While its a good idea to push yourself, when you allow for cheat reps most people end up underestimating where their true muscular failiure is and start cheating early and so they arent working optimally. It works for Arnold becsuse he is absolutely going to muscular failiure, but it isnt going to work for your average gym goer.

Cheating is okay but listen to the chronological order. He said at the beginning very strict, so you are already training your muscles . So once you increase to heavy, the hypertrophy has already set in and it works your muscle well increasing your strength alongside even if you're cheating.

I’ll tell you what all jokes aside if you don’t cheat when you start going heavier with barbell curls over 100 pounds let’s say then you are going to hurt yourself. I’ve been working out a long time but I am not immune to listening to other people and the vast trend of advice saying that you should always go very strict on curls stuck in my head so I did that and what happens? I got tendinitis so bad in my arms. It was ridiculous. I’m just now getting over it by constant therapy from massages to wraps doing different techniques to loosen up the tendons. If I had just cheated a little bit when the way got heavier, it would take a huge strain off the initial curl and be a lot easier on my tendons.

My dad had a weight set at home, only did ez bar curls, bench and squat. No supplements, did it just for fun while watching TV. To this day at 60 years old his biceps are still bigger than most guys in the gym
The only problem I have with cheating is it gives the possibility for snapping your bicep. If you are not doing steroids then I’d advise you stick to what you can lift without cheating.
