I loved ocean kayaking off of Mendacino...Van Dam State Park. Beautiful!
I lived just North of Willits in 1968, at the bottom of oil well hill, I think that's what it is called. I worked at Brooktrails during it's startup. That is beautiful country there, I used to walk all over back by the Eel river along the tracks and up in the hills. I walked to work most days from home to Brooktrails which was a pretty good distance and back home again after work. Good memories.
Willits...ahhh, that’s where I grew up too. Really wonderful memories. What year did u graduate high school? Good ol’ Covelo Road has lots of nice places to swim in the summer😊. Probably should have went to Mariposa as opposed to Safeway. I used to o back to willits for the Fourth of July. Always a blast. The recreation grove was great but the rodeo n amusement carnival was alway a bit Underwhelming
I left Willits in '87 when I started eleventh grade, moved down to Oakland.

Visiting small towns in united states of america is kind of like traveling back in time or maybe rather time feels like it`s been frozen ( via nothing much changes when ya only got 5,000 people in a town )
I spent my childhood there, I miss it so much. I moved to Washington a few years ago and really wanna visit California again one day
Aww, I used to live on a ranch off 101, would swim in that very same spot you were at and Mushroom Rock also went to Willits High until 89. Thanks for the nostalgia, I miss it there.
Can almost smell the meat cookin' 😷😋I remember Willits when driving to and from Humboldt- if you don't blink that is! Nice old timey small town atmosphere for sure. Fun video.

+Gabriel Traveler great video Gabriel. I worked there in 2007, we were contracted by Mendocino County to build 2 water storage tanks. Mendocino was nice & people are nice too.
The only hitchhiking I done was in Humboldt and Mendocino and yes its very easy

CyndyNeg Yes I have been there actually, stayed at a lodge there (or maybe nearby) once with family. My grandparents lived in Bishop so I've been around that area quite a bit when I was a kid.
Hi Gabriel - thinking about moving to Willits. I heard that the weather is a bit cold (in the 50's and 60's) in most months. Is that true? I don't handle cold weather well. Will you please tell me a little bit about the year round weather?
The weather there is great, it's only chilly and rainy in the winter. Spring and fall are very pleasant and summers are hot. There isn't a lot of rain overall, just sporadic storms.

Wow, I really thought that swimming hole would have been too rocky to dive in...awesome! Did you have a hard time getting back up the rocks? Love the vids!

What I remember about the many times I've been through Willits is that Police will pull you over with the quickness so follow the speed limits. Also I ate at that same place you ate at on our way back to the Bay from Reggae on The River, really good burgers. Skyline high is in Oakland right? Thanks for sharing man it's really nice to look at the vid and reminisce about my adventures there.
When going north on 101 before entering Willits it bookings like they are building a bypass so the free way will go around town can you confirm this is wats going on?
Powerful Yes indeed, this is what's happening. It's been very controversial for several years, but the bypass is happening.
I didn't know Mendocino was a destination for tourists... Oh no, please don't invade this town too! :(
