    *My most important recommendation: Look for small university cities with a high quota of foreign students (like Maastricht, Twente)! There you have a lot of contacts/student events & short distances.*
    In Rotterdam, Utrecht, Amsterdam, the student ratio is low, the distances are long and rooms are expensive and difficult to get.

      @IuliaFeroli  Před 3 lety +8

      Hi! Actually I originally pretty much decided on Groningen and was ready to go. Until the Maastricht student secretary actually called me to ask if I made up my mind and tell me in person that the degree is much smaller so everyone knows each other better and the teachers have more time for everyone and stuff like that. I think they still try to call students from all universities like that. I kind of convinced me but I still think Groningen would be been a great choice too and the city is gorgeous! Bigger and more things to do than Maastricht even

    Hi! Thanks for all the info and all the time and effort you've put in to educate us dweebs, but I had a few questions. If I study for a Bachelors in data science, will I be able to find work? Did you finish a masters before working or did you find work immediately after the 3-year program? The reason I'm asking this is that I cannot afford to do a masters immediately after my bachelors, I just don't have that kind of money so I'd like to work for a few years before doing one.

    • @IuliaFeroli
      @IuliaFeroli  Před 3 lety +4

      Hi! Thank you! It really depends on where you're looking to work and what's available. Personally, I actually quit my data science master as I got an internship and then job offer in my first year and didn't see the point of continuing the degree, but that is of course a more unique situation maybe and I'm not saying that will work for everyone. A lot of people in the Netherlands find it normal to also get a master right after their bachelor, and a lot of jobs might ask for that; but there are always exceptions. This is my video where I explained my reasons to quit the master in more detail: czcams.com/video/ao8NyZbM7O0/video.html

    Hi Iulia! I'm in desperate need of help! I got accepted to UvA for my bachelor's program and I am confused as to how I apply for a tuition fees loan. The one you talked about in the video. I'm going to have to take it as I am on my own in the Netherlands, without my parents' financial support, and I already have a million other things to think about. I just don't understand how I should apply! I need a citizen service number (the infamous BSN?) to apply for a DigiD, but that's for student finance. Is it the same thing? Just a different name? I'm not going to be able to be in the Netherlands until August when I will permanently move, so I can't get that just yet and therefore cannot apply for the loan, but I also need to apply for the loan, otherwise I can't go to begin with. I'm just afraid that if I don't do it on time and like I apply when the course already started, I'm not going to get my tuition fee money back which would be a huge issue. Do you have a video about it? Or can you just briefly walk me through the steps? I am clearly desperate here, and it's only May. I swear this whole process is gonna be the death of me.

    There are some issues need to be awared for international students.
    1. Netherland has rasism on renting apartment such as "Sorry no international student". Higher price apt will only be offered to International students.
    2. Since international student send their living cost deposit earlier, the refund is sooooo sloooow. takes up to 4 weeks after student has bank account.
    3. Surprisingly, when student got bank account, the debit card will be delivered within 2 weeks!! Whatt?? Even banks in developing countries can deliver cards in 2 days !!!. It's 21st century !! what happen that making card takes time soo loong??
    They work slooow like turtle but arrogant like lion.

      @@yuunarenata9965 yes, you transfer the money to university's bank account and later the university will work with immigration for issuing your student visa. Once you arrive in Netherlands, the immigration will give you recommendation for you making bank account. Within 2-4 weeks, the money will be returned to your bank account.

      If it is numerus fixus(it only accepts a limited number of students) you can apply to 2 universities.Otherwise, you can apply to as many as you want.Every uni's website specifies whether your chosen program is numerus fixus or not.

      If you already have organized your place of stay I advise to arrive one week before the introduction program starts, so you have time to visit IKEA if your room is unfurnished, buy a second-hand bike to move around, get your BSN, find out the nearest supermarkets (Aldi and Lidl are the cheapest, but Albert Heijn has a bigger choice), etcetera.
      If you don't have a place to stay get here at least a month earlier. Because of the housing shortage here all universities urge students to find a place to stay BEFORE arriving here.

    There is definitely a interest on a student loan it’s about 1% or more. Second a study loan is for a maximum of 7 years. Third: if you where born here in the Netherlands it is not so nice to have a student loan. If you graduated before 2018 your study loan is converted to a scholarship except for the college intuition loan. BUT if you started before 2018 but finished after 2018: ALL will be or stay as a loan WITH interest. BUT then 2022 the government acknowledges that the study loan system that replaced the scholarship system in 2018 is not efficient. So they changed it back to a system of scholarschip starting from school year 2023/24. AND those who where forced to take a loan with interest receive a compensation of €1000. Yess only 1 thousand and you won’t receive cash, no it will be offset against your dept.
    Basically if you studied in the Netherlands between 2017-2021/22 or currently studying: YOU are F**D in the A’!

      We have certain studies that are called 'numerus fixus' where there is a process usually containing a test and sometimes a letter of motivation. Usually they make a weighted grade average of your test result and your high school marks. All those grades are ranked highest to lowest and the, for example, the first 300 students get in

      Hi! There's a lot of self study materials online as well I think it's definitely possible if you're motivated. Really depends on the company though if they are looking for an actual degree or just certificates you got online or a portfolio of projects you worked on.

    If ielts on 6.5 score is enought to being student in the netherlands?

    • @piergiorgiobelfi768
      @piergiorgiobelfi768 Před 2 lety

      Check the specific university's site, but in my experience yes 6.5 overall is enough. However, the usual minimum is to have 6.5 in every section, so for instance, if you have an overall of 6.5 but that's because you have
      -reading: 6.5
      -listening: 6.5
      -writing: 7.0
      -speaking: 6.0
      That's not going to be enough
