    Man, I really liked this random ride along trip into the wilderness with you. I like how you just find a mud puddle and make it interesting. Not a care in the world and plenty of time to admire the flowers and scenery. Cool stuff! Big fan of the Vlogs, Thank you for sharing.

    Nice, I didn't realize until I saw your videos that Northern California is so sparsely populated. Many counties with an area of around 10,000 square kilometers and only around 100,000 people.

    So cool to learn you're from Willits, , Gabriel - one of my favorite places! I worked as an RN at Howard Hospital about a decade ago and my brother has lived for many years in Redwood Valley. I really enjoy your videos and am trying to keep up with you - I'm currently living in Panajachel at Lake Atitlan. See you some where on this planet some time!

      My parents worked at Howard Hospital, but that was way back in the '70s and '80s when I was a kid. My mom was an RN and my dad worked in the lab. Enjoy Lake Atitlan, nice spot.

      @GabrielTravelerVideos  Před 7 lety

      Wow, that's so awesome if those were mountain lion tracks. I've never seen one in the wild. Yes I was thinking about what to do yesterday in fact, we'll be in touch soon. I'm getting a lot of stuff taken care of and will be freed up within the next week and ready to take off and do some things. Feel free to write if you have any ideas, or I'll get back to you pretty soon.

    those aren't mountain lion tracks---mt lions retract their claws when they walk. Also, those weren't newts, they were polliwogs in transition to froggies.

    • @GabrielTravelerVideos
      @GabrielTravelerVideos  Před 7 lety

      You're probably right about the tracks, but those definitely were not polliwogs. They were about eight inches long, dark brown on top and orange underneath. I got a good look at them, definitely newts.

    Hi Gabriel, Can you recommend a town to stay in between SF and Mendocino? Good, accessible beaches and hiking trails? Thanks.

    • @GabrielTravelerVideos
      @GabrielTravelerVideos  Před 7 lety

      Hmm, do you mean on highway 1 on the coast or highway 101 inland? I think Ukiah is probably your best as far as partway. But it would be nicer just to stay in the town of Mendocino itself, if that's where you're heading for. Everything between the city and Santa Rosa still feels like suburbs of the city, and then after that the towns are too interesting until you get further north. You might check out Healdsburg. The nicest drive though if you have time is to turn onto highway 1 right after you go over the Golden Gate bridge. It will take longer because the road is super windy, but it's a prettier drive that way. There aren't many towns really until you get to Mendocino itself, but there are some hotels along the way. One tiny town on the coast that's worth checking out is Bolinas.

    • @x22steve
      @x22steve Před 7 lety

      Thanks very very much for taking the time to respond. I just saw an interesting water tower-styled place BnB in Medocindo. From what you're saying, I think we'll go there.
      We're going to be in SF 2 days and then have four more. Is it worth driving to Big Sur for 2 days and then up to Mendocino or is it best just to go to Mendocino. Big Sur is so stunning, but sounds pretty loaded with tourists. I want to get away, but still enjoy the rugged coast.

    • @x22steve
      @x22steve Před 7 lety

      BTW, my sister lived about 30 miles outside Willits from about 2004 until she died (early at age 44) in 2010. I visited her a couple of times.Her name was Stacy.

    • @x22steve
      @x22steve Před 7 lety

      Also, if you haven't been to this area, you should come - north AL, east TN and western NC are beautiful - wooded green mountains, rivers, waterfalls. Google Cloudland Cayon state park. Beautiful place. :)

    • @GabrielTravelerVideos
      @GabrielTravelerVideos  Před 7 lety

      Big Sur is a long ways south of the Bay Area, quite out of the way. Also highway 1 there is closed because of a landslide, so I'm not sure what's accessible right now. You might check out Point Reyes which is a nice area of the coast north of SF which would be along the way. But just booking something in Mendocino itself is a good idea, from there you have access to all sorts of places. You can do road trips up and down the coast, hiking, even go to some redwood groves, etc., and Mendocino and Fort Bragg are both interesting to explore. I've never been to your part of the country, will have to check it out one of these days. Sorry to hear about your sister, that's my age, I'm 45. I haven't lived in Willits since I was a teenager back in the '80s. I just visit my mom in Ukiah and some old friends in the area.

      I've been on parts of it, but I don't think I've driven it all the way down the coast to L.A. I've never been to Santa Barbara and around there. That would be a fun trip.

    Really fun! I really like the outdoor exploration videos. I think it might've just been dog prints there in the creek bed because of the toenails. Mountain lion prints are HUGE and have big toe pad circles--- I found this image online to compare: www.fishingbuddy.com/comment/948309#comment-948309. Could've maybe been coyote, too. So nice to see wild flowers popping up! We should get more soon in Colorado as things warm up. We're cold & rainy today with a possibility of flurries on the weekend. April can still be snowy here. The leaves on trees are only just starting to bud. More of these while you're there, please! These videos are really nice to watch! 👍🏼✌🏼

North has beach and flat landscape and in south are the alps, mountains. If you want see a video of the south, then you can watch the video of Bavaria on my youtube channel :)
