
I guess NYC has changed over the years
That is an affluent neighborhood.
Forest Hills has always looked this way.
This is a rich neighborhood though
This is a very affluent neighborhood with multi-million dollar houses . The real section of Forest Hill is basically a gated community
nice
Good
Tiger-Balm and Chandra... Just 2 hep cats riding it out til the end (of the age). Very interesting content, glad your back. Any good NY t-shirts shops? Thank you
2:28 And before Duane Reade and Staples it was a movie theater.
Five Below was originally the Forest Hill Cinema…. FH was my place of birth. It has changed and has lost its charm in place of a commercial hub. Lackluster (for being a NYC multi/culti suburb in Queens). Thanks for posting.
Good.night A K.great.video.in.queens nyc
All these places look similar to me i grew up in london and again all very similar, heart of london lots of buildings are lighted up as most cities are , all have crime like everywhere else it's a world problem not places, i actually fined busy places stressful after a few hours i prefer being closer to nature with just the necessities of life for me.
29:54- *_This_* (to AK's immediate right) is the kind of subway entrance we need more of here in Toronto, especially for the (IMHO) misbegotten and foolish Ontario Line (particularly at the corner of Queen & Spadina where the TD Bank branch used to be and at the corner of Queen & Spadina near where the CIBC [Canadian Imperial Bank Of Commerce] branch is [and where they're going to build a station entrance in what used to be a store, 'just because'.🙄]) If they need to build elevators, there should be enough space for those too. This kind of entrance also needs to be built at King & Bathurst, instead of tearing down the good restaurant and nightclub that was there.
Home..!😊😁😁
Hello to everyone in Yeshua' name
you were so close to the TENNIS stadium
Great concerts there too.
Hi.everyone
I live in forest hills and hope you visit forest hills gardens
Another nice Queens tour thanks, my friend. Question, how far is Queens from Manhattan, and what would I take to get there if I'm at the One World Trade Center, just to give you a point of origin?
@Nature's Recovery ~ You can take E F or R train to Continental. Be sure to check for any service line disruptions on weekends, like today. For sure the R usually has no problem. Enjoy your trip. It should take from WTC area, about 45 minutes. 🦜
👍
Have you done a video of the 108th Street commercial section of Forest Hills?
This is so wired seeing my neighborhood on CZcams
72 celcius, holy hell fire and brimstone batman, how is Action still alive. That's insanely hot hahahaha.
I experience weird looks around here idk man.
😇👍
72C? You’d be dying lol
And it was originally a movie theater. What was the name of the theater?
He passes 2 separate buildings that used to be movie theaters. The one on Continental/71st Ave was the Forest Hills (Duplex) Theater and one on Austin Street (which I think is a medical office now) was called the Continental Theater.
Breaking News : Terence Hill is now a German , with German Pass 🤟
15:42 had to grab my television remote to mute
Ugly doughnuts looks pretty sick !
Please do another video for 2o24 👍
@Action Kid
Have you moved back to NEW YORK???
Is this where “Soup Nazi” is located?
What place have you not eaten at?
Where is the forest and the hills?
what are these shacks all over NYC is that housing for the Homeless? 6:35
This is not the best part of Austin. You should have gone the other way.
Wow How Ghetto did Fores Hills become, It now has a Pawn Shop? Did Jamaica expand? WOW Street vendors and all... Thank God I left in 98 .... The Democrats went complete CRAZY .....
I lived in Kessel street and then moved to 73rd road between 1999-2003, Boston Market and GAP were already there since then, target was a Barnes and Nobles, Austin pizza was there as well but it wasnt at the corner from what I remember, there was a good Japanese restaurant down the stairs at 13:00. Thanks for the video, it brings back the best memories.
