Cinderella is a fairy tale about a poor servant girl, her wicked stepmother and horrible stepsisters. The tale was first published in 1812 as part of a collection of fairy tales for children. It was adapted by Disney for the 1950 movie of the same name.
Be warned: this version does not follow the same narrative as the Disney film and is darker than meets the eye!

My first time hearing about the Grimm version of Cinderella was in 7th Grade. It was much different than the Disney version many of us grew up to.

The Brothers Grimm were collectors of stories written by others. Cinderella was written by the French writer Charles Perrault.
