Honestly I think the 70’s had the most and brutal fighting out of all the decades of the Cold War
Yes to be honest.
How so ?
@@ismaelbouach5457 I mean, the video pretty much explains it.
But there were coups and couple d'etats everywhere in that decade, and proxy wars were at their peak. From 70 to all the way to 79, many things which still affect countries, like, Iranian Revolution, Augusto Pinochet's rule in Chile, The war in East Pakistan followed by an Islamist coup d'etat in the remaining country. Vietnam, Afghanistan etc also had their ow problematic events and so on and on.
@@Avicerox I would’ve said maybe the 50s-60s, with Korean War, Chinese Civil War, Vietnam, Algeria…

I'm South African, and my dad was a conscript as well as one of the first South African troops in Angola. The stories he told me about his time in the war were scary.
Well hey at least he told you. My dad fought in bay of pigs and nam and wouldn't tell me $#!+ About what he did or went through lol.
@@billmack6474 do you want him to go through a PTSD attack 💀 its all cool listening abt it til u see what it does to a man..
@@kiyoraka3537 he did have several attacks when he was alive. One was when they moved Nam refugees down to biloxi. He heard Vietnamese voices outside when he woke up and ended up outside on the porch in his boxers with a rifle. And when I was like five I tickled his foot to wake him up one morning and he kicked me in the chest across the room. So yeah that might be part of it. Other nam vets I've met were able to share a bit more of what it was like over there tho.
My gramps was in the pak army in Bangladesh
I don't think I wanted to ask him what he did as to not trigger a panick attack

Can I just say, Bravo on the historically accurate camouflage on the uniforms. It's a small detail but clearly well researched. Well done.
1970s maybe weren't as good as the previous decade, but many important events also happened on this decade.
better in some ways worse in others
Also had some of the worst dictators, such as Pol Pot
@@worldsgreatestdude1784not the worst
good that you include the Philippines, can't forget the iconic "Mi General Augusto Pinochet".
rough years for southeast asia in general
I thought Philippines will learn It's lesson from the past. I remember in the 70s there's lots of protest and activist being tortured by their own government. Years passed by and they elect a son of that former president in the 70s. I don't know If People of the Philippines are easy to fool or they're just basically stupid. Anyways I'm not living there so goodluck on their homeland.
@@user-tq3xw7rq7c they should've vote for Leni Robredo, right?
@@lanzalgarme
I wouldn't vote for either two of them though. I want constitutional reforms to lift out this human-mercy forsaken clay. Everyone in this country is a political troglodyte, no concept of Right or Left, and super illiterate in basic economy in which even the most intelligent tax funded college students are so easy to scam into a dead horse ideology which ate 100 million lives in just a century.
hi are you from Philippines?
This is so awesome makes me want to learn what was happening in those countries especially with the creepy face
Same
Generally speaking when you see a country with creepy face people its when there is a brutal dictatorship going on. I know it wasn't mentioned, but take Cambodia for example millions died under pol pot's regime. Also, when you see Vietnam it being the 70's the Vietnamese won the Vietnam war hense the happy music
Filipino here. The Philippines was placed under martial law by then-President Ferdinand Marcos for most of the 70s, a period we often simply refer to as "Martial Law". It remains highly controversial to this day, and is regarded as either a golden age or a dark age depending on which side the person you're talking to was on. People aligned with the government benefited greatly, and often point to the major infrastructure developments and crackdown on communist insurgency during that period. Those critical of Marcos on the other hand will remember the regime's rampant corruption, human rights abuses, and foreign debt. It's a really complex issue that I encourage everyone interested to read a wide variety of sources on to get a good picture of what actually happened.
The UK one was bloody Sunday in Northern Ireland.

Greece from 1968 to 1975, I think, was under a military dictatorship known as the "Regime of the Colonels" or the "Greek Junta". Coincidentally, the Turkish invasion in Cyprus was also the final nail in the coffin for the Junta.
As for the UK, the whole decade is considered "UK's darkest hour", since there was a huge number of strikes and stoppages sponsored by the unions to combat some austerity measures that were passed and approved or even strenghtened by the Labour party (which was governing at the time), leading to fun things like blackouts, stoppages of media and public services etc.
South africa had this thing called apartheid from 1945 to 1994

1:30 Is that an operation lotus when the Indonesian part appeared?
yes, or better known as operation seroja
Yes, when Indonesia helped East Timor from Portuguese colonization
@@oizorref2615 Well, kind of. We came there for a noble mission: To remove the Portuguese colonizers and to prevent communist elements from taking hold.
Then, what followed was decades of pain, suffering and war crimes. We treated the East Timorese not as equal brothers and comrades as we should have, but as a colonized people. We were little better than the former Portuguese colonizers.
Thus it's no surprise East Timor became independent in 2002. I can't exactly blame them for all the things we did to them.
